Maxwell's POV
I stared out my window, my physical presence in the room yet my mind seemed to have wandered miles away. My thoughts were preoccupied with one person, just as they've always been.
Clara was like an obsession I couldn't get over no matter how hard I tried. I wanted her to be happy, I wanted to be the source of her smile and most importantly, I wanted her to see me.
We've been together for a while now, but I felt her heart was not completely opened to me. At first, I believed she was simply naturally closed off, but now, my dispositions have changed.
What if Clara was only closed off because her heart was open to another? I didn't mind her history, but it was different when it involved Dominic. That asshole just had to have a hand in causing Clara pain.
