Ten I reached down and felt for a pulse on his neck. I didn’t realize I was holding my breath. I let the air out. “He’s got a pulse.” I rolled him off of her which was harder than it should have been for someone who was unconscious. “Why won’t he let go,” she asked. “Think about it for a minute ma’am,” I said. Once he was on his back, I opened his shirt remembering we all put on flak jackets and that was probably what saved them both. I turned him over again with his vest exposed.
