Callahan pov

WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE IS NO LONGER LIVING AT THE HOTEL!!?, HOW THE HELL DID YOU LET HER SLIP THROUGH YOUR HANDS!!!” i couldn’t believe this, i bet you a thousand dollars she left that night when she hung up on me, what the hell did i do. my mother is going to kill me,

‘Sir, Chirs said she left you a note, so i will bring it to you once we are back. Do you want me to try and scent her out so i know where shes at?”

“No, she's probably long gone now, there is no way we will be able to find her now,” I want the best trackers on her. If you find her, do not approach her in any way. just watch her. if she seems to run again, i want you to drag her back here at any cost, she will not get away again.” I slammed my phone down on my desk that's when mom walked into the room, she leaned against the wall with her arms crossed,

“So, let me guess, You pissed her off so she ran. Why the hell did you do that for Callahan? And yeah I was listening to the conversation.”

“Mom, before you go any further, I have this handled.”

‘Apparently you don't have this handled, you said something to make her run, she's your mate Callahan. We need answers to our questions. she's my soon to be daughter in law that will carry your pups, and here you are scaring her so she ran. Do you realize anything son, she thinks we are going to hurt her again. and here you are calling her back scaring the hell out of her,”

“I didn’t think of that,”

“Well you should have. Now we have to find her once again, and this time leave her alone, once your trackers find her, you call them back here and leave her be. She will come, and when she does, I will go talk to her. You will not scare that girl. we've done enough to her already. So let her be. Is that clear?” I stood there with my mouth hanging open. I didn't know what to say, I didn't know she overheard me making the phone call. and then heard Taylor, I didn't know she knew about the trackers i sent after her, my arms folded over my chest, i was standing my ground,

“Mother if i remember, you beat her too, you slapped, punched. and kicked her away from dad. you too would not listen to what she had to say.”

“True, But i am not the one that beat her with a bullwhip until she passed out, am I?” Now that was cold. My arms went to my side, my head slumped down, I was now looking at my feet. I didn't want to look at my mother. What she said was uncalled for, I sighed raising my head to look her in the eyes. I saw worry and sorrow in her eyes, i saw sadness then anger, I wondered what she saw in mine,

“Mother, i know all too well that I did that to her, do you remember me not wanting to do it. but another part of me was so angry. that I would not listen to anyone, not even you. you didn't want me to do it, you just wanted me to banish her, Yes i should have listened to you, but we were both full of rage and sorrow, I regret what I did. That's the reason why I had Chris go get her and help her, Now she's gone again. if they find her, I will have them come back here and leave her alone and hopes that she comes to the royal ball, But mom, its been two years, you need to find your second chance,”

“There is no second chance for me Callahan, if the moon goddess has another for me, then so be it, But right now i am still in mourning. So if a mate is out there, he would have to handle that. Young man, I know what you are doing. You're trying to change the subject. Nice try sweetheart but no cigar. Now do what I told you to do. Get on the phone with your men and tell them what i told you to do. now do it, or do i need to, because once i talk to them i wont be so nice.” I looked at my mother. I knew she meant every word, i got on my phone and told my trackers that once she is found, come back and let me know where she is at. just leave her be. i hung the phone up, looked at my mother,

“Are you happy now?”

“Yes I am. Now go do your paperwork and stay out of trouble,” i could only shake my head. sometimes my mother treats me to much like a child, i sat down poured me a glass of brandy, i really needed this after today, this was just all to crazy,

Taylor pov

I woke up so well rested, I didn't have to keep waking up wondering if someone was looking for me. I was so sick of running from my troubles, I was done being scared of that jerk. How dare he tell me if i didn't come to the royal ball he would come find me and drag me there, I will not be told what to do I do not even live on royal grounds anymore, they have no command over me anymore, i got out of bed to take a warm shower, i had to work today, i missed the hotel already, i missed Chris, and his daughter Tay, I know i would see them at the mating ball, I don't know why they even call it that. they don’t mate at the dance, how about call it the singles dance, i mean everyone is single until you find your mate. But I doubt they would ever change the name. After my shower i got dressed, put my hair in a ponytail, put my shoes on my feet, i don't wear much makeup at work. I work with animals, but I do put on eyeliner and mascara. Sometimes lip gloss depends on how I feel that day. I got in my car after I locked the front door of course, then headed toward work. lets just hope that today will be a easy day just setting up appointments, hopefully no sick animals, or having surgery on them, When I got to. the parking lot was full of cars, great, just great, i hurried inside to see if i can help out with anything, Bobby looked over at me from behind the counter,

“Get some scrubs on., we have a dog that swallowed something, the owner doesn’t know what it was, we did x rays., we couldn’t find it.” I looked at him sideways

“Have you tried giving him or her a shot to make them sick, it might help we could put them outside in the canal and see what happens,”

“ I didn’t think of that lets try it, it's better then slicing the poor animal to find it that way,” i walked into the room where the owner and a beautiful german shepard was sitting, the dog looked so scared, the owner was nervous, the poor dog was looking me up and down, then he started wagging its tell like he knew me,

“Alright, this is what we are going to do. we are going to get him a shot, to make him sick, were going to put him outside so he can throw what he swallowed up, im not making any promises, but this is better then surgery.”

“ma’am how much is this is going to cost, i can barely feed myself,” I realized what she meant, she had no money to help this dog, to begin with, is this dog even hers,

“Miss, is this dog even yours?” She looked down than back up to me, shaking her head no at me,

“No ma’am, it belongs to my daughter, she will be back in a few days, she trusted me to watch her dog,” sighing I knew i shouldn’t do this because i didn't want her thinking i would do this all the time for her, i made up my mind, i knew it would break her daughter's heart if anything happened to her beloved animal,

“Alright, this is what i'm going to do, ill pay for the shot today, but this will be the only time alright, lets get this started please hold your dog for me so he won't bite me, I walked over to the counter to put gloves on my hands, then i pulled out a needle and the stuff that would make the dog sick, i filled the needle just half way, Turn its head i don't want him seeing this needle, he might get scared and won’t let me get near him, The lady held the dog like she was hugging him making him look away, I took the needle, pressed it a little so the air bubbles could go out, then i shot the fluid in the dogs leg, he yelped that tried to bite me, I scratched his back,than tried to sooth him,

“Its okay old boy, you will be feeling better really soon, come on lets get him outside, it should be effecting him really soon, than we will see what he swallowed, it didn’t take long at all before he started getting sick he tossed his cookies a few times, then something really shiny was on the ground, i walked over to look down at it, i raised my head at the woman,

:It was a battery, you need to keep them up where he wont be able to get these, if the acid came out of it, it could eat his stomach right up, what's his name?”

"His name is Gin.” I squatted down to his height, he was wagging his tail at me. I knew he still felt kind of sick, but he will be alright,

“Alright GIn, your going to start feeling better really soon okay baby boy, You just can’t swallow things that will harm you, i scratched the top of his head, Alright guys, like i said, i will pay for the shot, your free to head out, I walked with them to the front door., Handed them the paperwork than said my good byes to them, Bobby turned to me with wandering eyes, i knew what he was going to ask so i told him what had happen.

“She couldn’t afford it, So i told her i would pay for the shot today, but it would be the only time, He nodded turned to the computer than the bill printed out, when it was done he handed it to me, just make sure it gets paid when you get paid alright, i put it in my pocket than nodded,

“No problem boss, I walked back into the waiting area there was only a cat that needed its yearly shots so i had the honors to put her blanket over her while she hissed at me while i was giving her shots, it turned out that she needed her claws cut as well, so i clipped her claws just a little that way they would grow back, they needed their claws so they could get away from dogs they could climb trees to get away, once done, i put her back in her carrying case, than gave her back to her mommy, it was finally closing time, so i flipped the sign to close than clocked out, i was so ready to head home,. Bobby was already at his car, when i walked out locking the door behind me,

“:So are you ready to go to the ball?” i shook my head no,

“No but I know I need to go, it's next Saturday, so i'm not sure if i'm going to go. im still debating on it,”

“Just remember, if you are wanting to go with us you can, ill see you tomorrow,:” he drove off, i drove behind him, i could had sworn a car was following me, but they turned off on another road, i shook my head, i needed to get over this fear,
