The private dining room was thick with the scent of expensive perfume and forced pleasantries. Anna was leaning in, trying to catch Alexander’s eye, but he was staring at his phone, his face a mask of indifference.
Henry leaned down, his voice a mere ghost of a sound near Alexander’s ear.
"Sir, the target has arrived. Kelvin and his group are being seated at table four."Henry whispered.
Alexander didn't look up. He didn't blink. He simply typed a single command into his phone and slid it back into his pocket. His eyes flicked to Mira, who was currently taking a sip of her red wine, oblivious to the drama unfolding in the main hall.
"Henry," Alexander murmured,
his voice cold and precise.
"A minor accident. Ensure she has to leave the table."
Henry didn't hesitate. He walked past the table, his movements practised and fluid. As he passed Mira, his shoulder subtly brushed the waiter carrying a tray of wine. The tray wobbled, and a splash of deep crimson liquid landed directly on Mira’s silk dress.
"Oh! I am so sorry, Miss Mira!"
Henry exclaimed, his tone perfectly apologetic." Henry said.
"My dress!"Mira gasped, jumping up as the red stain spread across the fabric.
"it's okay.
"Mira, go to the ladies' room immediately,"
Emily said, rising to help her.
"There’s a cleaning kit in the manager’s office.
Henry, show her the way."Emily said.
"Right away, Madam,"
Henry said, bowing slightly.
Alexander watched, his expression unreadable as Mira hurried out of the private room, looking flustered and annoyed. He knew exactly what route she would take—past the main dining floor, past table four.
Perfect.
Mira hurried down the hallway, her dress stained, her mind focused on her ruined clothes. She turned the corner into the main restaurant floor, her eyes scanning for a restroom.
Then, she stopped dead.
She saw him. Kelvin, laughing with his friends, leaning in close to Becky—who was currently touching his arm in a way that had nothing to do with friendship.
Mira’s hand flew to her mouth. She didn't move. She watched, her phone already in her hand, as Becky whispered something into Kelvin’s ear that made him chuckle and squeeze her hand. It wasn't a "friend" gesture. It was intimate. It was an anniversary betrayal in plain sight.
Back in the private room, Alexander took a slow sip of his own wine. He watched the security monitor on his phone—a small, hidden window. He saw Mira stop. He saw the realization hit her face. He saw her pull out her phone and start recording.
A faint, predatory smile touched Alexander's lips.
"Is something the matter, Alex?"
"Anna asked, trying to get his attention.
"You look like you're enjoying yourself all of a sudden."
Alexander looked at her, his eyes dark and empty.
"I am merely appreciating the view,
" He replied.
He glanced back at the phone. He didn't care about the merger, or his father’s dinner, or Anna’s desperate attempts to be his wife.
