We go into the palace and meet the prince in the dining room. Cam went into the room first, then me, then Eli, then Hannah.
“You 4 must be the Aces. It’s a pleasure to meet you. But if I recall correctly, there were 7 of you, why are there only 4 now?”
I stepped forward. “The last generation of Aces originally had 7 members, after 3 died and the other 4 retired, there were no longer any Aces. We 4 are direct descendants of the original remain 4 and Arnold is recruiting our 6th member. We have a 5th but she has a prior engagement because she decided to surprise her brother.”
“How can you prove you are direct descendants of the previous Aces?”
“Hannah, projector please?” She hands me the projector and I attach it to my phone. I call my dad and when he picks up the phone all 4 of them were there. We were on a FaceTime.
“Mom! Dad!” Hannah and Cam call out at the same time.
“Hey Kids.” Their parents call back a bit sad and tears in their eyes.
“Hey mom, dad. Mars and I are okay.”
“That’s good. I never had a doubt though.” Mom called back.
“Your in the palace? So fast?” Dad asked.
“Introduce yourselves to the young prince of Valexteen.” I told all of them.
“I am the last generation Twilight Army Commander, Collin Carmichelle.”
“I am the last generation Storm Navy Commander, Elise Havak. But I am now a Carmichelle as well.”
“I am the last generation Solar Navy Commander, Alex Kantim.”
“I am the last generation Eclipse Air Commander, Margritte Hanks turned Kantim.”
“Now meet the young prince Rain. Pyrothons killed his father, your king, just like they killed Edmond, Cali and Ray. Do you remember them? The 3 friends who died in this foreign place when you brought them along. They died trying to protect King Arnold Vantrogan and his place on the throne.” The prince widened his eyes. “You abandoned them, so we took over your jobs. Have fun worrying if we’re dead or not.”
“Marshal Collera Devyn Carmichelle! How dare you talk to our parents like that?”
I scoff at my brother. “How dare I speak to our parents like that? How dare they leave? It was their selfishness that caused the prince to lose his father, made Mr. Vantrogan go into hiding, and caused Princess Theori to go into hiding after faking her own death! And it was their own fear of death that tore them away from here. Which might I add is the reason we were brought here. Sure, this place is cool but I have a test tomorrow and I will never be a pyrotechnician if I’m stuck here and and too busy fighting Pyrothons, that do still exist and are about to destroy 2 worlds as we know them.”
“You!” The prince yelled to get our attention and it worked. “They call you Marshal,right?”
“Yes, I am Marshal, second child to the original Twilight Army commander and Storm Navy Commander. My apologies that you had to witness such a family argument. We must have made you uncomfortable.”
“Not at all. I like you, you shall be my right hand man in this war.”
“I, Marshal Collera Devyn Carmichelle, is highly honoured to fight along side the prince. As the successor to the Hydra title, I shall fight alongside Your Majesty in hopes of getting the same title as my predecessor; Navy Commander. The Hydra Navy Commander Edmond Lonnel was the Hydra before me. He was 1 of the 3 Aces killed.”
“Come to me, Marshal.”
I began walking toward him and stopped at the bottom of the stairs to the throne and bowed. “”Please, call me Mars.”
“Very well, Mars. Let’s have the rest of you introduce yourselves to me.”
“I am Eli, older brother to Marshal. His parents are my parents. I am the holder of the Tornado title. Successor to Cali Kirmian, the Tornado Army Commander.”
“Brother?” Mom calls out, confused. We honestly all forgot about turning off the call.
“Brother.” I confirmed.
“Female to male transgender.” Eli explained.
“I am Cameron. Call me Cam. I am the oldest child to the Eclipse Air Commander and Solar Navy Commander, I’m also non-binary. I go by they them pronouns and I hold the title of Solar at the moment. I am my father’s successor.”
“My name is Hannah. I am the holder of the Storm title. I’m cisgendered and I am Cameron’s younger sister. Their parents are my parents.”
“So Cam is their dad’s successor, Eli is Cali’s successor and my dear Hannah is my mother’s successor.” I explained again. Just to double check whether or not he got that part.
“Dear? Are you 2 dating?”
Oh no my lord. She is not my dear because we are dating but because she is the only person from back home I can trust right now.”
“Ah yes, but please stand behind me and quit kneeling.” I quickly got up and stood behind him on his right.
