THREE

Alpha Michaels POV      I hate having to be out here this early. I should be in my office clearing up pack matters, but I must keep up appearances. Silver Moon is led by a bunch of f*****g idiots, so I find a spot near the road to sit and relax. Typically, I would at least attempt to be stealthy, but these morons won't notice me until I'm directly in front of them. The sun begins to rise, and I wonder if I could have sent my brother for this. I doubt they would have realized it wasn't me.        I hear their truck racing up the dirt track long before I see them. Suddenly, they're stopped right past our meeting spot. I stay seated and motion for my team to stay put. I observe the three of them interacting and catch on to the fact that she is just now being told about the trade. I should have known the liar wasn't serious when he said the woman wanted to trade herself for her mother's debts.        When things start to escalate, and I see the Alpha begin to lose control, it's time to take my trade. She'll be easier to control if she's a little scared, but when they're overly traumatized, they just cry. I'm not about to listen to some girl blubber for hours. Don't get me wrong, I'm not overly jaded, but I have a job to do. I need to keep up appearances and can't be seen as weak, so there'll be no time to comfort her if she weeps. Plus, who wants to deal with that out of a woman they don’t know?       The walk back is mostly silent. I contemplate if the entire pack is as daft as their leader. I hope her silence is a sense of responsibility and not her planning to run or being too stupid to ask any questions. I'm curious who names their child Ordinary. I've heard a lot of weird names in my time, but this one takes the cake.       As soon as I get her in the car, I see my brother, Jason, start to open his door. I slammed her door, opting to take my own car instead of using the ride to question her. I mind link Jason to order him back into his car, before mind linking my men with the change of plans. Jason keeps going on about something, he keeps trying to talk through our personal link, but I quickly block him out. Knowing him, he probably saw that she wasn't homely and wanted to get to know her. He's had a series of project women that he thinks he can save in one way or another. It makes keeping a housekeeper difficult, so I'll have to take a mental note to keep them apart.        The entire way back, Jason asked questions and wanted a recap of everything I knew about her. I didn't even know her damn name until I picked her up. I have no idea what he thinks I'll be able to tell him. We get nearly all the way back to base camp when my Beta, Wayne, interrupts my thoughts. Wayne sounds panicked, shouting through mind link that he thinks she's going into heat. He says she'd gone quiet and for a moment he believed she had dropped from exhaustion. However, her scent has become overwhelming in their car.       We all pick up the pace, speeding now to get the rest of the way home before this situation gets any worse. I mind link ahead to get the hot room ready and for all unmated soldiers to be cycled out and sent home. I should have been better prepared for this. My spies had told me she rejected her mate early on. Had I known she was still a virgin, I would have planned today much differently. What wolf stays a virgin so long after rejecting their first mate? What the f**k was she waiting for? And what the f**k triggered this to happen now?       Several wolves can be seen running along the side of the road. Any hope of getting her in unnoticed is completely out the window. Both her screams and her scent have now penetrated my vehicle. I quickly mind link the pack and order all unmated males away from the pack hospital. I may have picked her up to be an Omega, but I won't have any men forcing themselves on her. I pride myself on our pack having some set of values, but we've never encountered something this severe. Even Jason, whose one of the most emotionally controlled wolves I know, is starting to lose his grip.        We flew right up to the front doors of the hospital and luckily, the hot room team was waiting outside with a small collection of soldiers. Most of my men opt to stay in their seats, myself included, as I can feel my wolf trying to take over. That is until a distinct roar is heard over the noise of everything else.
