Clara's POV
"Your son is fine. I made sure of it", Dominic reassured me, nodding when my shoulders sagged in relief.
"Now. Sit still. Let me call the doctor to examine you", he instructed sternly before rushing off.
My entire body felt weak. Every slight movement caused a fresh bout of protests from my muscles and although the pain seemed to only worsen, my heart was relieved.
"Here", Dominic stepped in with a doctor who looked a bit too young. He had an almost boyish expression, raising a brow when our eyes met.
"Miss Valmont. You did a great job", he commended. "Now, if it'll be fine with you, I need to examine you, check your vitals."
I nodded, just slightly and he grabbed the opportunity, swinging out his stethoscope from underneath his coat.
