My alarm went off at six in the morning, as it does every morning, I lay in bed just a little longer thinking of how mundane my life has become. It is the same everyday, I wake up at six and head to the training fields. As the future Alpha of silver moon I need to be on top of my training and keep my strength up. Then I have a meeting with my father Samuel, the current Alpha, to discuss pack business for the day. He wants me to be involved with every decision and every happening of the pack so that once I find a Mate he will officially give me the title.

Although an Alpha can lead a pack even if he is not mated, My father believes we are weaker without our mates and should wait til we find our fated mate or choose to select a mate and create a bond with them. He has become so frustrated with me because I have not found my fated mate but refuse to mate with any she wolves I have met. I believe a bond is sacred and lasts forever so I do not want to just choose a she wolf just because she has qualities that are desirable for a Luna. I want to desire her as well as her desire me back, not just the title she will gain by being my mate. My Father unfortunately doesn’t agree with my point of view, he feels I should put my desires on the back burner and select someone soon, so I can take over as Alpha.

I have tried going on dates with several different she wolves but I just don’t seem to connect with any of them. When I envision my mate she is so much different, quiet, passionate, wanting to be protected by me, cherished by me and does not care about titles or money. I guess that’s why I am drawn to the females of the human variety. They have no clue about my rank or future title and aren’t so defiant and aggressive as she wolves.

If my Father found out about my soft spot for human women, he would be furious, he believes in keeping the lineage pure and not mixing with other species. But I can’t help this curiosity and lure that I have towards them.

I signed up for a dating app because as you could imagine it’s not easy to meet human woman living in a pack. I have met a few women already through the app, and even though I am more drawn to them than I am to she wolves, I still haven’t found one who made me consider pissing my father off in the inevitable way that will happen.

Then I saw her profile, I couldn’t stop looking through her pictures and reading what she wrote about herself. She was funny and passionate but also shy and modest. Her pictures were not flirtatious or revealing but her beauty was so visible. She made my heart race and my palms sweat as I clicked the like button. I only hope she would reciprocate so I could atleast talk to her. The anticipation was killing me, constantly listening for that little ding that signified a notification.

Days went by and the notification didn’t come, I figured she had rejected me and this sadness started to fill me. There was something about this women I could not shake, I had to sneak another peek at her. Her profile said she has not been active for several days, this made my heart leap at the thought that there was still a possibility.

I was at the training fields, sparring with my Future Beta Brian, who I had grown up with and sparred with so many times I knew his moves like the back of my hand. But when I heard that familiar ding I had been waiting for, the noise drew my attention immediately, throwing me off guard giving Brian the chance to launch at me striking me at full speed in the my side, knocking me down and giving him the opportunity to pin me. “Great, I won’t hear the end of this for a long time”, I thought to myself. “Hey man, I have never seen you so off your game, you ok?” He asked. I rolled my eyes thinking to myself what a stupid question, he would have never pinned my alpha wolf that easily if I hadn’t been distracted.

My wolf Castiel towered over any wolf I had ever met. Even my father’s Alpha wolf Gabriel was small compared to Castiel and no match for him. Castiel was an amazing wolf, with silver grey fur and what looked like a black mask surrounding his eyes and snout and he has blue eyes that make you feel like you are looking up at a cloudless forever blue sky, fierce but inviting. He was truly a magnificently beautiful beast and his strength and speed has gone unmatched so far.

Brian’s wolf Nigel, was about a couple feet smaller than Castiel, he was reddish brown in color with amber colored eyes that remind you of looking into a fire on an autumn night. Brian was my Best friend, my future Beta and the person I tell everything to, but not this. I would not be telling Brian this, his views were the same as my father’s and he would not be happy to hear that it is a human woman that has me distracted. First I need to know more about this woman and about these feelings I have for her. Now I will start with a simple message just to see if she even responds to me then we will see what the future holds.

Pov ~ Alpha Samuel~

I have been the Alpha of Silver Moon Pack for 26 years now. I have led them through so many battles, trials and good times and I feel my time as Alpha is coming to the end. I am tired and I want to live out the rest of my days that I have left with my Mate, Shelby, without the weight of the packs future on my shoulders.

My son is putting a damper on my plans though, he is so stubborn and won’t choose a Luna to Mate with. Although some packs allow their Future Alphas to take the reigns without being Mated, I do not believe in that. An Alpha is not at his full potential until he is Mated, he is weaker and not in the potion to be the best Alpha that he can be.

A Luna, pushes her Alpha to be strong but gentle, protective but fair and gives him a reason to come home from every battle. A Luna also gives the Alpha his most precious gift, the possibility to produce an heir. For these reasons I will not back down, my son will find a Mate, Fated or not, or he will not become Alpha!

Shelby and I have come up with the perfect plan to help him too. We will be throwing a masquerade ball in one month and inviting all eligible non mated she wolves from our Pack and several others. There is no way he can end the night without picking or finding a mate, not if we have anything to do with it. Now I just have to break the news to Zeke.

I go over to the training grounds to find Zeke, I figure it will be best to get this out of the way first thing in the morning. I watched Zeke’s wolf, Castiel, sparring with Nigel, the Future Beta’s wolf. Castiel usually has no problem taking down any wolf, but today he seems distracted. I see him look in the direction of the benches at the side of the fields then Nigel takes this moment to rush him, pinning him. My mouth drops open, what could have distracted him so much that is he was able to be pinned?

Zeke walks over to me with his head down, he knows I saw see him get pinned. “What was that all about?” I ask him. He looks nervous but just shruggs and says “ I thought I heard something, just an off moment I guess, what did you want to talk to me about?” I sigh, worrying about how he is going to take the news, I hate arguing with my son. We have always been so close and see eye to eye on almost everything, except this.

I turn around and watch the other warriors training. “ Your Mother and I have decided to throw a masquerade ball in a month, the sole purpose of this ball will be for you to find or pick a Mate, if you have not done so by then. This is not up for discussion and you will make a choice. Do you understand me?” I say with as much force and conviction that I can manage.

I see Zeke’s eyes turn a bright blue and I know he is struggling to contain Castiel. “ I will not be forced to Mate with someone who I do not feel is right!” He practically growls, slamming his fist on the railing. It kills me see him so frustrated but I have to hold my ground. “ You will or you will not be Alpha, make your choice!” I growl as I walk away so I don’t have to see the disappointment on his face. Only he can choose what the future holds for him.
