CLARA’S POV
“What are you scared about this time around?” Ruby asked by the time we were both dressed.
“Nothing,” I replied, “just the anxiety of going out again. Feels like centuries since we last went out together. Plus, I am leaving Nico behind.”
“Leaving him in the safest possible hands, don’t forget that.”
I nodded, “Well, you’re right.”
“I still see hesitation in your eyes,” she said as we got to the door, “It’s Maxwell then. I will ask Kevin for a favor when we go down.”
I eyed her, “You’re asking him for favors now, eh? That close, I see.”
“Don’t tease me,” she said sternly, but I saw a smile tugging slightly at her cheeks, “he said I could bring any issue I had to him and right now, I have now,” she said, sizing me up with her eyes.
