"I saw her! I saw her!", Agnes screamed excitedly, running from her cubicle to find Uriel and tell him of the breakthrough. She found him sitting on the terrace just outside the breakroom. The late summer sunset bathed everything with a warm amber light and she stopped for a moment to take in the view, like a soldier who finally catches a glimpse of a familiar facade and the door that leads home. Until it dawned on her: this breakthrough meant more than just meeting Ava. Once she is able to pass through to the physical plane, there is no guarantee that she could see Uriel again. A pang of guilt stifled her enthusiasm as she searched for the best way to tell her lover she was a step closer to fulfilling her purpose. Agnes was not ignorant to the fact that this would eventually happen. When they are assigned their human, their focus is on helping them reach their true self. Only then the human is prepared to become a vessel for their shared soul and Suriahs can travel to the physical plane. It had been a couple hundred years that Agnes had been working with Ava -who was once a fisherman named Thomas, and before then, a Spanish seamstress named Griselda- when Uriel came into the office. He was given a brand new soul to work with. He was also very sharp and tech-savvy. Agnes was amazed when he developed a software that allowed them to project a human form when establishing a connection with their human, so as to avoid scaring them into blockages. And she was mesmerized when he would recount his audiences with The Teachers. It became so easy to allow herself to fall into shared covers and Sunday afternoon movies with him. Agnes figured they would enjoy the time in-between, however long that would be. Taking a deep breath, she shifted her focus to her fingertips and began walking towards Uriel, who was now looking at her with a huge smile.
