The world is falling apart—and so is everything Arlette thought she knew.

As chaos spreads across the northern camps, Arlette Varyn fights to protect what little remains of her fractured world. When an ambush forces her, her brother and their friends to flee the only home they’ve ever known, she crosses paths with Nixon King, a commanding alpha whose presence stirs a bond she never thought she’d find amidst the chaos—her fated one.

Together, they rally the survivors, but danger lurks in every shadow and the threats they face are not just from the outside.

Shadows from Arlette’s past are closing in, but she has no idea who—or what—is pulling the strings. Every attack feels deliberate, like part of a sinister plan that has been unfolding long before she could see it, as if someone is playing a deadly game with their lives.

Plagued by haunting visions of devastation, she begins to sense that the answers lie buried somewhere in her past, but the truth is still out of reach.

The closer she gets to uncovering the mystery, the more she fears what she may discover—that her fate—and the fate of everything she holds dear—may be tied to the very darkness threatening to consume their world.

As alliances crumble and secrets are unearthed, Arlette must face a terrifying reality: to save those she loves, she must confront the force that has been hunting her all along. But will she survive when the enemy is far closer than she ever imagined?

She will either save their world or be it's end.

Prologue
Darkness looms over their world, rearing its ugly face. Chaos, everywhere. The smell of burning trees and homes fills the air. Once a source of beauty, now a gut-twisting sight to behold. Flowers and grasses lie dead, burned or trampled upon, The smell of blood cannot be missed amidst the chaos. Bodies lie scattered, some still bleeding, most blackened or ashen in complexion. Everyone runs—the Magi, wolves, hybrids, and many creatures. But there is no escape. Her bare feet pads the once beautiful grassland as she weaves around the bodies and blood. But her gown isn't spared as it carried the blood and death along with her. Her beautiful red hair, streaked with silver at the side, runs down her back, and the runes that cover her arms glow with the same color they used to. Only now, it is icier, illuminating the evil within. Her face betrays no emotion, but her milky eyes release volumes of fear into anyone who dares look. The deadness in them makes even the most powerful creatures cower and retreat. None can challenge her. The power running through her veins belittles theirs by far. The ones behind her follow with the same intent of evil, ready to obey her every command. She stops. They stop. A tense silence lingers before she raises her hand. The signal is given. Her minions howl with joy—joy to destroy. And they are released. They ravage, killing and torturing all in sight. Her eyes catch a figure hiding in the shadows. There is no recognition, no remorse as she raises her hand again. The figure collapses to the ground in unimaginable pain, their body wracked with convulsions as a glow of light emerges from their form. The light moves toward her, filling her, while their skin turns ashen, drained of life and power. There is no trace of the girl she once was. A different person now stands in her place. Her new kingdom rises, built on the fear of those who bow before her and the blood of those who refuse to. Mercy does not exist in this new world. Soon, her tentacles of doom will spread beyond the hemisphere, and no one, no creature, will be spared. She will sit at the seat of power, under no one's control. They will all cower before her, and she will bask in their fear—knowing she is the cause of it. Kingdoms will fall for hers to rise, and she will stand, watching, destroying… At the center of it all.
