To say he was in the dog house was the best example ever. Kinley knew he would be in trouble, and that was why it was best he spoke to Alpha Gabriel first. He braved the man and went to the office after dinner that night, explain to him the situation. He was guilty, no denying it and Alpha Gabriel was not happy at all. Not because he was expecting Adira would have done something she should not have done, but because he had slacked off on an Alpha’s orders. What happened because of that? Tina was ordered not to visit the Pack House when Kinley was on duty. Him… he was ordered to spend two weeks tasked with cleaning the training grounds. It was the worst punishment ever!
In fact, cleaning did not sound so bad, but it was the training grounds. There were bathrooms to scrub, sand to shovel, fighting spots to rake out and the worst of it… the blood that needed to be scrubbed away. It was disgusting, smelt of dirty bloody men. Kinley did not like it and made him feel sick every day cleaning. It made him terribly hungry as well.
That was why he was in a sad mood when he finished two weeks after the punishment started. It was after dinner already and he was worn out and only heading back to the pack house now. He knew the food in the dining room would have all been eaten and so he aimed for the kitchen. Kinley walked in and looked up, not surprised to see Adira in the kitchen as well. He grinned at her. They were the only two teenagers in the whole Pack that had jobs that they were ordered to do… or maybe it was just him, considering that Adira was ordered to work, but she at least found something she wanted to do. Even so, he was sure she would understand his grievances over his disgusting job.
She was sitting at the bench, eating a bowl of what looked like grated carrot and apple, maybe some walnuts in it. Not something he would normally eat, but Kinley was hungry. With a cheeky grin, he went to a draw, grabbed a fork and moved over to where Adira was sitting. He stabbed the fork into her food, her looking up at him with a raised brow and with a playful grin he shoved the food into his mouth, chewing. At first, he had no idea what to expect… and yet… his taste buds flared.
“Holy s**t!” he said. “This is really good. Who would have thought.”
“Make your own you lazy shit.” Adira said.
Kinley almost choked on his food at her words, but looking at her he saw the small grin on her face. Did that little girl just pass a joke at him! Kinley laughed out loud, happy and proud. He liked her. She was awesome, different and not like others. No, he was not into her like a horny teen, which he commonly would be, but like she was a best friend, a family member. He liked her, worried about her, and wanted to help her.
We have unexpected guests. Come to the meeting hall, bring Adira.
It had been Sebastian, mind linking him. All jokes aside, he did not sound excited at all, and Kinley took that seriously. Sebastian was going to be an Alpha soon and Kinley would be a Delta for him. They were growing up, still young, but mentally they had to be wise and strong. Time was passing by quickly and they could not keep wasting it. Like Kinley had thought, maybe it was time for him to stop messing around, think with his head and not his d**k and grow up more. He could still have fun with his friends, but maybe he could be a bit more reserved when it came to a certain enjoyment… until he found his real mate of course.
Letting out a sigh, he looked to Adira, telling her that he had a link and they were asked up. Adira was confused as to why she was needed, as he was, but none of them refused the request. She left the food on the bench and they left the kitchen, both walking through the pack house to the meeting room.
As they neared, a low growl left Kinley’s lips. His nose almost watered from the bad smell that came into his senses and he picked up his pace as he continued walking towards the meeting room. He glanced back slightly, seeing as Adira did not pick up her pace and there seemed to be a confused, thoughtful and worried look on her face. Had she smelt it too? Did she knew who was in the meeting room. Kinley wasted no time, giving the door a quick knock and then opening it, the smell becoming two times worse, but he had to bare with it. Everyone else in the room was.
Alpha, Beta, Delta, Sebastian, Maximus, Nathanial and guards were surrounding the room. The Vampire named Sy was sitting in a chair with guards on either side of him. Standing up and also surrounded by guards were two tall pale people and with one look, Kinley knew they were Vampires. What was their purpose here?
“Baby girl!” a liquid warm voice breathed.
Nobody said anything, Kinley looked closer at the Vampire that spoke. She was tall, red hair, pale skin, a few piercings and very pale eyes. It was a different contrast to the Vampire next to her, who was tall and had blazing red eyes. The vampire named Sy, was calm, his eyes orange. The last time Kinley had seen him… his eyes had been like the other one, red. What changed?
Looking at the woman vampire though, Kinley could see she was looking in his direction, past him and a smile was on her face. She looked like a normal human person, but she just smelt so bad. He looked to where she was glancing and saw it was directly at Adira. Baby Girl…. Was that for her?
“Cat got your tongue?” the other vampire asked snidely.
“What happened?” Adira spoke up, her tone not very friendly.
“Adira?” the woman Vampire stepped forward but came no more with the guards blocking.
“What has happened Lady Cindy?” Adira asked again.
“Oh… how interesting this is.” The other vampire said with a snarl. “You come and stay with these mutts for months and now you think you are better than us.”
No one in the room was too happy at the words, and Kinley watched intently at that vampire. He seemed arrogant and did not seem pleasant at all. He spoke and never glanced away from Adira as he did. These were clearly Vampires she knew about, and that meant they were form the Semen coven. Lady Cindy… that was what Adira had called the woman Vampire… was the one next to her Lord Vincent? Were they the ones that had ‘saved’ Adira as a child and bought her up? If that Vampire was a Lord of a vampire coven… Kinley did not like him much.
Adira moved forward, coming closer into the room, she gave a respectful nod to Alpha Gabriel, and then she looked back to the two standing Vampires. She seemed like she was keeping herself together, but Kinley was very observant and could see how she had a hand by her side, holding the edge of her pants.
“Lady Cindy, please… has something happened?” Adira asked again.
“No baby girl. Not like that.” Lady Cindy smiled.
“Can you please… stop with that name…. you know… I am no fan.” Adira told her.
“You never have… I know you think it is motherly… but my dear girl, it is because I miss you… I miss my friend.” Lady Cindy smiled.
“I bet you don’t miss home.” The other stated. “Look at you, all grown up like a good little dog.”
“That is enough.” Alpha Gabriel spoke up annoyed. “Adira has asked and I ask too… firstly, why have you come? Secondly, why have you asked for Sy to join? Thirdly, has something happened. I have sent many requests for a meeting and it has been months.”
“Please Alpha Gabriel, we have come here with no intent to harm.” Lady Cindy said to him with a nod and smile. “Lord Vincent has received the letters, he has attempted to respond. However… each time, somebody has gotten in the way and cut the communication off.”
“So you have come directly to respond?” Alpha Gabriel asked with a nod, understanding the hint in her words. “And Sy?”
“We understand… you fear a threat from us. I promise Lord Vincent is no threat to you.” Lady Cindy advised them and looked to Sy. “You have information that you needed to deliver to Lord Vincent… but you came here first? He understands if you have not been able to return due to their fear and he blames no one. He sent Adira here to prove he is not a threat, in hopes you would release Sy and the information he held.”
“We are aware why Adira was sent here, she has been truthful in that. We have however, been wondering questions and would like some answers.” Alpha Gabriel stated.
“Typical… can’t even fuse a lie together to get Sy back.” The other vampire hissed her way with a glare. “You’d think growing up with us, you’d have more skills in lying.”
“I am not like you.” Adira said under her breath back.
“May I speak?” Sy finally asked, looking towards Alpha Gabriel.
“You may.” Alpha Gabriel said with a nod.
“I was meant to return to Lord Vincent after I gathered intel on Dark Lard Alexanda. He found out, he slipped up and I found out something that was important. I did not think I was going to make it back to Semen Castle, so I came here… where I knew the way things would play out, it would have been better off.” Sy explained.
“You got captured here on purpose?” the other vampire asked with a snort. “You are stupid Sy. I do not see why Lord Vincent even keeps you as a third.”
“James.” Lady Cindy spoke sternly.
“Please Alpha… before I came here, I did get one message back to Lord Vincent… and that was why he had sent Adira here… on my request.” Sy stated.
“Your request? Sy?” Adira said frowning.
“Alpha, you trust her right?” Sy said not look at the girl.
“Yes.” Alpha Gabriel replied without delay.
“Good. Because I need to tell Adira something very important, that only she can hear… I know this may seem strange… but once she hears this… she will know and then it is her choice as to what she will do… and whom she will tell.” Sy stated.
“Lord Vincent would not accept this.” James stated angry.
“Lord Vincent would not have sent her here if he had not.” Sy returned angry to match.
The room was silent. Kinley looked between Sy, Adira and this James vampire. He had a feeling that Sy was very serious in his words and Lady Cindy was not calling him out, meaning she trusted him it seemed. He did not like the James Vampire though. He seemed dangerous and Kinley was intent on keeping a close eye on him.
“Adira… I leave you to make this choice.” Alpha Gabriel said thoughtfully.
Adira stood silent on the spot, clearly thinking. She was not a silly girl and she knew that by this offer Alpha Gabriel was showing her his respect to her as she had given respect to him this whole time. She looked to the ground in thought and then looked up, with a nod.
“Ok. I will allow you to step out, but guards will need to keep watch. I want a word with Lady Cindy if you do not mind?” Alpha Gabriel asked looking at her.
“It will be my honour.” She said with a smile.
“I request for everyone else to step out into the other rooms. And as Alpha order… I demand nobody ears drop…. On my conversation or on Adira’s.” he stated.
There was no disagreement from anyone. A few guards stayed behind, guards who would be swan to secrecy. Kinley did not move at first, he waited until the guards guiding the James Vampire out of the room moved and then he followed, watching them and watching that Vampire. They went out into a smaller room, off to the side of the meeting room. They could not hear anything, in the meeting room, or from the hallway where Adira and Sy had gone with some guards as well.
Kinley glanced over to Sebastian, who had a thoughtful look on his face, as he leaned against the desk in the room. There was something on his mind, that was obvious, but he was not speaking it yet. Maybe because the Vampire was in the room with them, and it was not something he wanted the Vampire to hear.
