Chapter 3 - MEMORIES OF THE PAST

Jessy, was clutching on to her dress as wild thoughts were going through her head.

“Why on earth, did I agree to him to accompany me? Will he do something bad to me? Is this the person Auntie wants me to meet? What if not, and this is just a bluff?! Ohhh your so stupid jess!” she thought to herself clutching her dress tighter.

“Hey, calm down. I won’t do anything to you. I’m a nice guy.” Liam laughed as he glanced at her.

“I’m sorry, it’s just that I didn’t expect that Auntie would be so nice to let you follow me.” giving him a forced smile.

“She is always like that; she is a very nice and caring auntie actually.” Stepping on the breaks as the light turns Red. “So, how did you know Auntie?” he asked calmly.

“Well, my family have been visiting Auntie’s Cafe since I was a kid. I think they are friends with my parents, it seems they are very well acquainted. Well for me, it was the first time I got to talk to Auntie a while ago.” She paused and continued “How about you?”

“Me? I’ve known Auntie ever since. Same as your parent, my parent are good friends with Auntie. I guess she is just a very nice lady, right?"

“Yes” Jessy nodded.

They arrived at Parkson’s Residence and Jessy was about to open the car but was stopped by Liam. “I’ll go with you”

“It’s okay, I’ll go on my own. You don’t have to wait for me. I think he is not yet home” Jessy paused “Thank you for accompanying me.” then she got out of the car and left.

The windows suddenly rolled down then Liam shouted “I’ll wait for you here”.

Jessy just smiled and really didn’t mind what Liam said. She hurriedly went into the elevator going to their floor. As the elevator door opened, she suddenly felt all the pain and hurt in heart. As she was going close their unit, her heart was beating very fast. When she opened their door, all the memories of her and Jacob flashed into her eyes. Her hands began to tremble and tears started rolling down her cheeks.

“No, I have to learn to let this all go. I have to pack quick or else he might see me here. I don’t want to see him anymore.” She thought to herself as she went through all her things.

Jessy packed light, she didn’t bring a lot only her clothes and some important things and documents. She even left all the things that Jacob bought her, or they bought together. She was determined to completely get rid of him. She only had one big luggage with her and she hurriedly went down.

Upon arriving at the lobby, Jessy didn’t expect to see Liam still patiently waiting for her. She thought he was long gone; she did not believe that he will really wait.

Liam seems to see through Jessy’s face “You seemed shock to see me here?” Liam laughed “I told you I will wait, right?” as he walks forward to Jessy.

“I just didn’t think you would really wait” Jessy said feeling a bit embarrassed.

“hahaha. I am not like him” as he took her luggage from her hand.

“He probably has heard everything I told Jacob earlier” She thought.

Liam placed her luggage at the trunk of the car and opened the passenger seat for Jessy while gesturing her to get in.

Jessy then obediently got in the car. Liam then closed the door and went to the driver’s side.

“So, where are we heading next?” asking Jessy, as he starts the car.

“Oh, that. uhmm. well…”

Liam interrupted “Tell me where your parents leave, I’ll send you there.”

“Well, I don’t have them anymore.” As she looked down trying to stop her tears.

Liam looked at her, “I’m sorry.”

She then looked at him with a gentle smile “It’s okay. You didn’t know. I lost both of them a few months back. They had a freak accident. So basically, I’m all alone.”

“Well, you are not alone!” Liam smiled, “I lost mine too, my dad got sick and died few years back. My mom basically lost it, and died a few months after.” He then added “So I am used to leaving alone and handling stuffs on my own. I have a brother, but he is studying in the States. It seems that Auntie is my only family here, that’s why it became a habit of mind to visit her often.”

“I see. At least you have a brother.” Jessy smiled and continued “I’m an only child, so yes I’m still learning and will continue to learn to be alone”.

They both laughed at the similarities they both have. Liam then asked Jessy, “So, where shall I take you?”

“I honestly don’t know yet. I wasn’t really expecting this.” She paused and continued, “This is really awkward, but can you send me to the Flower Inn? I’m really short right now and that is the only place I know I can afford until I can get an apartment.” She said as she blushed.

Liam kept quiet for a while and was at deep thought. “Don’t worry, I know a place where you can stay”.

Then Liam took off. The drive was rather short and more relaxed. Perhaps because they have opened up about themselves a bit and that Auntie Su was a common person between them.

After a few minutes they arrived at the Hyatt Residences. The most luxurious Residence in the entire Country X. it is known that only a handful of people leave there because of the price of the units and only a few of the richest stars can even afford the place.

“uhmm. I think we got the wrong address” Jessy laughed “I can’t even afford to get in that place, they would basically kick me out right away.” she continued to laugh.

“We didn’t get the wrong address. This is where I was really thinking of bringing you.” He smiled gently at her.

“You must be kidding me?! how on earth I’ll be able to pay for a place like this?!!” as she was about to blow up her anger at Liam, the valet personnel then opened the door for her and greeted Liam.

“Good evening, Sir Liam” the valet personnel greeted him courteously.

Jessy was dumbfounded with what she saw and heard. “Sir Liam? Who is this man? Maybe he works here.” she thought to herself, while trying to bring back her composure.

The valet personnel took the keys from Liam, as Liam took Jessy’s luggage from the trunk of his car. He then reached out for Jessy’s hand to bring her inside the building, but she stepped backed and asked Liam with a faint smile.

“Do you work here? Why are we here? If you are thinking that I am rich and can basically pay for this place, let me tell you ahead. I’m actually broke.”

Liam grabbed her hand and pulled her inside while saying “I have a place here which I don’t use anymore, you can stay there.” He smiled.

“wh... what? you have a place here?”

Liam nodded.
