Chapter 2

910 Words
"A Bride?" I muttered in surprise. Even the boy seemed surprised, let's add the cat too. I looked at the cat with a confused expression, not noticing the weird look of the boy. "Why do you need a bride?" The cat stared at me with its shaky golden eyes and wide-open mouth. Eh? What's wrong with this cat? I have long accepted that you are talking, but you aren't going to accept me. Okay, maybe I was just hallucinating earlier and the cat thought I must have been a weird human. "You can see Magu?" The boy asked, making me turn my attention towards him. He had a dumbfounded look on his face. Magu, is it the cat? I raised my brows and opened my mouth to speak. "Of course, I can see that." I pointed to the cat, whose name is Magu. What's wrong with these people? "What an interesting human." The rough metallic voice entered my ears. The cat jumped down from the boy's shoulders and circled around me. "You are strange." You are the strange one! "Ordinary people can't see me, so how come you can see me? You are definitely a strange human." The cat sniffed me and then looked at my body, then my eyes. I stiffened for a moment, uncomfortable being stared at by those eyes, like they were trying to pry open my mind. "Hmm...You smell like a human, yet not. You look like a human, yet not. Tell me, what are you?" "What are you talking about? Of course, I'm human!" I felt insulted when it told me that I'm not a human. It felt like they were saying that I'm a 'monster'. "i***t Master, it seems like I was mistaken. Let's not take her as your bride. It might bring calamity-" Before the cat could even finish his words, I interrupted them. "Shut up." Calamity. It was one of the words that I hated, no, I loathed. I felt my whole body trembling and I could feel my face losing its color. I looked down and bit my lips. "Magu." The boy coldly called out to the cat. "What you said was not right. Apologize." "Naive Master, I didn't say anything wrong." The cat looked away. From the corner of my eyes, I could see its tail stiffening. "Magu." The boy frowned. Seeing that it was not willing to apologize, he decided to step forward. "Miss, sorry about the attitude of my pet. As for compensation... I'll make you happy for the rest of your life?" The boy said with a deadpan face. What he said... Why does it sound like a proposal? No, he doesn't seem sincere. "What? Bird-Brained Master, do you understand what that means?" The cat complained but it fell on deaf ears. The boy waited for my answer, but I still couldn't open my mouth. After a few minutes of awkward silence, the boy spoke again. "I am Claude Luxe von Franz, a prince from another world, single and looking for a bride. Miss, what's your name?" The boy smiled gently, different from the cold look I received last year. What made me speechless was his sudden introduction and the content of it. A what? A prince? From another world? Huh???? "Miss?" The boy waved his hands in front of me. "Uh, m-my n-name? It's Celestia Lemora." I couldn't help but stuttering because of my bewilderment. This... this is too much to take in. "Celestia, will you be my bride?" My throat felt dry and I couldn't utter any words. I… don't know what to say. This is a chance for me to get out of this world—if what he says about being a prince from another world is true. However, my future is blank. I can't predict the outcome if I ever decide to accept his proposal. What if I just made it worse? Happiness? Can he really fulfill his promise? "Celestia, do you like this world?" I looked down and answered in my mind. No. "I will be going back to my home. I wish to take you along as my bride. Of course, you may refuse. There's nothing I can do about that." "…Why me?" At last, I finally found my voice to speak. "Let's just say… it's love at first sight." Love at first sight? Does he remember me or is it just a lie? "Okay, hypothetically, I agree. What would your family think about this? And the cat did say I might bring calamity to your world. What would you do?" At my question he laughed and with confidence he spoke, "You don't have to worry about that. With me around, nobody would dare speak bad about you. Celestia, you won't bring calamity to my world." "How are you so sure?" "There's no way I would let that happen, unless you chose to do it. You are the bride that I chose, the person who will be with me for the rest of my life. Since you are the one I chose, I will make you happy. I promise." Basically, he is saying that as long as he was there, nothing bad would happen? I don't understand him. My reaction must have been obvious as he laughed awkwardly while scratching the back of his neck. "Sorry, I guess this is too sudden. I'll give you a day at most to think. I'll wait for you here tomorrow, same time."
