Chapter 3

1483 Words
I can't help but be jealous. Seeing a young couple flirting around inside the classroom and friends playing around loudly, enjoying their youth. I can't have that kind of thing so I could only look at them while thinking, 'How nice it is to be young and enjoy youth in a carefree manner.' I also want to experience that too. The kind of feeling where you goof around with your friends, cut class from time to time, and break some rules here and there. Ah, that would be bad though—if ever I get caught. Honestly, I can't help but think that my everyday life is boring. It's the same, it repeats. I just wished that something exciting would happen. For example: A large group of terrorist suddenly invaded the school or maybe an alien invasion. Perhaps a human from another dimension would suddenly appear and kidnaps me to be his bride or something. Like they say: Be careful of what you wished for. I asked for something bizzare and looked they gave it to me. I'm so happy… Not! Hey, hey! I was only kidding when I made that wish. Why did it suddenly come true? I didn't really expect the wish I made when I was bored came true. I let out a depressed sigh when I raised my head to look at… another world. It was really an interesting experience. At the same time, I feel like I'm stuck in a predicament. What to say. I can't really think of anything. My mind is blank. Everything happened too suddenly. After the cat said that I was suitable for becoming a bride (though he took it back after realizing I'm special), the youth knelt down at the very moment and under the pretense of love at first sight, he proposed to me. I subconsciously said 'Yes.' as this was my first time receiving a proposal. (No, not really. He had to beg—Ah, I mean convince me to be his bride). The next thing I knew, I was standing in a patch of grass, on top of the cliffs. I should have thought more. My gaze fell onto the youth who claimed to be a Prince and a Wizard. His name is Claude something Franz. Sorry that I'm bad at remembering names! I lightly touched the necklace hanging on my neck. This was the only possesion that I have when I came to this world, if we exclude my uniform. Is this real? I pinched my cheeks and felt pain. Yep, this is real. I wanted to cry but no tears are coming out. This is not Earth, but I'm in another world. "U-Um… Excuse me…" My voice faltered after seeing his cold stare. Yikes! Is this how you treat your bride? Nevertheless, I still found my courage to speak, although it was shaky. "W-Where are we…?" "…We are in Sarain Cliffs." ??? Where did you say??? Claude surely noticed that I did not understand but didn't explain further. He just did his own thing. The cat on his shoulders shook their heads and jumped down. Then they glowed and—nothing happened. How anticlimactic. "Human, you must be confused right now." A genius! Ladies and gentlemen, we got a genius right here! A round of applause for this genius, please! Okay, enough fooling around. I need to listen seriously. "There is nothing I can do about you being here as Master's orders are absolute. This world is Celes. It is similar to your world, Earth. However, you may see creatures that are different from your world, so don't be surprised. As for technology…don't act like a country bumkin later. From now on, you will be living here. Returning back to your world would be impossible, so I apologize. I will be refraining from explaining any further. As you live here, the more you will learn about this world. That is all." Then he stopped as if remembering something. "Ah, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Magu, Master Claude's familiar." After that, Magu didn't talk to me anymore. There was nothing but silence between us. Since nobody is talking and they are ignoring me, I could only go to the edge of the cliffs. They did not stop me so I assumed that it was safe. I sat down and looked at the world I'm going to live in. The air here was fresh, unlike the polluted air back on Earth. The sun is still high up in the clear blue sky. Beyond the cliffs, on the North, I could vaguely see a blue place—probably the sea; on the west were filled with giant trees towering a few meters tall; on the east were a tall mountain— it's top were covered in white snow. I couldn't see much in the south, there were only grasslands there. If it was the usual, then I would probably be watching the sky, eating some snacks. Come to think of it, I'm hungry. I rubbed my stomach and glanced at Claude, who seems to be fixing a round thing. There was a frown on his face, looking impatient. Seems like I shouldn't bother him. I turned back my head and lied down. I'm feeling sleepy. I should just go with the flow and accept the situation, that way, there would be less trouble. And so, I slowly closed my eyes and fell asleep in this world. ✧✧✧ "Master, I'm tired. We should take a rest. Aren't you also tired?" "Quit whining. We have to get to the capital within a week." I heard whispers within my groggy state. When I opened my eyes, it was dim. The only source of light was the lamp being held by Claude and the moonlight. We were walking in a forest, uh, it seems like only two were walking. I realized that I was being carried on Claude's back. Strangely, I felt comfortable and safe. He maintained a pace that wasn't too slow nor fast. They haven't noticed that I woke up yet and just continued whispering to each other. "But master…" Magu was about to complain but was turned down with Claude's whisper shout. "Shut up! One more word and I'll leave you behind." As soon as he finished talking, my stomach grumbled on cue. My face heated up from embarrassment and buried my face on his neck. I could faintly feel his body stiffening but it must have been my imagination as he spoke calmly. "You're awake. Why didn't you say so?" He continued to tread through the forest. It seems like he doesn't plan to rest any time soon. "Aren't you tired? Why don't we take a short break?" Claude snorted in response, but still complied. He gently put me down on the ground. Then he took out a weird device and placed it on the ground after pushing the button on it. Out of thin air, a campfire suddenly popped out. "Is that magic?" Claude shook his head. "It's just a portable campfire." Oh, it's just advance technology. Wait, shouldn't this be a fantasy world? I mean, the stereotypes should be something like medieval era. So how come their technology is more advance than ours? "We don't need to use magic on such trivial things." Surprisingly, he took the initiative to explain. Sadly, that's not the answer I'm looking for. Claude finished setting up what he called 'defense formation' and sat down next to me. He took out another weird device. He said that it was a 'spatial bag' capable of storing different kinds of things without it getting heavy. You could also store food there and it would not go bad, like the cooked meat skewer he took out. The meat was stored for years; it looked like it was just freshly cooked. There is a restriction though and these are: The spatial bag is not capable of storing living beings. There is a limit capacity depending on the size or quality. Only the owner could use it. If the owner dies then it will be marked as abandoned and anybody who picks it up could freely use it. There were also other types of spatial storages, like an accessory— the price of it is astronomical, a commoner should never dream of owning it, unless they kill the owner, of course. It is typically used by nobles and the royal family. How magical. They were able to utilize magic and advance their technology. All the things here is convenient and useful. What was more impressive is that Claude took time to explain it to me, though, his explanation is only limited to spatial storage and the campfire. Still, I had fun listening and learning new things. It's more exciting than studying school. I couldn't help but look forward to my life from here onwards.
