The anger that caressed through his body threatened to explode. The moment his daughter mind linked him, he knew something had happened, something bad. She was distraught, panicked and he could tell she was about to loose it. Alpha Gabriel returned the link, asking her where she was. She told him she was heading to the hospital, that she was not the one hurt, but he needed to go to the party. She did not tell him much, and so with his Luna, he made his was from the Pack House to the Beta House, noticing that the party was still going, but something did not seem right.
Nathanial was waiting for him out the front and following the young man through the house, he was taken out to the back, to the pool house, where the scene before him filled his mind with rage and it took his whole being to remain in control and not loose sense to his wolven instinct. Maximus and Kinley had Julian, now a rouge, pinned to the ground, he was surely roughed up and it looked like the boys had taken a hand in that.
He had demanded to know what was going on, firstly, why had his daughter been so frightened, secondly, why was Julian in the state he was, and thirdly, why was the room a mess, like a shock wave had gone off in there. His wife, his Luna Iras, stood by his side, taking in the room as well, her body shaking.
“Who?” she whispered.
“A…Adira.” A tiny scared voice spoke.
Alpha Gabriel looked around and saw Stacey standing in a corner, standing with Leonardo and a girl he knew by the name of Tina. Hearing her words, the pit of his own stomach fell and now he understood more about the situation. He could not control his anger and stepped up next to Julian, lifting his head with the toe of his shoe. He was angry and that was evident by the dark look in his eyes. Julian met his eyes, and all he saw was content, evil and greed. He was a lost wolf, a true rouge and Alpha Gabriel was not going to let him off lightly. In a swift movement, he kicked the young man in the face, hearing a c***k, knowing he would have broken his jaw. Alpha Gabriel did not care, as he looked back around the room.
Some chairs were turned over, items smashed. He moved to the bed that was in the pool house, seeing the mess and state it was in. Blood was all over the covers. He saw the loose ropes and went to pick them up to inspect. He hissed and dropped them. Wolf Bane. What had he done! If there was one thing he knew, Wolf Bane was not ok to use against another wolf. It was cruel. This was not an on the spur thing… this was completely planned and it made him even more angry at the idea that one of his pack had been attacked in such a way.
He hated it, seeing what he did, the duct tape and discarded cloth, the torn material of clothing. The knife and the other strange object laying near by. What was that? He wanted to inspect more, but the laughing voice of Julian made him stop and turn. He was crazy, blood spilling from his nose and mouth, just laughing. He had no regret, no remorse for what he had done. It was clear there was no going back from this point.
“Why! Why did you do this!” Alpha Gabriel demanded.
“I had to! We need her out of the way.” He claimed.
“We?” Alpha Gabriel asked back.
“Dark Lord Alexanda.” Julian laughed. “You have no idea how much he wants that b***h gone. You have no clue what he has planned.”
“Why! Why is he doing this for?” Luna Iras asked.
“That mutt was meant to die as a baby! She has to die! She can not live!” Julian hissed. “I have made sure she will suffer… she should die.”
“Why would somebody want a baby… an innocent child to die and to suffer so badly.” Luna Iras asked. “Why are you all so cruel and want to keep hurting her!”
“Because… if she lives… that little mutt will be the most powerful being to grace our lands.” He claimed hissing. “She may have been protected by that f*****g blood sucker her whole life, but she cannot keep running. She is dead. DEAD!”
Alpha Gabriel stood there for a moment stunned. Was this true… was she really meant to be that powerful? He already knew Adira was different… but this? Was this the whole reason her life had been as it had. Who was she really? To have an evil Vampire Lord wanting her dead so much that all he did was come at her. Was she safe here with them… clearly… Dark Lord Alexanda still found ways to reach her, to try and get rid of her. Yet, the words Julian stated, made one things clear… when Adira was found by Lord Vincent… the way she was found… it was quite likely that it had been Dark Lord Alexanda who had killed the woman she was found with. He remembered what Lady Cindy had said when she came to their pack, about how Adira was found. It seemed, many things were connected now.
“Take him to the cells. I am not finished with him yet.” Alpha Gabriel ordered in an Alpha tone.
As he said this, the room became more crowed, with some guards and Beta Luke arriving. The boys allowed them to take over, and without a word, Alpha Gabriel took the hand of his love, his Luna, and moved out of the room. He needed to keep calm, keep focused and the next thing he needed to do was go to the hospital and find out what was going on there. He knew his daughter and oldest son was there, he knew things were not going to be easy, but as an Alpha he had to be the one in control to deal with what has been happening.
Their short trip to the pack hospital was silent, neither he or his Luna knew what to say, or what would face them when they arrived. In truth, Alpha Gabriel was scared. He may not have trusted Adira when she had first came to his territory, but now… now she had become an important part of their pack. She did as he asked, she went to school and studied hard. She got a job and worked extra hard for the pack hospital. She had helped many times with things. He wanted to fully welcome her into his pack, to be a part of their pack family. He felt such strong connections with her, that he almost felt like she was his own daughter. Adira might be mature, but she was still a child in reality.
The glass sliding doors opened for him, and the moment he walked in, a body slammed into him. Wrapping his arms around his daughter, he held her close, wanting to protect her. He could feel his daughter trembling and he knew, that she was upset, freaking out about what was happening. His eyes looked up and he could see his oldest son, standing there, back to them, eyes on the doors of the operation rooms.
“He has not looked away once.” Abagail whispered. “It’s been half an hour already.”
“Go sit with your mother.” Alpha Gabriel told her.
He watched as she nodded, stepping to Luna Iras. The woman pulled her daughter straight into her arms, holding her tightly, their thoughts shared. Alpha Gabriel loved his child and he had done everything he could do to protect them from the nasty world outside their pack. It was troubling to him, to know that no matter what he had done, that these evil things could still happen.
Stepping up to his oldest son, Alpha Gabriel placed a hand against Sebastian’s shoulder. He could feel how tense he was, and it was very evident by the look in his eyes, what has happened broken him. Alpha Gabriel was well aware of how his son felt, because Sebastian had always been open and honest with him, about the way he felt that strange pull to Adira. While she was not his mate, Sebastian would surely feel pain from this.
“It will be ok son… she is strong.” He stated, trying to make things better.
“I want to kill him… I want to rip his head off.” Sebastian hissed.
“I agree and I want to as well. Right now however, we need to be strong, for Adira.”
His son nodded as they fell silent. They did not move, as they waited, watching the doors of the operating rooms. Over time, more of their pack arrived at the hospital, taking up seats, as they waited with them. Beta Luke and his son Maximus were there, Stacey waiting as well. Holding onto Maximus, looking unwell by the goings on. Nathanial stood against a wall his arms crossed and an unreadable expression on his face. Kinley paced, not coping with the wait very well. Tina was silent, sitting on a chair, watching everyone. His Luna was wondering around, talking – trying to – with everyone, doing the motherly thing and trying to keep the mood positive, even though they knew nothing positive was associated to the situation.
One hour into their waiting, the doors opened and everyone looked over, stood up, seeing that Doctor Shelt walked out. He looked very sad, worried and Alpha Gabriel thought the worst at that moment. Doctor Shelt gave a small sigh and shook his head.
“I wanted to come out and have a talk.” He stated.
“Is she ok Doctor?” Alpha Gabriel asked.
“No… this is not easy… Alpha… who did this?” Doctor Shelt asked almost angry.
“Julian… that f*****g traitor.” Maximus spoke up from the side.
“What is her condition….” Sebastian asked in a tight voice.
“I am afraid… my understanding from Adira’s condition… is that she was tortured and she is in a very serious state… I am worried we might lose her and want confirmation we have permission to do anything possible to save her.” Doctor Shelt asked.
“Yes. Do it. Please.” Sebastian said almost in a whisper.
“What do you mean… tortured?” Beta Luke asked stepping forwards.
“I can’t talk too long, I want to get back… but… what ever Julian used against her… was laced with Wolf Bane.. and… silver.” Doctor Shelt said almost defeated.
“Did he… Julian… did he…” Alpha Gabriel tried to ask, not even able to put words together.
“Honestly… he has not gone that far personally…” Doctor Shelt advised.
“We got there in time?” Kinley asked, perking up.
“I am afraid… it is not that simple.” Doctor Shelt advised.
“What do you mean?” Luna Iras asked now.
“This is not easy to even say… like I said… she was tortured… something was used… something that was laced in wolf bane and silver… it is not… helping us… help her.” Doctor Shelt said. “I need to go, there is much to do and we will try everything we can to save her….”
Without much more words, he turned and ruched back through the doors. The whole waiting room was in silence again, they were all too stunned to even put words together. Alpha Gabriel understood exactly what Doctor Shelt was saying. This was a mess, and if what was said was true, it clearly was evident that Julian was indeed there to cause her extreme harm. Why would he do that? What was the point? Was it for fun, to just cause her pain? He was furious and he had to try the best he could to calm down.
“That is… good right… that he didn’t get the chance to r**e her…” Tina spoke up.
“Are you f*****g kidding me!” Maximus said angry, turning to her. “Do you not understand what that f*****g asshole did! Regardless if he.. did it himself … it is still abuse… still r**e. So do not f*****g try and belittle what the f**k is going on.”
“I was only saying… it’s better then him doing it… like… in a mate sense… her mate wont have to worry another man… doing something to her.” Tina said shyly.
“You d**k head Tina.” Kinley gasped at her.
“What?” she asked, like she had no idea what she said. “What mate would want a spoiled one.”
“Enough!” Sebastian snapped.
It was one of the first times the whole hour that he had turned around and looked at them. Alpha Gabriel could see the emotions in his eyes. He was hurting, confused. He was angry and ready to kill. Tina was not helping at all and Alpha Gabriel almost had enough of her talk. He did not like her much and he could only assume she was there because she was following Kinley. She had no right to comment, to say the things she did. Nobody did. It was sad, it was a worry, but none of them had a right to discuss it.
“If a mate truly was a loving and understanding soul, it would not matter to them the past of their other half. The best they can do is support their mate and help them through s**t like this.” Sebastian stated. “This world is cruel, but mates do not have to be worse.”
“I was only saying… we are all thinking it.” Tina mumbled.
“And what about you! You made the choice to be with another before you met your mate. Do you think you should still be welcomed opened armed and willing when you find your mate?” he asked angry again. “Get out of here. I do not want to see your face and I OERDER you not to speak word of anything regarding tonight to anyone.”
Alpha Gabriel watched his son, knowing his Alpha powers were showing at that moment and that Tina was not going to be able to do anything against what he had just said to her. She gave a small bow of the head, not a word coming from her mouth. Her eyes looked to Kinley but he was not looking at her, he was looking pretty pissed himself and Alpha Gabriel could imagine the regret that kid was feeling after sleeping with such a girl, by choice.
While she had a valid point, because it was the truth, sometimes when mates found each other, they did get rejected, if the other did not like their loved ones. He did worry about it, but it did not mean he was going to discuss it with other people out loud. He was proud of his son however, for speaking up, saying as he had. It was obvious that Sebastian had such a good heart, and he could not have been any more pleased with the way his son had grown up. He was not a silly boy any more, he was mature and thought things through clearly.
Two hours into their waiting, even though the waiting room had fallen silent again, it seemed behind the doors, something serious was going on. Alpha Gabriel knew because of his good strength in hearing. There seemed to be a moment of panic and shock. As he was still standing next to Sebastian, he caught on the way his son reacted as well. Sebastian seemed to tense even further, looking around confused, and then back at the doors. He had a very complicated look in his eyes and before Alpha Gabriel could stop him, Sebastian rushed forwards, forcing his way past the doors.
Not sure what his son was even thinking, Alpha Gabriel followed quickly, trying to stop him going further. A nurse saw him coming in and tried to get him to leave, claiming it was too dangerous and complicated. Sebastian growled at her and she quickly moved out of the way.
“Sebastian. Stop.” Alpha Gabriel begged following him.
His son did not reply, just walked faster to the next set of doors. Alpha Gabriel grabbed his son’s arm but Sebastian shrugged him off and just about ran for the door. However, just before they got there, Doctor Shelt came out of the room, as if he knew somebody was coming.
“Sebastian… you cannot go in there.” He warned.
“I need to!” he claimed angry, desperate.
“It is too complicated… we do not know… if it is safe.” Doctor Shelt claimed.
“I do not care.” Sebastian said in a warning growl. “Let me pass NOW!”
They really could not do anything, they could sense he was tapping into Alpha powers, his strength was growing and it was making his emotions unstable. Sebastian pushed the doors open, Alpha Gabriel and Doctor Shelt quickly following. They were in the room that Doctor Shelt and his team were trying to save Adira.
While Alpha Gabriel had expected to see a lifeless body on the operation bed, he froze in his step. The nurses were all standing at a distance, not sure if they should approach the bed. In his head, Alpha Gabriel had so many questions… did not understand… but he just stood there frozen, watching. Sebastian did not seem as cautious as the rest in the room, he walked closer, slowly and carefully.
“What happened… how is this….” Alpha Gabriel started, not able to finish.
“I see this sometimes… when a werewolf is in extreme danger of loosing their life… they change… they turn into their wolf… so it can help heal and protect.” Doctor Shelt spoke.
“That… that’s Adira?” Alpha Gabriel asked shocked, thinking he had not heard she had shifted once.
He did not really need an answer, who else would it be. They had been in here, trying to save her and now… there was a wolf on the bed. The wolf was not moving, as it laid on the bed, it’s eyes closed, seeming very weak. Sebastian was next to the bed and reached out a hand, the moment he neared enough to touch the wolf, it shifted, shrinking back away from him.
“It’s ok… It’s me… I wont… I wont hurt you. Please.” He whispered.
He reached out again, moving his hand and softly resting it against the fur of the wolf on the table. It did not move from him this time, accepting him. He stepped closer, placing another hand on its fur, and slowly, carefully, he leaned forward, embracing the wolf.
“Sebastian… that might not be a good idea, it may attack, feeling threatened.” Doctor Shelt said.
“Doctor… I think… he knows what to do.” Alpha Gabriel said.
It made all the sense now to him. Alpha Gabriel did not know how it was possible, but he could not deny what was happening before him. His son was comforting the wolf, making it calm down, and soon the wolf changed, back to human, back to Adira. He was holding her in his arms as he leaned on the edge of the bed. She still was covered by an operation sheet, so they did not see anything of her that was personal, although Alpha Gabriel was sure the doctors and nurses would have seen enough trying to save her.
In silence, Alpha Gabriel stepped forward, now she was back, he knew the doctors would have more work to do. She was weak and limp in Sebastian’s arm and though they must have cleaned the blood off her body, it was clear she had gone through hell with what Julian had done to her. She was covered in marks, swelling and cuts, it was difficult to even recognise her under it all, but they knew it was Adira. Reaching out, he placed a hand on Sebastian’s shoulder and when he did, his son looked up, a broken haunted look in his eyes, tears slipping down his cheek.
“Let the doctors continue.” He told his son softly, then turned to Doctor Shelt. “Do everything you can, do not let her die.”
“What… what… is going on?” Doctor Shelt asked stunned.
“It would seem… somehow… Adira… will be your next Luna.” He stated.
The whole room heard him and the nurses gasped and looked between Sebastian and Adira and then back to Alpha Gabriel. He had worked it out, the moment he saw his son embracing that wolf. Sebastian had already told him about the White Wolf, meeting her and finding his mate. Adira was that white wolf and now it was all making sense to him. A white wolf was strong and powerful, so was Adira. Dark Lord Alexanda wanted her gone… because she was the key… she was apparently going to be the most powerful being. He was no longer surprised by all of this, even if he had questions to still ask about it all, he was no longer shocked by all that had been happening.
It took some time, some persuasion from Alpha Gabriel to have his son follow him out of the room, to leave Adira in the hands of the doctors. They eventually did walk out, but stopped in the hall before going back to the waiting rooms.
“I need to understand what is going on.” Alpha Gabriel said.
“It all connects father. That pull… it was always strong but not mate strong… not unless she is in wolf form.” Sebastian stated. “Adira said… that Lord Vincent put magic on her, blocking things… maybe… this was why… the bond did not form the moment we first met.”
“We will do everything we can for her son. Even if there was no bond… she is a part of our pack official or not. We will do everything we can for her.” Alpha Gabriel told his son.
“Father…” Sebastian said looking up, very worried. “Is she going to be ok? She is still so young… what if… what if she…”
“Do not think it Sebastian.” His father said firmly.
They were men, but this was a serious situation. He stepped forward and pulled his son into his own embrace. Alpha Gabriel could feel how troubled and tense his son was. The truth was now between them, that not only had Sebastian found his mate, but it was the young girl who had came to them as an enemy and warmed their hearts. Alpha Gabriel held his son for a long time, before they shifted apart, they had a mutual understanding, that for now, they would not say anything to anyone else… not until they knew what was going to happen with Adira.
The night that was meant to celebrate Kinley becoming eighteen. However, it had quickly turned into a nightmare, into a bundle of confused mess. The two, father and son, walked back out to the waiting room. Sebastian sat down on a seat, and Alpha Gabriel walked over to his own love, his own Luna and pulled her into a very tight hug, kissing her forehead. He did announce that there had been a complication, but Doctor Sherlt was working hard on helping Adira, but that was all, he said nothing more, as they all continued to wait.
