The light that shines from the other side.
Ava put on some music to fill the emptiness around her. She closed her eyes as it enveloped her senses. She imagined that her hands clapped with each snare and her head bobbed on beat until it was actually doing so. Falling further into a flow, her hips swayed with the rhythm and the hair on her skin stood up when the beat dropped. She felt the limits to her body expand as the vibrations pulsated through her. She was absorbed in this moment; no longer an inside or outside existed. On top of her dresser she had a matte black crystal ball that was a family heirloom. It was gifted to her when she was born. As she danced, the matte black color in the ball began receding and began to reflect light. Soon, it was glowing. A voice came from the ball and shouted, -"Ava, can you see me?" Ava's eyes snapped open and she found herself staring at the ball illuminating her room, the silhouette of a woman's face staring back at her. She rushed to the dresser and reached for the ball, pulled from her trance-like dancing. She looked into the face of a young woman who smiled at her but the matte black was already covering the surface of the ball until there was no reflection of light and it returned to its regular state. -"What the f**k just happened?"
