Tessa
"There's no way I will allow this nonsense! Who does he think he is?!" I yell at the tip of my lungs. I turn to the side and all I can see is my face in the mirror. It feels mocking as I watch my own reflection suddenly looking pale and miserable. I admit I need the f*****g money, but what the heck?! This is not what I signed up for.
Slowly, I walk around in circles and my head feels like it could explode at any time. I don't even know how I got to this damn luxurious bedroom. The last time I remembered, I was trying to run away from this prison, but the guards held me down and then came the f*****g bastard who just mocked me with his offer.
It's been hours, and I am still roaming around in circles. I look slightly at the window. Everywhere is covered with hefty guards with their faces scrunched.
"They're going to kill me if I don't accept," I bite my lip, my leg shaking aggressively like jelly. "What do I do? This is crazy. Should I pretend to be dead instead, just maybe he might dispose of my body and I can finally get away," I mumble even though I know that is a rather stupid idea. "s**t! There's no way that would work. You have to think, Tessa."
Buzz!
I glance at my cellphone and my eyes blur a little when the notification came in. A reminder like always. My bills are due and my last chance of getting the payment failed at the f*****g clubhouse.
"You're such a fool, Tessa!" I growl, my palm feels itching as my anxiety gets to its peak. "You shouldn't have accepted the damn job."
Slam!
"What the heck?!" I yell with my eyes almost popping out of its sockets. I look closely at the door as it opens wide.
There he was— the arrogant bastard.
Every step he takes makes my heart beat fast, I can literally feel my lungs almost exploding as my chest heaves nonstop. His aura is not only dreadful but f*****g mysterious. Although his face says a different thing about his personality. He looks kind of handsome.
"So…" he paused briefly with his chin raised. Our eyes met, and I gulped down my saliva nervously. "Have you thought about my proposal?" He asked, but yet I feel it's more of a command with how his voice thunders slightly in my ears.
"You can't force me to accept," I mustered the courage to confront him once more. "I don't know you and this is against the law, you f*****g bastard. I might be poor, but I do f*****g have some dignity, you asshole! You should have left me the way you met me at the club and stop pretending to be some savior you are not." I slam my hands on his chest, pushing him far away from me. "I am not your slave you can command," I declared, but I can feel fear surging through me.
He snarled, pulling closer. His breath settling heavily on me and his eyes boring holes right through my soul.
I froze, trembling at his reaction.
He can kill me here and now. Why the hell did I have to say that to him? s**t! How do I get out of this mess? No one is coming to save me.
"You've had your chances, miss Tessa," he says, his tone indifferent. "This is not a f*****g negotiation. You need the money and I need your service and that's how it's going to be. Now, come along with me."
"Why?! I won't be your baby factory, you s**t hole. You don't deserve to be a father if you think you can buy your way through it without emotions," I yell.
For a second, his lips curled up, his eyes dazzling with a mysterious grin on his face.
And then— he laughs.
So hard that I can barely hear myself in the room.
"What's so funny?!" I shouted so badly that my throat felt sore.
He paused for a while and rubbed his lips with the tip of his finger. His steps echoed in the room as he approached me. My heart pounded so fast that it made me fear for my life.
Suddenly, we were just an inch apart, and he dipped those hands inside his pockets, his neatly yet sexy curly hair with the bad boy look dawned on me and I gulped my saliva, taking a step back anxiously.
"What's so fun…ny…" I stutter.
"You are so cute, miss Tessa. But guess what, I always get what I want. Like I said before, this is not a negotiation." He whispered and I swallowed.
"But what about my boyfriend?" My gaze dropped low, and my eyes streaked down tears at the thought of Jake. For some reason, I still feel attached to that jerk.
I know this is stupid, but I can't help myself. I have sacrificed so much for that man, and he does this to me? It's crazy!
"Huh?!" He scoffs. "Don't tell me you are that stupid, Tessa. That man never loved you, and you should be happy it all ended. How stupid can you be to think of Jake at this time? I thought you were wise, but maybe I was wrong about you."
His expression reeked of disgust and I swallowed.
How come he knows about Jake?
"Wait," I blinked at the stranger and wiped my runny nose. "Have you been stalking me? I never said anything about my boyfriend."
"You still call him your boyfriend?" His lips slightly raised with anger laced in his voice. "You know what? You can go on and leave. I don't need weak women around me. You are certainly not worthy to carry my baby."
His steps echoed as he turned around to leave the room, leaving me stunned at his reaction. I bet he scooped out some information about me.
Why on earth do I feel violated?!
I take a deep breath, my phone buzzing with notifications as I started running, making my way out of the f*****g prison I found myself.
Somehow, the jerk who broke up with me saved me. His name irritates that man.
I have to get out of here.
Outside the mansion, no one stopped me, and it felt strange, but not until I ran to the gate and my eyes suddenly fell on Jake and Nicole's picture on the class group chat.
COUPLE OF THE YEAR.
My heart drops seeing those cute emojis from my course mates.
And there's a picture of me in the Janitor's outfit looking like s**t, pleading for Jake's love.
"I bet that lowlife can't compete. Who would want her now? Jake finally dumped her. I guess he won the bet after all. She acted like she was better than all of us, always acting like a saint and getting the perfect grades."
I keep reading the incoming messages and my stomach knots.
"She was feeling special. Such an ugly duckling. I bet he screwed the b***h before dumping her."
I have never felt so stupid in my entire life. I keep scrolling down.
"I knew he was only using her because that's what she deserves."
They've been dating for a while.
I clench my fist, tears streaming down my cheeks like a fountain. I reach for the gate, but my hand suddenly goes numb.
I looked behind me— he was standing majestically at the entrance with a smirk on his face.
My cellphone buzzed and there my heart skipped.
I TOLD YOU THIS WASN'T A NEGOTIATION. YOU HAVE THIRTY SECONDS TO DECIDE OR YOU CAN GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND BE THE LEFTOVER EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT.
I swallow, clutching my fist from afar with a heavy heart.
Jake ruined me but this man right here, he completely terrifies me.
Who is he anyway?! I wonder.
