Her breathing was heavy, hands clipped behind her back as he moved steadily, knocking the breath out of her lungs.
“Good girl..” he whispered as he drilled even deeper, making sure she wouldn't forget tonight in a hurry.
Selene jerked up in shock, her body warm with something she couldn't put a name on.
Her eyes regained focus slowly, her head pounding as if something heavy had been dropped inside it.
That was one weird ass dream.
Her brows furrowed as she pushed herself up fully, her body protesting the movement. Her limbs felt heavy and a pain shot through her thigh, making her fall back into the bed in shock.
What the hell?
She glanced down and she almost screamed, she was naked. What the actual f**k?
Her eyes darted around the room, it wasn’t hers. Hell, it didn't even look familiar in any way.
What…happened to her?
Selene tried to stand on her feet too quickly and dizziness crashed into her instantly. She grabbed the edge of the bed, breathing hard as fragments of the night before flickered through her mind.
“...Relax…I have all night, Princess….”
Her heart slammed violently against her ribs as she recalled his voice…then his face….then the way he had pinned her hands above her head and drove her mad with his tongue.
“No…” she whispered, shaking her head as if that could erase the memory.
It came back anyway. His strong hands holding her in place, his eyes fixed on her as he demanded her entire attention while he pleasured her.
“Eyes on me…”
Selene’s stomach dropped. “Oh God…”
She's never had a one- night stand! Hell, the only s*x she's had was with her ex and even that had been nothing compared to last night!
Selene scrambled out of bed, nearly tripping over herself as she grabbed the nearest thing to wear. Her dress lay crumpled on the floor, and she snatched it up with trembling hands, forcing it back on.
‘Think. Think. How did I get here?’
Where is he anyway? Her eyes darted around again but it was empty. She wasn't sure if she was disappointed or grateful he wasn't here. Goodness, how awkward would the entire interaction have been?
A mistake. It was a mistake. We all make mistakes right? And she can always put this behind her.
Grabbing her shoes, she didn’t bother putting them on properly before rushing toward the door. Her fingers fumbled with the handle before she finally managed to pull it open.
The hallway outside was quiet. Selene stepped out and made her way down the corridor. Where was her phone anyway? She could recall looking for this last night for some reason.
Selene winced as her head started to throb, she could recall anything! Anything safe for that man and his dirty…sexy words in her ears.
Even thinking about it now, it made her toes curl.
“Snap out of it!” She muttered her breath. It was a mistake. A bloody mistake! And that's it.
God, Grannie is going to kill her if she finds out she spent the night outside the house last night.
Her steps quickened as she made her way towards the elevator and pushed the ground button. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. It's nothing.
It was just one night. There's no need to overreact or anything like that.
The doors to the elevator swung open and Selene’s eyes landed on a few people staring her from a distance.
Murmurs erupted around her.
“It's really her!”
“Oh my gosh! It's the same dress. Same shoes and same hair. It's her!”
She ignored them. She was the first daughter of the Wynne group, of course everyone knew who she was! She kept walking, ignoring the looks and the murmurings almost together.
By the time she got outside, the morning air hit her like a slap. A much needed one after what she still couldn't believe had happened.
Selene sucked in a breath, trying to steady herself as she hurried toward the waiting cars.
“Miss Wynne?”
She froze. A driver stood near one of the cars, looking at her with mild confusion. It was her driver, Anderson.
“You… you’re heading home, correct?”
Selene nodded quickly, not trusting her voice.
“Yes,” she managed.
She settled in the passenger seat and was soon on her way to the Wynne mansion. She exhaled deeply, she better have a good explanation to give Grannie or she's dead meat.
Hell, sleeping out was Kira's thing! She couldn't believe she had actively done the same thing she often scolded her sister for.
She exhaled deeply, that aside, what really happened last night? Before the….whole ordeal with that man. What really happened? Still nothing.
Selene exhaled, maybe she was too drunk to remember. Maybe she would after she sober up.
The car finally came to a stop at the mansion and Selene stepped out of the car.
She knew something was wrong the moment she approached the front door.
Everyone was staring at her. The staff near the gates, a pair of housemaids by the entrance and even the security guard who had worked for the family for years, his gaze lingered a second too long before snapping away.
Selene slowed as a strange unease crept up her spine.
What is happening? Or is she being overly sensitive? She glanced down at herself, smoothing her dress as if something might be visibly wrong.
Nothing was wrong but still…
She swallowed. Maybe Grannie was mad about her sleeping out last night and they were all staring because it was unlike her.
Maybe it was that. It had to be that.
Selene pushed the thought aside and stepped into the house.
“Selene!” A sharp whisper came from the staircase.
She turned to see Kira, running down the stairs with crazy looking hair and wide eyes.
“Where the hell were you?! Kira said, grabbing her wrist. “I’ve been calling you all morning!”
Selene frowned slightly. “My phone…I think I left it somewhere. Kira, something happened last night and I…”
“We're running away. Now.”
The urgency in her voice cut her off.
Selene’s brows pulled together. “Kira..”
“The old hag will kill us both!” Kira insisted, lowering her voice as she glanced around. “We need to leave! Now!”
Something in her tone made Selene’s stomach tighten. Her sister wasn't worried, she was horrified.
Reluctantly, Selene allowed herself to be pulled toward the stairs.
“Kira, you’re scaring me,” she said under her breath. “Just tell me what’s going on.”
Kira didn’t stop walking. “You don’t know?” she asked.
Selene blinked. “Know what?”
Kira stopped abruptly at the top of the stairs and turned to face her. For a second, she just stared as though trying to figure out if she was joking or being serious.
Kira cover her mouth with her hands in shock, “Bloody hell.” she breathed. “You really don’t know.”
Selene’s chest tightened. “Kira.”
Kira pulled out her phone with trembling fingers and unlocked it.
“Just… look.”
Selene hesitated for only a second before taking it with shaky hands. She clicked on the link and a picture of her stepping out of the hotel room she was in merely minutes ago was uploaded alongside another picture of a man walking out of the same room hours prior.
The caption beneath made her stomach drop.
“Wynne heiress spends the night with notorious East Coast Don despite rumors of his engagement to her younger sister.”
Selene’s breath seized, that man was Kira's fiancée?! The same one she'd be betrothed to years ago and the same one she'd never met before?!
“Tonight is about to be the longest you've had…..sister in law.”
Selene felt bile raise in her throat as she clamped her hands over her mouth. Oh my god. What the hell has she done?!
Her voice came out barely audible. “This…this isn’t…”
Her heart began to race, panic rising fast and uncontrollable.
“It’s not what it looks like,” she said quickly, shaking her head. “Kira, I swear, I didn’t…”
“I know,” Kira cut in immediately.
Selene froze. Kira’s expression softened slightly, though tension still lingered in her eyes.
“I know you wouldn’t do something like that,” she said quietly.
“What?” Selene muttered under her breath. “You're not mad? Why?”
Kira couldn't meet her gaze. It was all her fault but she couldn't bring herself to admit that.
“That doesn’t matter right now. This is everywhere, Selene. Everyone has seen it.”
Selene’s grip on the phone loosened.
Everywhere? That explained the stares she's been getting all through her drive down to the mansion even from her own driver.
“It doesn't matter.” Kira said, “I have enough money to start a new life in another country. We just need to get the hell out of here big sis.”
Selene's stomach twisted. “We need to get you out of here,” Kira said quickly, grabbing her arm again. “Before..”
“Before what?”
The voice cut through the air like a blade.
Both sisters froze. Slowly, very slowly, they turned. Their grandmother, Xenia, stood at the end of the hallway with dark eyes narrowed on both of them.
