Fragments of Me: A Sister's Journey Through The Shadows Of Loss

(KATHRYN"S POV) 'Ben is involved in an accident ' I felt numb almost like I had been asleep and had no energy. I hoped and prayed that it was not true . 'Is he okay?' I texted back, but somewhere, somehow I wasn't sure because of the message. In the past, Ben was known for minor accidents. There was a time he drove in the middle of the night, and he hit a horse, we had to help him hide and fix the car before my father found out. 'I will call you back' That is the last message I received from my sister . I quickly got up from the bed, I got dressed and headed out to the family business, hoping to get answers . When I got there, I found a friend of mine and asked her to accompany me to the scene. It took us 30 minutes to get there . The longest and hardest 30 minutes of my life. Not a single person had answers for me, but I went there searching , telling myself that I had to come back home with my brother. We got yo our location, and it looked like there were only police cars and no other emergency units, I asked around, and no one was willing to give me answers, and it made me angry. I took it upon myself to look for him , and there it was, my nightmare on the side of the road under the black sky and stars horribly shaped like someone had kicked it . It was filled with blood on the seats I knew right there and then that my brother didn't make it . My knees felt weak , and my whole world turned upside down , what just a ghostly thought turned into reality. I couldn't let myself cry or get weak , I had to be strong for the family. I never in my life imagined that I would lose someone I loved dearly, but life always has a way of ruining everything for everyone. I thought maybe if we hurried up, then we would be able to visit my brother in hospital, but who am I kidding , with an accident like that Ben wouldn't have made it out the same maybe he would have lost his ability to walk and talk but it wouldn't have made a difference he would've been my brother anyway.
