After knowing what she did and the way James still tried to threaten her, it did shake Adira up a little. He was working for Dark Lord Alexanda, secretly telling that evil vampire details about Lord Vincent, planning to bring the Semen coven down. Only, he did not know they were aware. Sy had explained it all to her, why everything was as it was. Because he knew things others did not, things that even Lady Cindy did not and it was only by chance he knew, because James had found out and told Dark Lord Alexanda and of course, Sy had found that out.
She did not tell Alpha Gabriel everything that Sy told her, just the important stuff. She kept one thing privet, because she wanted to work out what was going on. Why did it seem that she was all of a sudden a target… had always been a target. She knew she was different, knew that there was more to her then just being a normal werewolf, but she did not understand why this meant people had to try and do harm to her. She had already lost many things. A loving and caring family, her childhood, and trust from many people. Being in Redmoon Pack was nice and they were all starting to get along with her, but she knew there would always be the matter that because she lived with Vampires sixteen years of her life, they would never one hundred percent trust her.
She could tell though, that people were trying. The guys for one thing. In fact, Adira thought that she and Kinley got along fairly well already, but after the visit from Lady Cindy and what James did, which they clearly were told about, he was super guy friendly to her. Always finding her at school in the halls for quick chats, dragging her to their sitting spot at lunch times. At the pack house, he sometimes even joined her now when she would do her personal training under the tree. She liked Kinley. He was a male slut… had been… but he had a good heart. He was a playboy, but when it came to being serious, he was right on it.
Nathanial was still his spectical self. Though she could tell he was a little more relaxed with her, but she knew he was still always keeping an eye on things, making sure she did not do anything stupid or wrong regarding the pack. Maximus and Stacey were great and always including her in on things. In fact, Stacey and Adira were getting closer each day, and it was the first time that Adira actually felt she had a friend who was like herself. Yes, Lady Cindy had been her friend, but it was a strange friendship in which they had. This was much different and from time to time with Abagail and Racheal getting involved she felt like she had a nice network of people around her.
The problem for Adira was, she did not know what she wanted to do, or where she would go once everything blew over. Once Alexanda was defeated, what would be the next stage in her life. It was clear by his words that Alpha Gabriel wanted her to stay, clearly trusting her now, but she felt empty. She felt like… she needed to know more about herself before she could agree to settle down anywhere.
For now though, she had to let things be, to stay… because what Sy told her… she needed to stay.
It so happened, that the others seemed to want to involve her as well. Normally it was at school and the pack house that she saw them. Due to working at the pack hospital that took up a lot of her time as well. So, she was surprised when Doctor Shelt gave her an afternoon off work, telling her Sebastian had wanted her for something. She was advised to meet out the front and when she walked out, she saw it was not just Sebastian but Maximus and Kinley waiting there as well. Adira was worried, that she had done something wrong, but Kinley laughed at her worried look and gave her a playful punch on the arm, telling her to relax and that they were just taking her out for some fun.
Fun… Adira never did fun.
She did not say much about it though, she just nodded, and followed the guys as they made their way down the road and sooner then expected, they arrived at the pack cinema. Stacey, Abagail, Leonardo and Nathanial were already waiting and not long after they had arrived, Racheal also arrived. There was a fair amount of them, and so it seemed they were all going to be spending time together this afternoon… starting with a movie.
Adira said nothing, but this was the first time she would be actually seeing a movie, or having an experience like this. Back when she was staying with the Semen Coven, all she did was help out and train. She had no time for any activities, so this was indeed a very huge change for her. Something different and she was quite nervous about it.
She did refuse to allow anyone to pay for her. Working for the Pack Hospital, she had started to earn an income. Generally, Alpha Gabriel required her to work there to prove she was willing to do as required, to show she could be trusted. Now, Doctor Shelt had started to pay her for her hours, because he trusted her and she stayed on working longer than any of them had expected her to. She did it because she enjoyed it, helping the pack. So, she had money, and that meant she wanted to pay her own way.
It was the same when it came to snacks and drinks. Though she was not willing to let other people buy the stuff for her… she also still did not trust receiving food from other people. She could not be too picky, but she watched the server like a hawk when he grabbed a drink and a packet of pretzels. The pretzels were sealed, so she doubted anyone would have suspected her to have come and bought those so she only had to watch and make sure the server did nothing to them before they were being passed over to her. The drink… well if anything was wrong with that… then she would not be the only one affected. Yet, she still watched like a hawk not completely relaxing over the idea of somebody else giving her food.
She knew she should stop worrying so much about it. It was clear to her now who had been poisoning her food at Semen Castle with wolfbane, to keep her weak. James. How he did it, she was not sure, but she knew it was his doing. On that fact, James was not a part of the Redmoon pack and so there should not be any threat of his actions like that, but she could just not let it pass. If there was one thing she was frightened of, and that was being attacked by wolfbane or silver. It weakened her gravely and she did not fight well against it if it was too much.
The movie… apparently it was a big hit for the human world. In Australia, they released things all the time, and in honesty, Adira did not have much experience with the human world. She had been there once or twice when Lord Vincent needed her to go out, for something he could not do, but it was always to small towns and nothing like a big city. So them saying it was a big hit, did not make too much of a difference to her. She just sat down in silence, in the dark and watched, not really reacting. She did note that some of the group reacted at times, but mostly that was them having a laugh at what happened in the movie, or a line said.
After the movie was finished, they all exited the screening room. It was loud and busy and it bothered Adira a little. She did not do a lot of big crowds like this, never had, so she felt very nervous walking along with the group, still not saying much at all. She just put one step in front of the other and walked head down slightly.
After the movie, they headed to the local teen hang out, the café that she had been taken to before. It did not seem as busy as last time, and due to the amount of them there, they ended up using three tables. Kinley placed himself right next to Adira, cracking jokes and trying to make her laugh. She felt uneasy, but she had to try.
July was coming up soon, and there was much discussion about Kinley turning eighteen this year as well. He wanted to have a big party, invite guests from both Redmoon and Halfmoon Packs. He had a lot of friends after all. Racheal suggested they asked Alpha Gabriel if they can use the pack house for the party, leaving plenty of room for everyone but Sebastian did not think this was a good idea and felt that it was better if they found a different place to have the party. Maximus suggested they could use his house. His family did not live in the pack house, and had a large eight bedroom mansion in the pack town. There was two large living rooms, a games room, pool and pool house outside. It would provide plenty of space and he was sure his father would not mind them having the party there. Kinley was excited about that, so they started planning, making sure they would have basics now to propose the idea to the adults and then refine the information later. They still had plenty of time.
After they ate and were done chatting, it was getting later in the day. Adira did not want to hang around much longer, but she did not say anything and so was glad when the process of leaving started when Racheal stood up and said she needed to go home. Kinley offered to walk her as he was heading home as well. Maximus, Stacey and Nathanial went their own way as well, back to the Beta House. Linking arms, Abagail and Leonardo walked down the road, Sebastian following them and then Adira followed behind, thinking.
She was not really paying attention and so without realising that Sebastian had stopped walking, she ran straight into his back. She gasped out of surprise for a little, and stepped back, putting a couple of steps between the two of them. Sebastian was looking around at her, a questioning look on her face.
“You will come wont you?” he asked. “To Kinley’s birthday.”
“I… guess.” She replied nervous.
“You don’t normally do this type of stuff do you?” Sebastian questioned her.
“Would you go to a movie in the dark and a meal with a Vampire?” Adira asked looking up seriously.
“No… no I wouldn’t.” Sebastian replied, as if he knew her point already.
She nodded and with a small sigh, put her hands in the pockets of her jacket, and started moving forwards again, stepping around Sebastian to keep going. He followed, now walking beside her. They were silent as they walked, but it was a comfortable silence. She could sense that he was thinking, like she was, so she did not disturb him. Ahead his younger siblings did not bother to pay mind to what was going on and that was good enough for Adira. She felt a little awkward. She knew, Sebastian was an unmated Alpha and the wolf pack did like to bring up rumours every now and then. She did not want to become one of them, so when people were not paying attention, she felt that was better.
It was though, as Adira got to her room that night, that she felt a heavy weight lay upon her. She let out a sigh, as she undressed and got into a shower, trying to wash all her hidden thoughts and feelings way. She was sixteen but sometimes she felt much older than that. Was it because she had grown up faster then most children would, or was it because simply being a wolf, their mind maturity was quicker then humans. Considering most wolves shifted young, and found mates by the age of sixteen. Half the population of wolves who found mates that young were mated and expecting pups before they were eighteen. In the human world, this was crazy and too young, but for the werewolf world, this was the normal.
After the shower and turning the water off, Adira wrapped the towel around her body, placing another one around her hair to catch the heavy drip. She looked at herself in the mirror. She was tiny in height and skinny in body size. If anyone didn’t know better they would almost think that she was underweight and ill. The truth was though, she may be tiny, but she was strong and she could feel the strength running through her, she could feel it growing every day.
Walking into the room, Adira let out a frightful gasp, clutching the towel tight around her body. She had not been expecting anyone to be in the room, so she had left her clothing in there instead of getting dressed in a steaming bathroom. She was frozen, her hazel eyes staring in shock at the green eyes of Sebastian. What was he doing in her room? Why was he just standing there looking at her.
A moment passed and then it was like he suddenly realised what had happened as his mind must have gone blank. Looking around, Adira saw that the door was still slightly opened, so she could only hope that he had only just walked in as she was leaving the bathroom, maybe not realising she was busy. He coughed and looked away from her, which made her feel that bit better.
“I… am sorry… I did not realise you were in the shower.” He stated looking at the floor.
“Do you need anything?” Adira asked him.
“My ummm… father wanted to have a word with you,” Sebastian explained nervous. “He asked if I could come and get you… I knocked and heard nothing, I thought… you may have been sleeping… I was coming in to wake you. I am sorry.”
He seemed so embarrassed by catching her just out of the shower and after he spoke, not making eye contact again, he quickly turned, mumbling he will be waiting outside of the room for her and then he walked out, closing the door behind him, giving her some privacy.
Adira could feel her heart racing. Normally she would lock her door, but she felt things had been going well and had not done so today. Maybe she had to rethink it all. Yes she trusted this pack… but she did not need people to just walk into the room if she does not answer a door right away. Maybe for them being members of the pack, they could mind link and get somebody’s attention. She could not mind link, and so it seemed understandable why they would have to speak with her directly, this was just bad planning and timing on a few parts.
