Chap 1 - Mr. Arrogant
3RD PERSON POV             “Thank you all for your interest in this project. We have opened the floor for proposals from different companies. I hope you will take into consideration all aspects to fulfil the requirements and needs of this project. My project head will continue to take your questions. Thank you.” Mr. Keats said sternly and walked off the stage with confident strides and a crisp tug on the sleeve of his expensive suit.                          He swiftly made his way out of the conference room heading to his office. He is a man of his word and a strict businessman. He has never fell prey for bad publicities. He stopped believing in love at a very young age. He worked hard in building an empire off his father’s businesses earning him the title of ‘Top 10 Youngest Billionaire’ at the age of 23.                He threw open his door rather roughly and made his ways into his office. A very spacious and cold environment greets him. A long couch to the left of his office entrance and a lavish drink cabinet to the right. A majestic black polished table sits at the back end of his office close to the glass wall and two comfortable guest chairs in front of his table. His office room only consist of plain white walls and black furniture, matching perfectly with his strong, cold and masculine demeanour.               He shrugs off his jacket and tosses it carelessly to the couch and grabbed himself a glass of whiskey and made his way to his chair. He swirls his chair around and leans on the back rest, crossing his left ankle over his right knees. He takes a swig of his drink and looks out the wall window behind him, giving him the best bird’s-eye view of the city. One that he always believes provides him with peace of mind, helps him envision the future and keep in check his perspective of the world around him.               He throws back the balance on his drink downing it in a gulp, then rests his now empty glass over his left knee. Letting out a deep sigh, he stares into the view in front of him as he thinks to himself massaging his chest where his heart lies, “everything in life, but nothing to fill the void in my heart.”.    EKON POV   Ring… Ring…               The sound of a phone ringing interrupts my train of thoughts. Retrieving my phone from my pocket, I answered still looking at the view in front of me.               “Keats” I answered rather sternly. A strong and commanding voice stopped all my thoughts. “Do not take that tone with me young man”, it was my father. “Dad” I sighed. “Ee, my son, I know I have taught you better than this. Your attitude is not going to take you far Mr. Arrogant.” he said with annoyance. I blew a frustrated breath and my dad seemed to have caught on to it. “What is wrong Ee? Was there a problem during the meeting? Is there something I can help with?” dad asked with concern.                A lazy smile made its way to the corner of my lip one that I never show. My dad is always ready to swoop in and help me but.. “No dad. This is… I’m fine. The meeting was fine and there is no need of your assistance.” I said. ‘It’s just something that you can’t help me with dad.’ I say to myself.                Recognising my hesitance, he said, “Whatever this is, you will figure it out. You always do. Remember, one step at a time son.” He said. Deviating from the topic so he does not prolong this conversation, “Any reason for this call dad?” I ask. “Can’t an old man call his son without a reason?” he asks trying to sound offended.                “Dad, I think we both know you are not a person who calls for a chit chat” I say casually. “You’re right. I just call to give you a heads up. Your mom is on her way to see you.” He said with a glee in his voice. I rolled my eyes and asked him what was it about this time and he answered me with one word that sums up the tragic of my life. “Rebecca.” he says.                I pinch the bridge of my nose and let out a frustrated grunt. “Listen son, I know you won’t agree with the conversation, but please keep yourself level-headed for me. She is after all your mother, alright? Now take care. Bye,” and he hung up. ‘Thanks, dad. Just what I needed’.
