Chapter1
Adelia POV
"Guys, come on! We're going to be late." I shouted at my two cousins, who had been going around in circles since we woke up.
Sarah was in the mirror fixing her makeup and hair, while Serena was on her phone doing—only God knows what?
Immediately, she jumped up from the bed.
“Oh my days, how on earth did I not know about this?"
“What?" Her sister and I asked at the same time.
“Today is Damien's birthday. As in, The Damien Eastwood."
Sarah rushed over to her and sat on the bed, and the both of them ogled over him on her phone.
I hated Damien Eastwood. With everything in me. The way he treated me all these years was next to inhumane. All the embarrassment and humiliation that he made me suffer were going to come to an end soon.
I was finally going to get my chance to make him feel the same way. Damien was a pig, and unfortunately, no one saw him that way because they were all under his damn spell.
Since I was the only one who complained about him, I like to think that I'm the only one who has ever turned down his advances, and that's the reason he treats me this way.
This was the chance I've been looking for, and I've finally found it.
“Where is the party?" I asked, and both of them looked up from the phone.
“Why're you asking?"
I was going to have to try very hard to make them believe that I actually wanted to go, so they wouldn't suspect anything.
“If it's Damien's birthday, then it's going to be fun. Let's go there instead of the cinema. Maybe we could find some really hot guys there."
That seemed to be enough for them to get up from the bed and start getting ready.
The particular incident I could never forget was when we were still in high school and he filled my locker with cockroaches. As if that were not enough, he spread rumours that I had lice, and that was why I hadn't come to school in the past few weeks, when the truth was that he had broken my hand.
I hated Damien with everything in me, and his birthday was the perfect opportunity for me to show him that he wasn't the only one who was devious and scheming.
I quickly packed a couple of herbs for my plan and carefully thought of how I was going to execute it. The girls finished getting ready, and we made our way to Damien's house.
Just because he's Alpha's son, girls seem to flock around him very much, and none of them have the brains to turn him down. That includes my cousins, sadly.
Seeing him smile as people flocked around him with well-wishes and love made my blood boil. I wanted to throw acid all over him and make him suffer so much.
That stupid smirk has never left his face.
His face…..
“Adelia, let's go." We entered the party, and I made sure to stay away from his line of sight because I didn't want him to see me before I executed my plan.
They began singing the happy birthday song, and I saw the cake. It was his eighteenth birthday, and he was already this irritating and cocky.
Well, I was going to do something about that. I waited till they finished the song to walk over to him. I wanted him to know that I was the one who poisoned him.
I took the powder out of my bag and poured a little into my hands. It would save me time.
“Happy birthday, Damien."
He stopped talking to a group of guys and turned around to look at me with that smirk that irritated me so much. I noticed the drink he dropped on the table.
“Well, well, well. I know you aren't one of my well-wishers."
“You're wrong, Damien. I came here to wish you a happy birthday. Let's put the past behind us and have a fresh start."
I pulled him in for a hug and whispered in his ear.
“And for your birthday present, a little something in your drink will help you feel brighter, if you know what I mean.
As I pulled away, he planted a kiss on my cheek, and it took everything in me not to gag.
“Maybe if you're a good boy, you could get a better gift later."
I made sure to sway my hips as I walked away because I knew he was looking. Those stupid friends of his gave him high fives and clapped his back as if he had done something worth a feat.
Knowing what was about to happen, it would be in my best interest to get out of here, but I needed to wash my hands quickly and mix the antidote because of the powder that I had on my hands.
I locked the bathroom as soon as I entered, and I hadn't even dropped my bag before I heard Damien's scream. s**t, I had given him too much, and the effects had taken place sooner than I'd expected.
“Find her!" He sounded very mad.
What were the chances that he was talking about someone else?
I quickly whisked up the antidote and applied it to my hand. Immediately, the itching sensation I felt calmed down.
The door suddenly swung open, and I didn't even need to turn around to know it was Damien.
“What the hell? No, it can't be you." He whispered behind me.
“It's me, Damien. I poisoned you." I said it proudly.
Okay, maybe the powder had done too much. The pimples on his face were huge, and they looked painful and sore.
“You can't be my mate."
That was when I smelled it. My father had told me that there was a fragrance that only your partner exuded, and it was special for each couple.
My heart beat loudly, and I stepped away from him, shaking my head. There was absolutely no way I was going to accept this bastard as my future husband.
“Trust me, I'm not interested either. I, Adelia Black, reject Damien Eastwood as my mate."
