Wolf Awaken

Chapter Two - Wolf Awaken Kaida's POV I slowly flutter my eyes open, and my blurry vision comes in contact with a familiar pair of blue eyes. "You are awake," Elara points out. Elara is the nurse of our hunting committee and also Kaid's betrothed. She helps me sit up gently and assists me in resting my back against the wall. "What happened?" My hands reached for my neck and, all of a sudden, I felt a stinging pain from touching my neck. All my memories flood back into my head. From the battle between my people and the Silver System werewolves, to Kaid challenging me to kill the Alpha. That's right! The Alpha! His emerald green eyes flash in my memory, causing me to remember how I got so lost in his eyes. What did he do? How is that even possible? Is it some kind of superpower that Alphas have? "Are you okay?" Elara asks. Speaking of okay, what about Kaid? My eyes widen in horror and I attempt to jerk off the bed, but Elara pins me back. "Calm down, Kaid is fine. "I have already treated his wounds. "He is in the chamber room having a discussion with some of our other warriors that survived the attack," Elara explains. My goodness, we must have lost a lot of people during the battle last night. I barely made it out alive. "I need to see him," I say, but Elara shakes her head in disagreement. "What you need to do is rest, and Kaid is not exactly in a good mood right now. "I mean, I know you guys lost the battle even after he invested so much time and effort in it, but something feels off." Elara says. "What do you mean by off?" I ask, my tone laced with worry. Elara sighs heavily. "I think his anger might be directed at you. Did you perhaps do something wrong to annoy him? "I mean I know Kaid can be uptight sometimes, but his anger seems justifiable," Elara says. I waved it off. I want to hear from Kaid. I need to explain to him that the Alpha did something to me. I can not explain what exactly he did to me, but I know that it was out of the ordinary. I rise to my feet and begin to walk away, but Elara suddenly calls out my name, causing me to halt in my steps. I gaze at her with a raised brow. "I am a little concerned though. The mark on your neck does not seem to be healing. Don't tell me you got bitten by a werewolf?" Elara asks. I shook my head in disagreement and choked out a hysterical laughter. "Cut the crap Elara, if this was a wolf bite then I would have transformed into a wolf by now," I said. I walked out of the room, trying so hard to ignore the stinging pain coming from my neck. As I drew closer to the chamber room, I heard Kaid's loud voice echoing in anger. I gulp a lump down my throat and immediately I step foot inside, everyone becomes quiet, and they all stare at me. I bow my head low in shame and apologize. "I am sorry." "HOW COULD YOU CHICK OUT KAIDA? WE HAD A f*****g DEAL!" Kaid yelled at me, slamming the wall. The loud thud noise causes me to stagger backward in fear. I bite my lower lip to hold back the tears that threaten to fall from my eyes. "I am sorry Kaid, but I swear I can explain," I say with pleading eyes. Surprisingly for me, Kaid scoffs and chokes out hysterical laughter. Everybody in the room takes it as a hint to excuse us. "What excuse do you have? How can you explain the pathetic sympathy you have towards those stupid werewolves? Kaida, they killed our parents for crying out loud." Kaid snaps at me. He begins to pace the room and I know he is holding himself back from saying worse. "I am sorry, but I swear this has nothing to do with sympathy. That Alpha, he did something to me. I got lost in his eyes. Kaid, I swear you have to believe me. "Alpha Dominic has got some tricks under his sleeve," I say. Kaid rolls his eyes at me. "Cut the crap Kaida! Due to your carelessness, lives were lost. "I barely made it out of there alive." He began to walk towards the entrance, but I call out his name in haste. I am too afraid to lose him right now. "Give me a chance. Tonight, I will prove myself. "I will bring you the head of Alpha Dominic," I say confidently. To my uttermost surprise, Kaid laughs bitterly and shakes his head at me. "Tonight is a full moon Kaida, try not to do anything stupid so you do not put the rest of us in danger." With that, Kaid walks out of the room. I slump to the floor in defeat and allow the tears to roll down my cheeks. I spend hours crying until nightfall, when I make the boldest decision of my life by choosing to attack Alpha Dominic. With my bow and arrow clutched tight to my hands, I made my way into the dark forest. I almost drove to the Silver System Pack house when suddenly I felt something engulf me. I snap my eyes up, and they come in contact with the full moon. The next thing I hear is a loud howl coming from the left, accompanied by a deep hoarse voice that says, "Come, come to me." The last thing I remember is my fingers turning into claws right before I embrace the darkness, succumbing to the alluring masculine voice.
