The Werewolf King's Maid Mate

Kelathari’s POV ‘Is this really the life that I was created to live?’ I lay on my bed ready to start my chores for the day. I’m so exhausted today I didn’t get to bed until 3am and I have to start getting breakfast ready for the pack house at 6am. Days come and go easily now I lose track of time so easily. I used to get excited at the thought of turning 18 and meeting my wolf. Now with less than a week until my birthday I feel like it will become more of a burden. I never did fit in well here, if my white hair wasn’t the biggest indicator that I was different but so were my golden eyes. I stare at the room around me, the pack gave me the old shed as my room because the alpha didn’t want me around. My bed is made of metal with a blanket they gave me. The few clothes that were passed on to me were filthy and were covered in holes but they wouldn’t allow me to wash them or stitch the holes up myself. So I had to make do like I did my whole life. All I’ve ever known is the life of a maid, I wasn’t allowed to attend school with the other children my age, nor was I allowed to speak with anyone other than the other maids. “GETTTTT UPPPPPPP” blares Gloria. She is the head maid making sure the guards and those in charge are always pleased. Her shouting startled me out of my day dream, I roll over to check my old grandfather clock seeing it is only 5am. Gloria slams the door open glaring at me holding a bucket of warm water and soap. “I told you to get up didn’t you hear me you stupid girl?” She spits out. “I am sorry, I was just confused with the timing I didn’t know we were starting early today, I shall go to the kitchen now and start preparing” I reply in a confused state. “The king of alphas has announced that he is coming today. Apparently he has been checking in with all of the packs in the north to ensure they are prepared in case we go to war with the south” Gloria has her arms crossed and is tapping her foot as she explains this too me. She watches me closely as I am rushing around my room trying to find any clean clothes I may have with no luck. “I don’t have any clothes that are clean or have no holes in Gloria”. Staring at the pile of clothes on the floor I realise just how bad my life has become. “I guess you will have to borrow something of mine then. Clean yourself up with this water and soap whilst I go get you something” she hastily says under her breath. She exits the room leaving me to attempt to clean myself with my bucket of water and soap. It feels so good against my skin to have a bucket of warm water for once. They must really be wanting to make a good impression to the kind of they are also trying to clean me up. “All I could find you was this, I brought you make up too, you need to hide the bruises you got from the guards. When the king arrives with his entourage you are not to speak to them at all. Do you understand? If you so much as look them in the eye or draw attention to yourself I will report you to the Alpha and Luna” Gloria explains as she watches me put on the clothes and apply the make up. “Yes Miss.Gloria, I understand. I will stay in the background and act like I don’t exist” I finish applying the make up and give her it back. “Well come on then let’s go!” Gloria pushes me out of the door whilst shouting this at me. She then storms off ahead of me I assume to go wake up the other maids to get everything spotless and prepared in time. I make my way to the kitchen, as I walk along the hallways I see the guards starting to wake up kicking the omega females out of their rooms. I stare at one guard, Demetrius with his mate Amalia. They are they only two people in the whole pack that acknowledge my existence and are kind to me. “Good morning” they both greet me playfully with big grins on their faces. “You two clearly had a good night” I respond with equally a big smile. “Kelathari, don’t tell anyone yet but I found out that we are going to be expecting a pup. I’m so excited that I have finally fallen pregnant!” Amalia jumps up and down as she tells me the good news. “Oh wow! Congratulations to the both of you, that pup is definitely going to be a lucky one with you two as it’s parents” I gleam back to the both of them whilst hugging them. “Thank you Kela, it means a lot” Demetrius responds. “WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING” Gloria screams down the hallway. The shout was that loud it made all 3 of us jump out of our embrace, I turn to face her horrified. I notice that there are two new faces stood just behind her, a man and a woman that I did not recognise. “I’m sorry Gloria, I’m going to the kitchen now” I smile at both Demetrius and Amalia, with one last squeeze of their hands I hurry off in the direction of the kitchen. Demetrius and Amalia have saved my life more times than I could count. Amalia has nurses me back to health multiple times after run-ins with the vicious Alpha James. His Luna, Sophie is a little kinder to me as she sympathises with me losing my parents at such a young age. She was the one who managed to convince James to take me in when I became an orphan and there was no space left in the orphanage. Sadly, she would never oppose him hitting me or punishing me to however he deemed fit enough. All I’ve know is a life of punishment and pain, I pray to the moon goddess nightly that when I turn 18 things will change. Perhaps I could even run away from the pack and live as a rogue in the wild at least I would no longer be near Alpha James. “Good morning Chef Andrea” as I tie up my hair ready to help with preparing the pastries and fruit in the dining hall. “Good morning Kelathari, we have a lot of work to be done in the next two hours. You girls will have to start preparing the dining hall straight away. Firstly, take out fruits and pastries, then as I cook the hot food you can all start placing it on the tables. Gloria will stay in here with me to ensure we cook enough hot food for the guests arriving, I’ve heard that there are 50 of them in the kings entourage” Andrea cries out. I do as I’m told, the other maids arrive alongside Gloria. She gets straight to cooking with Gloria, ensuring that every pan available is being used. Florence, Serena and I start to set the tables, evenly spacing out the fruit and pastries. Gloria and Andrea are now placing all of the hot foods on to trays for us to run in and out of the dining hall. As we are running out of the hot food into the dining hall and placing it on the table. The whole pack house has come to life, lots of chatter and laughter goes on between the pack members, with excitement buzzing through them all to meet the king. All of a sudden everything stops, and silence fills the room. The large oak doors are opened and standing there is Alpha James, Luna Sophie and King Benjamin. I hold my breath as the overwhelming authoritative aura coming from them hits me. The whole pack house bows their heads. For some reason I feel like someone is watching me. When I hear James, Sophie and Benjamin take their seats, the chatter in the room once again restarts and the laughter soon fills up the hall. When I feel it is safe to do so I look up and see Benjamin staring at me. The stare is so powerful I want to get away from it, so I turn away and almost run back to the kitchen. That’s when I run into her, one of the most beautiful people I have ever seen.
