Author’s Note For a long time suicide has been something no one talked about. I started writing this story after noticing a change in the media around the topic. It is now being discussed in an attempt to destigmatize mental health issues. Depression is a health issue. A person doesn’t develop it through any fault of their own. On average, 1 in 6 people will suffer depression during their lifetime. We need to talk about this to prevent people from feeling like suicide is the only way out, because it’s not. People who have been lucky enough not to experience depression often struggle to comprehend its grasp on a person. They may think it’s like being sad and a person should just ‘snap out of it’.
