Season One. Chapter 14.

2554 Words
Sebastian had been waiting in the smaller room for a long time that day, wondering what was going on and why so many secrets. He had a strange feeling in his gut that things were about to change but he could not pin point as to what it was. He was sure that his father was safe, he did not think that woman vampire was a bother at all and from his understanding Sy had never made a move against them, even while in the cells. It was just the other one, James, whom Kinley was evidently watching like a hawk. It was maybe half an hour before the door open and his father, Lady Cindy, Sy and the other guards walked in. Sebastian did not see Adira anywhere and he was confused by that. He could not deny that he did worry and think about her. She was young, but she was still well aware of things and he wondered what had made her not return and face them as the others were now. He took a quick glance around at Maximus, wondering how much of their thoughts did they share. “I have decided to allow Sy to return to his home.” Alpha Gabriel advised. “Are you sure that is wise?” Beta Luke asked. “I agree… they might be good right now… but how can we trust them completely?” Kinley asked stepping forward from where he had been standing. “I do not want to question your choices Alpha, but I want to express my worries.” “I understand your worries Kinley and I thank you for them.” Alpha Gabriel said with a nod. “What… about Adira?” Nathanial asked quickly. “I have already had a discussion with her… she might need a moment to think about it.” Alpha Gabriel answered thoughtfully. “Ultimately… she will stay with us.” “Hell YES!” Kinley said happy. “And what happens from here? Is there any threat of the Dark Lord?” Delta Danial asked. “There will always be a threat. But the Semen Coven are not one of them.” Alpha Gabriel promised. “For now maybe.” Delta Danial replied. “If we were a threat to you Delta… you would not be here right now… your pack would have been wiped out years before you were born.” Lady Cindy said. “We may be Vampires and you may not trust us for that, but we are peaceful. We eat differently, but we both have our people and care for them the same as everyone else.” Sebastian could see where this conversation was going, it would be a bit of a back and forth dispute on how alike and how different werewolves and vampires were. Maybe even witches… considering he recalled Lady Cindy had some magic… he was sure Adira had said something about that when she had first come to their territory. Thinking of her, Sebastian signalled his father and mind linked that he was going to go and look for her. His father did not decline him for doing so and so silently, he turned and walked out of the room, wondering where she would have gone. He knew one of the places she liked to go to the most and this was his first thought, to go to the garden and see if she was there. He had to wonder, if something was said that made her upset, seeing as she had not returned with the others. Was it possible that she did not want to stay? Was it her choice to go home but the vampires and his father would not allow it? Personally, Sebastian did not want her to leave either and was just as pleased to hear what his father had said, just did not express it as loudly as Kinley did. He felt it would be better for her here. Why would they send her back to the place of blood suckers. Even if Sy and Lady Cindy seemed like ok Vampires and they made it seem that Lord Vincent was, it did not mean that every Vampire was ok and by the sounds of things, for what information Sebastian had gathered, some of the vampires at Semen Castle had to be ordered not to do anything to Adira. It meant it really was not safe for her and it was better off she stayed away… stayed with them. As Sebastian made his way through the pack house to get to the garden, he was about to round a corner when he heard a small noise, like a thump and a slight gasp and then a snarl. He froze, pushing his back against the wall he was next to, waiting. He knew the smells. Adira… and that vampire… who was meant to be in the room… how and when did he get out? “Let me go.” Adira’s voice spoke. “Do you honestly think this is all going to work out in your favour?” the James vampire asked. “You know nothing.” Adira stated. “Lord Vincent may not tell me everything, but I know one thing… like I have said plenty of times… you will return and when you do… you know what will happen.” James warned. “I am not afraid of you.” Adira claimed. “Oh really?” James replied. Sebastian edged forward, he could tell by the tone and the mood he sensed from Adira that she did not like this Vampire at all and by his words, neither did Sebastian. He had to be careful though, because he knew Vampires were strong and he was on his own here. He could not set off a fight with the Vampires, otherwise they may as well just have some enemies on their hands. Getting closer to the corner, Sebastian looked around slightly to see. James had his back to Sebastian and he had Adira against a wall, hand against her throat. He leaned closer, sniffing along her neck, his free hand running, brushing along her arm. In a way that only one who loved another should do. This action, it made Sebastian tremble in anger and his stomach turned. He did not like James and this just made it even worse. “I am not as weak as before.” Adira said in a tight voice. “If you do not let go of me now James… I wont be kind, and you will regret all of those times you threatened me.” “You are just a stupid little mutt.” James snapped at her. “You can not fight me, never have. Maybe I should just get it over and done with. I am fast, I can say these mutts turned you against me… so I had to attack to protect myself…” “Don’t!” Adira said near fearful. “STOP!” Sebastian growled. He was angry, furious. He could not keep just listening and watching. He could see that Adira was not in a good spot, even if she was strong, it seemed that James knew how to hold her back. James, who had a hand against her throat, not only had sniffed her neck like some creepy old guy, he seemed to want to torment her, licking her and then made a noise. They all knew that noise… the sound of a Vampire about to bite and feed. Adira told him to stop and Sebastian could no longer do nothing. The moment he spoke, announcing himself, telling the vampire to stop, his Alpha blood was caressing through his body. His green eyes were turning grey and it was clear he was ready to shift if it was needed. At the same moment, footsteps came up behind, and Sebastian could hear a few extra growls and some hisses. He quickly glanced back, seeing Lady Cindy, his father and Beta Luke standing in the hallway behind him, all looking at the wall where James still held Adira against it. “James!” Lady Cindy snapped. “By order of Lord Vincent, you are not allowed to lay a hand on her!” “f*****g Orders.” James grumbled, looking in their direction, fangs protuded. “I am just teaching her a lesson. Not to turn on us.” “I do not think she needs your lessons.” Sebastian said coldly. “Adira… come.” Beta Luke said, a hand out. James had no choice and no chance to finish. He let go of Adira and stepped back from her. She stood against the wall for a moment and Sebastian could see the marks on her neck where his hand had been… was that… wolfbane burns? Was that how he had been keeping her from doing much just now? James was crazy, nasty and evil and Sebastian wanted to rip his head off. With a disgusted look in her own eyes, she gave a quick glance at James and then stepped past him, making her way to Beta Luke, who took her to the side to examine her neck, clearly he noticed the marks there too. “You used wolfbane on her!” Lady Cindy hissed at James. “I did not want her attacking me. We just needed to talk.” James said like it was nothing. “We are leaving and I will be reporting this to Lord Vincent.” Lady Cindy said. “Alpha… I am sorry this has happened. I shall leave right now with James and Sy. Please… look after Adira… we only may be a few years difference by age… but not by years and I have looked after her since she was a baby. I care about her like she is my own. Please, keep her protected.” “I will do my best Lady Cindy.” Alpha Gabriel stated. Seconds later Sy was bought to them by some guards and the three Vampires were escorted out of the pack house and no doubt will be led to the boarders of their lands, not allowed to return for the time being. With the hallway falling into silence, Sebastian did not know what to do now. He felt things were safer, now they were gone, but his eyes looked over at Adira. She looked troubled, and ran fingers against the burns. They had started to heal and maybe would be gone within the next hours, but something like that would stay in the mind and memory for a long time. “Was he like that… all the time?” Sebastian asked, stepping closer to her. “Yes…” she said sadly. He was silent, thoughtful. He remembered the time in which Kinley had hugged her from behind at the café and she had reacted in the strangest way. Now it had made sense. That Vampire was not a good one and his words made it clear he was always threatening her. He had almost bitten her, fed on her, but he did not, and it was surely the thing he had likely threatened her with other times he did it. No wonder she was safer here… even when she was here, James still thought he could bully her. There was no way he would allow her to go back to Semen and after his father and Beta Luke had seen what was about to happen as well, he knew neither of them would ever allow it. “Adira… please go up to your room, I would like you to rest. You have had a day that would be very draining.” Alpha Gabriel stated, she nodded. “Sebastian, please escort her back.” “Yes Alpha.” Sebastian said with a nod. They did not say anything more. Adira started moving, heading up the hall to the stair cases that would lead to higher levels. Sebastian followed and he heard his father and Beta Luke head back in the other direction, likely going back to the office. Following Adira, Sebastian walked a few steps behind her, watching her closely, not saying a word yet. His mind was going crazy with different thoughts, different ideas and he did not know what he should do at this point about any of it. When they actually reached the room, Adira reached a hand out for the handle, but then stopped, pausing and then looked around at Sebastian. He could tell there was something on her mind, and she wanted to say something, but what she was going to say, seemed to changed with a sigh. “Thank you.” She stated softly. “For stopping him.” “I wont let him… or anyone harm you.” Sebastian admitted. “Thank you. I will... rest now.” Adira said. Sebastian stood and watched as she then opened the door and walked into the room. She was silent and did not look at him, as she closed the door and he heard it lock from the other side. Sebastian stepped forwards for a second, wondering if he should talk more to her, but he decided against it. Placing hands in his pockets, he shook his head. He could tell, even if she would not show it or admit it. What James did, did not sit well with her. She was still a young girl after all and what young girl wanted to be touched and threatened like that? No one did. Personally, to himself, Sebastian decided that he needed to make sure Adira felt better, that she understood not everyone was like that. That she could have a good laugh and joke with people. He needed to plan something, set up a catch up or something, maybe at the café again. Where she could just be like any normal teenager and forget about the current worries she may have. As he walked back through the pack house, Sebastian was joined by his three friends, asking him what had happened. Alpha Gabriel had ordered them to stay in the room when they noticed that James was gone. Sebastian explained what had happened and he could tell it pissed all of them off, Kinley the most. Sebastian knew Kinley liked Adira… as a good friend though, and he was already becoming very protective over her and this set him into a range. He too came to the same conclusion in regards to the way as to why Adira was a bit shy and reserved. Knowing she was dealing with a s**t head like James most of her life, it was no wonder she felt belittled all the time, like she was not strong to do things. He had really messed with her in certain way, which was likely a reason why she did not trust easy or get close to anyone. They all agreed, they needed to do something different, something fun. She worked too much and so she needed a break. Kinley liked the café idea, while Maximus suggested a movie before. Just so they could really make some fun out of it. Sebastian thought this was a good idea, and so he hoped that Adira would actually come along and join them, to have some fun.
