The Attack

1809 Words
Julia arrived at the Fairy Palace with a small bag in tow.  Her and Delilah’s guards had followed on horseback.  Her and Idean had had a pleasant conversation during their travels and their mating bond did not present itself to him or her.  Idean was sad, he had had hope that they could be together after their children had revealed themselves to them.  That was not the plan, not anymore.  Adden and Delilah met them at the door and Delilah was excited to see her Mother hugging her with her big belly in the way.  Adden outwardly loved her belly and always hugged her close to squish it between them.  “Mother, what a nice surprise!” Delilah said as she pulled back from the hug.  Curiously looking over at Idean with her plump lips curling up into a smile. Julia put Delilah’s arm into her arm and started walking away from everyone standing at the door “Let’s go to your room so I can learn my way around this Palace.” And Delilah led the way. Once in Delilah’s room Julia told her that she had somehow become mates with her Father and that the mate bond was gone between her and Idean.  Delilah was happy for her because her Father had always loved her, but she had always been slightly distant.  Never really touching him or smiling just for him.  Her and Adden were smiling and touching each other all the time.  It made her sad to think that her end time was coming near.  She would never regret it though.  Her child is going to change the worlds they live in for the better, how could she be so selfish to deny that.  Subconsciously she placed her hand on her belly and rubbed it. Adden stood there watching Delilah walking away with her mother and was about to start following them when his Father spoke. “Son, we need to go talk.  Let us go the garden where we can talk freely.” Idean said as he motioned him toward the garden.  “I had a talk with King Vlad, and it seems that they suspect Thomas may have built up allegiances with the Werewolves and Witch clans along the Norther Border.  I suspect that is where the attack will be coming from.  King Vlad and I have both sent spies to check it out.” Idean paused for a moment and then went on “You need to make it a priority to find the black unicorn.  He is a particularly important part of this plan.  I think with Julia here you could take some time to go out and look for him.” Hesitantly Adden agreed with his Father “I will take some pixies to help me look for him today.  I am going to go let Delilah know that I will be gone.”  With sun starting to set he did not have too much time. Adden took to the sky with 4 other pixies in search for the black unicorn.  There were lots of white, purple, pink and grey unicorns but only one black on.  He stopped and talked with a few unicorns and only one thought he was maybe a bit more south.  They continued and the sun began to set, Adden thought it was the best time to find him from what folk lore had written about him.  The black unicorn was spotted standing under a large oak tree resting his eyes.  Adden landed in front of him and woke him up.  The black unicorn was so beautiful, just pure black except for the light in his eyes.  He was the most powerful creature in the land, he could run faster than the fastest wind and he could make portals anywhere he wanted between any worlds he wanted.  It suddenly hit Adden that THAT is why his presence was required at his child’s birth, to get her to another world. Adden turned on his animal powers and slowly reached out to the black unicorn and laid his hand on his cheek and the unicorn bent his head down and they came forehead to forehead.  Their minds linked and they were able to speak and understand each other. “Your Majesty of the Unicorns, I need you to save my daughter and help bring her to a safe world where she can grow up.  She will return to this world and take her place as Queen of the Realm.  Her kindness and beauty will be unchallengable.  Will you help us?” Adden spoke into the mindlink. “Prince Adden, I have been requested by the Moon Goddess herself to assist with the princesses escape and ultimately get the child to safety.  I will offer all my protections and services to this matter with a full heart.” The Unicorn paused and noted that the sun had set, and darkness was taking over the land. “The princess will need me soon.  I will not fail in my efforts.” And the mindlink was shut off and the unicorn turned to run north. Adden stood there and processed what was just said and it suddenly dawned on him that the Palace is under attack.  Then he heard the attack horn blow, he had to go help Delilah, how far was he even from her?  He could not spread his wings and he realized that he was frozen in place.  Panic engrossed him as he tried in vain to free himself. “Prince Adden, don’t struggle so hard.  You are going to hurt yourself.” Marta stepped from behind the tree. “I said I had to protect you as well as the child.  We are on the most southern edge of our realm where you will stay until your daughter returns.”  Marta pulled out a satchel from her white full-length coat and poured the powder in her hands. “This will put you to sleep and only a hand that carries the blood of your blood will be able to open your encasement and wake you up. You would not survive losing your mate.  Your heart would stop beating with hers and this cannot happen.  I am sorry I had to trick you but there was no other way, the bond you and Delilah have is too strong and you would not be able to abandon her in her time of need.” With that said she blew the powder into Adden’s face and he went to sleep.  The pixies made a bed and encased him with magic and there he will stay until his daughter finds him or forever which comes first. Back at the Palace Thomas had watched Julia go to the Fairy Palace.  He knew that Vlad would have sent the best of his guards with his mate to protect her and their daughter. He decided to go back to the Vampire Palace as if nothing was being planned. Once he landed on the front doorstep the guards rang the bell and stood in defense mode against him.  Thomas laughed “What is this all about?” Acting like he was innocent. “The King gave us instructions to bring straight to him upon your return” The head guard stated.  “Well, that work out perfectly because that is exactly who I came here to see.” Thomas waved them to guide him and they did. As everyone entered the great room that Vlad was in, the air was thick with unease. Vlad spoke first “I have been hearing things about you that I don’t like to hear Thomas.”  Vlad looked at Thomas with his piercing blue eyes. “Well, I don’t know what you are hearing but it’s all true Big Brother.” And he took the guards and killed them with his bare hands by breaking their necks. “That was a quick death, you, you will not be so lucky Big Brother.” And he walked toward Vlad.  Vlad walked toward him and threw the first punch.  Vlad may not be able to fly but he was incredibly strong and a skilled fighter.  Both men punched each other, tossed each other, and trying to kill each other the only way Vampires die, by beheading them. The fight lasted for some time and then suddenly Thomas got the upper hand with Vlad laying face down on the floor.  Thomas put his knee in his back and pulled his head up with his hair.  The horn at the Fairy Palace blew and they both knew that the palace was under attack.  Vlad tried to do a push up to get Thomas off his back, but Thomas wasted no time grabbing his chin and the back of his head and twisted, pulling Vlad’s head from his body.  He stood there looking at his brothers’ headless body holding his head in his hand.  The Fairy horn blew again, and Thomas looked out the window toward that direction spread his wings and took flight, bringing his brothers head with him. The Werewolves had breached the Palace and the fight was fierce between the Werewolves and the Fairies.  The witches were trying to cast spells and the pixies were undoing them making the witches useless to Thomas.  The hand-to-hand combat was brutal, that even though the Werewolves were usually bigger the fairies were tough and were protecting each other as a team.  This gave time for Delilah to go out the southern door to escape.  Julia sent her out, Delilah didn’t want to go, she wanted to see Adden one more time. “Delilah Rose, you must run now and save this baby.  That needs to be your only thought, your only goal.  Now GO!” Julia said in her best mean Mother voice ever and did not waiver with the stare down. “I will go now.  I love you, I love everyone.” Delilah said as he ran out the door her belly heavy she reached down to hold it while she was running.  The dark night was going to be good for the escape, she could see well in the dark. Julia went back to her daughter’s room knowing that whoever was coming for her was going to go there first.  Once there she quickly changed into one of her daughters’ gowns and stuffed a pillow to make herself look pregnant.  She put her silver lined knife in her sleeve, and she waited.  She could not think of her daughter, of her mate or the rest of her family.  She took a deep breath and told herself to relax.  Then she heard the door open.
