One month goes by. Luna's house had become haunted by silence. Neither Luna's mom knew what to talk about, nor did Luna's father. They both ate together but couldn't help registering the feeling of Luna not being there with them. Mr. Apollumy would call the rehab every single day, secretly from his wife. The receptionist at the rehab felt quite irritated by the calls. And his wife would sit in their daughter's room for hours. She prayed there for Luna's good health.
Both husband and wife would remain gloomy throughout the day, missing their daughter dearly, wanting to see her every day. One day, Luna's father received a call from the rehab. His heart was thumping loudly, nervous and afraid of the call. After all, it was his duty every day to call. Suddenly, receiving the call made him anxious, unprepared to hear the unknown "Hello sir. We called to let you know that your daughter, Luna..." his throat went dry on hearing her name. " You can visit her once every month on a Sunday after the 2-month period is completed." His anxiety turned into excitement. His eyes teared up. He instantly removed the phone from his ear and sprinted to his wife with the phone in his hand, who was sitting in Luna's room to tell her the news. "Honey! We can go see Luna once every month on a Sunday from next month!!" he picked her up and kissed her on her cheek. "Oh god! What pleasant news love!!" she rejoiced, as her eyes filled up with tears of joy. "Hello?" a distant voice called out. "Sir? Are you still there?" Luna's father was so confused at the voice. He looked at the screen on the phone to find out that he never hung up on the call. "Oh! my bad. Have a great day!" he hung up the call finally and smiled brightly, feeling slightly embarrassed for being so childish. They both hugged each other and decided to go out for a nice dinner.
At the rehab dr. Clara was checking up on Luna that evening. She knocked at Luna's door. "Come in," called out Luna in a low voice. Clara gently pulled the handle down and opened the door. As she opened the door, she noticed the room was dark, the lights were off. "Ooh! A little spooky vibe in here..." Clara stumbled on something as she took a step inside. " If I may...with your permission, that is, turn on the lights?" "Yeah. I guess" Clara felt for the switchboard behind the door. After some blind searching, she finally found the switchboard. She hit the switches on. As the lights turned on, Luna squinted her eyes, troubled by the sudden brightness. She was lying down on the bed with sky blue sheets and a quilt kept neatly folded near her feet. She placed her right elbow on her eyes, covering them. "How are we doing today, Luna?" Clara pulled the chair from the desk kept in her room near the bed and sat down. "I don't know." "Now that is indeed something that we need to address right away." Luna kept quiet. Clara had noticed that Luna's pillow was wet around her ears when she had walked in. Luna had been crying for some time, anyone could tell.
"Well. Let's just chat." Clara tried her best to lighten the heavy atmosphere. But she failed. Luna remained silent. "I found my true love at a very young age," Luna revealed her eyes from behind her elbow. Clara hit the bullseye. She had finally attracted Luna's attention. "I thought I'd even get married to the person back then," Clara smirked. Luna put her elbow down to listen to Clara closely. "We both promised each other to buy a yacht and that we would split its bill equally." Luna smiled. Clara continued, "So we started collecting money. And we saved up quite a bit." Clara laughed at herself. "But things were going too well for our own good." The smile on Luna's face faded away. She could predict something was about to happen. Something bad. "W-what...happened then?" "After saving up all my money for 5 years, my mother told me that the boy that I was in love with never really existed. It was all in my imagination." "I am sorry." "No. Don't apologize. All I want to tell you is that I know how you feel. I understand your suffering. I feel it." Luna couldn't believe Clara. She thought Clara made all that up to help her ease up. After that, she made small talk about her mood to get done with Clara as soon as she could. Luna wanted to sob bitterly. She wanted to trust Clara, but she couldn't.
After an eternity, as it felt to Luna, Clara left her in her room. The moment Clara left the room, the smile on Luna's face was wiped clean, her shoulders drooped, and all her muscles gave up. She sat there staring into empty space, wondering how long this t*****e was going to continue. She couldn't return to her home because she didn't want to upset her parents any further. But she also didn't want to live in rehab anymore. In fact, she didn't want to exist anymore.
