Season One. Chapter 13.

Alpha Gabriel sat across from the woman Vampire. The moment she had arrived, requesting to speak, he had been on alert. Seeing her actions, the way she spoke, and her tones, he found she was refined and well mannered. She was different and he noticed that her eyes were not the normal red that a Vampire would have. She had pale yellow eyes and that hit his interest. The room had stayed silent until Adira arrived and Alpha Gabriel could tell the different between the three Vampires when that girl entered the room. He felt, Sy, who had been in their Cells for months now, was very calm and collected. Lady Cindy was happy to see the girl. The other Vampire… James… he seemed less controlled and Alpha Gabriel did not like that. As an Alpha he had to make choices and thinks things through, he had to be careful and so when Sy said he had something to say but only to Adira, he almost felt like it was a trick. However, when he thought about it, and looked at the captured Vampire and saw the look in his eyes that could not be seen by the two Vampires behind him, it seemed there was something deeper going on there. He had to trust that he was not playing any tricks, and allowed it, taking the chance. This also gave him the chance to have a one on one with Lady Cindy. They were silent for a moment, as she looked around the room and then her eyes landed on him again. He had his hands folded on the desk and he watched her very carefully. She gave him a nod and another smile and let out a low breath. “Thank you for keeping an eye on her.” Lady Cindy said. “I see… Adira is growing well here...” “She… is different… and I want to ask you, without others over hearing… some questions.” He stated. “I can only tell you as much as I know.” Lady Cindy said. “Was she fed wolfbane purposely while at your castle?” he asked straight out. “Wolfbane? No… we would not….” Lady Cindy said in surprise. “She was.” Alpha Gabriel managed to cut across her. “When Adira first arrived, we did not trust her at all. However, things got the better of us and she needed to see our pack doctor. He confirmed she had it in her system and by the way it was… it looks like it had been given to her possibly every single day she lived with you Vampires.” “I understand you are angry… but… it was not something Lord Vincent allowed… I will report this to him when I return… it means… somebody else made that choice.” Lady Cindy said not happy, anger in her tone. “Is… that why she seems different?” “The young lady, there are many questions about her. She is young, tiny and very shy and timid at times. However… there is more to Adira then meets the eye and I need to understand it.” Alpha Gabriel explained with a sigh. “It has not been easy for her here, and a number of my pack and other packs have sensed a strange pull to her. She shows power at times… Alpha Power.” “Hmmm…” Lady Cindy said… like she was actually thinking. “Lord Vincent found Adira when she was a baby. She was no where near a pack. It was deep in some woods that he had come across. He found her sleeping in a blanket, cradled in the cold arms of what is assumed a family member… maybe a mother. The woman… was dead and likely so for three days by the time he found them.” “She survived for three days as a baby?” Alpha Gabriel asked shocked. “She is not normal.” Lady Cindy stated. “I can see that… but what do you know?” Alpha Gabriel wondered. “Can we trust you to not treat her any different?” Lady Cindy asked, generally concerned by that. “While we had our concerns… I honestly do not think Adira is a threat to us. She has done more then her share here in the pack, proving her words of why she came here.” Alpha Gabriel explained. “Alpha… before Lord Vincent found me one hundred years ago, I was the daughter of a mage. I lived in a coven of witches.” Lady Cindy explained. “I am not a normal Vampire. As I know you have noticed the colouring of my eyes. I have powers, and I do not feed on anything but animals. Granted, this does weaken me, but it is my choice and I am happy doing this.” “And how does this involve Adira?” he asked. “I can sense things about her that others can not. I have put protections on her that others had not known. If not for me and Lord Vincent orders, the Vampires of Semen would not have allowed her to live as long as she had.” Lady Cindy stated. “Adira has learned things from me.” “Like… draining Vampire venom from a body?” Alpha Gabriel asked. “Yes… not quite magic related, but near enough.” Lady Cindy said with a nod. “If she has been weakened by wolfbane this whole time until coming here… then I can only assume some of her skills will continue to grow.” “What skills?” he wanted to know. “You can not repeat. She will be in danger.” Lady Cindy stated. “We sent her here for Sy, to return him, but she was to stay. To protect her from the coming war.” “Why is she in danger? If she is here should I not know?” Alpha Gabriel asked. “Adira has the skills of an Empath, of a Healer and also… a Seer.” Lady Cindy stated. “I have been able to confirm her age and birthday, but something blocks us from finding out more. To me… there may be more magic there blocking the truth of whom she is and her birth pack. I have a feeling… she has magic blood in her… and if you are right… as I sensed the power from her when she walked in… Alpha blood as well. It is likely… her parents… were very powerful.” “So… if others know?” Alpha Gabriel thought. “They will try and use it to their own gain. Lord Vincent became aware before he sent her away, he did not tell her, because he does not know who to trust, but he does trust Sy and when Sy came here instead of home, to wait for her… it was clear there was a good reason why.” Lady Cindy said. “He got communication to Lord Vincent and even I do not know what it was, but Lord Vincent acted on it as soon as he could, putting plans in place for Adira to leave safely.” “Is it because… Dark Lord Alexanda is after her?” Alpha Gabriel asked. “I will be honest and this is why we have been wanting to discuss matters. Adira has been attacked while here… by one of the pack who turned out to be a traitor and working for that foolish Vampire. It almost killed her, but we think, because of her Alpha blood… she survived.” “This world is dark and yes, there is a war coming. Alexanda hoped to bring My Vincent down, to then take over Semen Coven and make it his own as well. With that power, he can attack packs at a deadly degree.” Lady Cindy said. “We will try our best to fight and bring him down first, but we need Sy home to complete his mission with his information.” “I assume that means… you want her to stay here?” Alpha Gabriel said, kind of happy. “She is safest here. Away from Semen and around those like her. It is time she grows into who she was meant to be. A strong werewolf.” Lady Cindy claimed. “Why here? Why not another clan?” Alpha Gabriel asked. “Lord Vincent explained not to me.” She replied with a shake of the head. “He tells me most things, but he had been very privet about the affairs with Adira since he found her. I just know, he had a rushed message from Sy, asking to send her here… to this Pack… for safety.” They both fell silent. Alpha Gabriel thought everything over that he had just found out. So… it would seem that somebody in Semen was feeding her wolfbane even without the Lord Vincent knowing. That was not a good thing and if that had been happening in his own pack, he would have seen that as traitor actions. Not to mention what Cindy claimed. That she was sent her to be safe… there must be more to it, but he had no idea until they knew all the answers. Thirdly… she had some magical skills…. Was that why she was so reserved? Because she sensed things, saw things… he had to wonder how it worked, what did she see and how and when. He did know though, that he would agree with Lady Cindy… it was not something others could know… not until Adira was ready to explain it. In their silence, the door of the room was knocked and it opened, Alpha Gabriel looked up, seeing that Adira had entered… she looked concerned and she looked around seeing that it was only he, Lady Cindy and some guards. It seemed that she had been given the news from Sy, and he followed behind her, the guards watching him following as well. “Adira?” Lady Cindy spoke confused. “I have informed Sy I will advise the both of you.” She said firmly. “Lord Vincent has a traitor in Semen Castle.” “Do you know who?” Lady Cindy asked. “James…” Adira said. “HOW!” Lady Cindy gasped. “While I was away, I saw him… with Alexanda. He had planned… to… give Adira to him.” Sy said. “That asshole! I am going to kill him.” Lady Cindy hissed, angry. “NO!” Adira said forcefully. “You can not let James be aware we know. He needs to think we do not know, until you get back and Lord Vincent has a chance to deal with him.” “Do you have proof Sy?” Lady Cindy asked. “I do, but I can not produce it right now… not here.” Sy explained. “Please, Alpha. I really respect you, and if I can request one thing… is to finally allow Sy to go home, to give the information he has to Lord Vincent…. This could be a saving point in the coming war. I know it is not easy, but it will help us all.” Adira spoke with respect and bowing at him. “I accept. I understand and I will release Sy. I have one condition.” Alpha Gabriel spoke up. “Adira… I request you stay here…. and join my pack.” “Join… your pack?” Adira asked surprised. “Yes. Would you accept to be a part of this Pack. It will provide you connection to everyone and nobody can continue to claim you are a rouge or not welcome.” Alpha Gabriel stated. “Baby Girl… I think this is the best. Lord Vincent and I love you, we will miss our little wolfy friend, but it is clear that you can have a much nicer home here.” Lady Cindy said. “I… I….” Adira said, sounding unsure. “I need some time….” She turned quickly and walked out of the room, not looking back. Alpha Gabriel knew the request would have been a lot for something just so out of the blue, with all the information received today, he could understand why this would have made her uneasy. As she left, he let out a small sigh and then looked to the other two Vampires left in the room. “If James is not aware of what we know… will he try anything?” Alpha Gabriel questioned. “No. He would not take action without knowing… to keep his cover.” Sy said honestly. “Good. Please… I invite you to stay, rest before heading back. Sy. I can not make up for the time you have lost while in the Cells. I could not be sure what to trust. I hope you can understand that I do not expect you to like us here, but hope we have not made you want to take revenge.” He spoke up. “I do not blame you. You are an Alpha and you did as you must. You treated me well, aside for some questioning. I do not need to take revenge, as you are not my enemy. In time… maybe we will see more of each other.” Sy said with a nod. “However… staying, even for a small rest… may not be wise. I think it is best we head off now, the sooner I return to my master, the better for us all.” “Very well.” Alpha Gabriel said with a nod. They all stood, and for the first time in his whole life, Alpha Gabriel extended a hand out to the two Vampires. They returned the gesture and shook hands. He found their skin smooth but cold and rock hard. It was strange and looking in their eyes, it now dawned on him why Sy’s eyes had gone from red to orange… Lady Cindy said she only fed on animals… and all they had given Sy during his time in the cells was animal blood. Did that result in the change… the food he ate. It was interesting… and it made Alpha Gabriel realise something… that maybe not all vampires were as bad as the old stories used to be. Maybe while they were so different… they could make alliances.
