Chapter 1 : THREE WEEKS TO DESTINY
Lucian POV
My wolf had been silent for two months, In a werewolf kingdom, that was not just strange, It was a death sentence waiting to happen.
“Your wolf hasn’t come out since the last full moon ceremony.”
Marcus’ voice broke through my thoughts.
I stopped walking, slowly, I turned to face him.
“Excuse me?”
Marcus stood with his arms behind his back, calm as ever. The man had been my bodyguard for years, and nothing seemed to shake him.
“You know exactly what I mean, Prince Lucian.”
For a brief second, something dangerous moved inside my chest.
Fear.
Real fear.
But it vanished just as quickly, replaced by cold anger.
“We are not having this conversation again,” I said sharply.
Marcus studied my face carefully. If anyone could read my expressions, it was him.
“You can ignore it,” he said calmly. “Because destiny doesn’t disappear just because you refuse to face it.”
My fingers curled slowly into fists, not from anger but from the truth in his words.
“I said enough.” I roared.
The word echoed through the empty hallway.
Servants nearby quickly disappeared around corners.
Marcus lowered his head slightly, not out of fear, but out of respect.
“You gave me this position,” he said quietly. “You made me your personal bodyguard”
“Yes,” I replied coldly. “and that means you follow orders.”
A brief silence passed between us.
But Marcus didn’t back down.
“You are the future Alpha King,” he said, His voice was calm.
Too calm.
“That means your life does not belong to you anymore, it belongs to the pack, our kingdom”
My expression darkened.
Marcus stepped a little closer.
“Your wolf disappearing… your refusal to search for your mate…”
His eyes darkened, “These things will not stay hidden forever.”
The words hit harder than I expected because he was right.
My wolf hadn’t answered me in two months.
Not during training, Not even when I tried to call him myself.
And if the elders discovered that…
They wouldn’t just question my strength, they would question my right to rule.
“You talk too much,” I said finally.
Marcus smirked slightly. “That’s because someone has to say the truth.”
Before I could respond, a guard rushed down the hallway.
“Prince Lucian.”
He bowed quickly.
“Alpha Azriel requests your presence in the council chamber.”
Marcus crossed his arms beside me.
“Well,” he said quietly, “Looks like destiny is knocking.”
I gave him an annoyed look.
“Walk.”
The mansion corridors felt colder than usual. Portraits of past Alphas covered the walls. powerful men, ruthless leaders, bloody kings.
Each one stood beside their Luna.
Every Single One.
Marcus walked beside me in silence, but I could feel his eyes studying me.
“Say it,” I muttered, “I know you want to.”
Marcus raised an eyebrow.
“Say what?”
“Whatever lecture you have prepared.”
He chuckled quietly.
“Your father will not change his mind.”
“I know.”
“Especially not in front of the elders.”
My steps slowed slightly.
Because that part worried me. If the elders were involved…then this was bigger than I thought.
“You could refuse,” Marcus said carefully.
I stopped walking.
“And hand the throne to Xavier?”
Marcus’ expression immediately darkened. “No.”
“Exactly.”
I continued walking.
“Then I don’t have a choice.” I said quietly
Marcus didn’t answer immediately, when he finally spoke, his voice was softer.
“You were just a boy when they decided your future.”
“That doesn’t matter,” I said.
“It matters more than you think.”
We reached the large doors of the council chamber.
Two guards stood outside guarding it.
Marcus suddenly spoke again. “There’s something else.”
I looked at him.
“What?”
His voice dropped slightly.
“The elders are not the only ones waiting inside.”
I frowned.
“What do you mean?”
Marcus’s eyes shifted toward the doors.
“Xavier arrived an hour ago.”
Of course he did.
My stepbrother never missed an opportunity to watch me fall.
The guards pushed the doors open.
The council chamber smelled of old wood and wolf musk. Twelve elders sat in a half circle, Their expressions were calm but their eyes were sharp.
Judging.
Measuring.
And at the center of them…Alpha Azriel, my father.
His cold gaze locked onto me the moment I entered.
“Lucian,” he said. “We have something important to discuss.”
His tone made it clear this was not a request.
“What is it this time?” I asked quietly as I stepped forward
My father leaned back in his chair. “You know the law.” he said quietly
Of course I did.
“No Alpha can rule without a Luna.” One elder nodded slowly.
“Our pack has followed this rule for centuries.”
Another spoke. “And it will not change now.”
My father leaned forward.
“You are twenty-five years old.” His voice hardened. “You should already have a mate by now”
“I’m aware.”
“But awareness is not enough.”
Silence filled the room.
Then he delivered the real blow.
“You have until the next full moon to bring your Luna to this pack.”
My heart skipped a beat.
“The next full moon?”
An elder answered calmly.
“That is correct.”
Another added,
“And the next full moon is three weeks from now.”
Three weeks, Twenty-one days.
That was impossible.
“And if I fail?” I asked quietly.
A soft laugh came from the side of the room. I didn’t even need to turn. I knew who it was.
Xavier stood near the back of the room, clapping slowly with a cruel smile on his face.
“Well,” he said casually, “That would be unfortunate.”
He walked toward the center of the chamber.
“Our laws are very clear.” His eyes locked onto mine. “If the heir cannot rule…”
He shrugged. “Then someone else must.”
The elders remained silent, but none of them disagreed.
Xavier's smile widened.
“If you cannot find your Luna in three weeks…” his voice dropped slightly, “Then I will take the throne.”
Those words stung me a like poison.
My father finally stood.
“You are dismissed,” he said, “Do not waste the time you have left.”
The elders began leaving one by one but the weight of their decision remained in the room.
Three weeks, twenty-one days to find a woman I had never met.
A woman chosen by fate, Somewhere in this world…
My Luna was breathing.
A woman I had never met, a woman I didn’t even want.
And if I failed to find her… Xavier, my step brother wouldn’t just take my throne, He would take my life.
Destiny had already begun to move.
And this time… I was running out of time.
But fate had a cruel sense of humor, because there was something the elders didn’t know.
Something even my father didn’t know.
If they discovered the truth that my wolf has gone silent, they wouldn’t just take my throne.
They would execute me.
