DOMINIC’S POV
I suddenly threw my eyes open as I heard the knob of the front door turn. Clara and Ruby walked into the room, their eyes gleaming with surprise as they stared at the three of us. Nico was laying flat on me, sleeping peacefully. I tried to recall how we had all ended up in this position. Kevin was laying on another couch, pieces of a chess game sprawled on the carpet beneath him.
Clara’s eyes widened with surprise while Ruby immediately covered her smile with a palm. It suddenly came to me. Kevin had been teaching Nico how to play a board game. Nico hated Sudoku, didn’t just have a thing for it, but he loved learning how to play chess and Kevin had even allowed Nico beat him once.
