Chap 5 – Lost Angel

1200 Words
EKON POV       I excused myself from both my friends and fast walked out of our private booth. I could hear the drifting voices of Owen and Mike calling my name over the loud music as I hasten my pace making my way to the steps and down to the dance floor below while still trying to catch a glimpse of her. The need to know who she is boosts my speed. I bumped into some w***e calling out to me. Ignoring her as my only mission at the moment was to seek her Weaving through the mass of sweating body, breaking up random people making out in the middle of the dance floor and occasionally bumping into the crowd of people dancing and grinding against each other, I finally make my way across the dance floor towards the stage.        I shout over the music trying to catch the attention of the DJ. Recognizing me as a prominent figure and a regular here, the DJ looks over his console to check his playlist then jumps off his platform landing directly in front of me. “Will the singer be singing again after this?” I ask trying to sound indifferent instead of desperate. “No Mr. Keats. She is off for tonight. She heads out immediately after she finishes her slot. She is goo…” he goes to say but I cut him off by patting his shoulders as I quickly make my way to the back-exit shoving people out of my way hoping she is still around. Ignoring all the flirtatious calls and touches made at me, I finally reach the back exit. Throwing open the door, I step out the back alley frantically looking left and right for her. Not seeing her around, I fast jogged to the parking lot still with a small hope of finding her. All I see are cars moving in and out of the lot and no dark hair in black.       I don’t even know what am I think about. I don’t even know how she looks at all. The glimpses of her was not enough to identify her. I quickly look around this time only trying to see if I could identify someone with a black dress shirt and boots on a petite figure. I ran my eyes across the parking lot and around me only to be disappointed.       I run both my hands back and forth through my hair with frustration. I tilt my head up to the night sky taking deep breaths soothing my rapid heart and will away the void that seems more protruding now then ever. Closing my eyes for a few seconds feeling the cool air around me before I froze in my spot. I flip open my eyes when realization hits me hard. I have never acted on impulse. I have always practice extreme self-control and move with precise calculation. I have never chased anything in my life leave alone a woman. But now… Now it is different. Now I am running behind a woman just to get a glimpse of her? “preposterous.” I mumble to myself. Why? Right. The void. There seems to be something that she might be able to help me with. “Her music probably” I reasoned with my inner self.        I walked back to the alley and knock on the back door. The bouncers open the peep hole and opens the door once they recognize me. I walk a few steps into the club before a thought crossed my mind. I turned and greeted them with a nod. “Hey Kyle. Any idea who that singer may be?” I ask one of the bouncers. “Sorry Sir. I’m not sure. She’s new though she doesn’t talk much. You can ask boss he might know.” he said. I nod to him and make my way back to the booth. What greets me at the booth annoys me further.       “Hey baby.” she purrs. I’m assuming seductively. I scrunch my nose looking away then back at her. I raise and drop my brow in acknowledgment to her presence. I look around and realise that Owen and Mike are nowhere to be found. They might have shifted their party to Mike’s office the second they saw her here. She comes around and drapes herself around my body. Her perfectly manicured fingernails run through my hair and I pull away. She looks at me with a slight glare and confusion which I studiously ignore. She quickly composes herself and pops open the top button of my shirt.        “Who was that?” she asks as she seductively push her breast onto my arms. “Who was who?” I ask. “The one you were running after. You even bumped into me and ignore my calls back there” she says. So, she witnessed my whole fiasco running around the club for the girl. I pulled myself away from her discreetly not wanting to hurt her feelings. She is my ‘friend’ after all. I study her from head to toe and back to her face. Looking at her dressed in her skimpy red outfit. Her attire showing so much skin that It leaves nothing to the imagination. Not that it affects me in any romantic me. It just makes me feel right when I judged her in a split second while bumping into her. I mumbled to myself, “whore.” “Excuse me?” she yells over the music.        “I have no time for this” I tell her and walk away to meet up with the guys. She grips my elbow with her long scrawny fingers and pulls me to a stop. I didn’t bother to turn and look at her as I wait for her to add to the anger and frustration that has been raging since my mother visited at the office. The second my eyes landed on her minutes back only caused the rage to blow into disproportion within me. “If it is a b***h that you are running after. Forget it.” She sneers. The rage in me jumped to new heights unknowingly as she referred to the singer foully.  “You are mine and I don’t like to share. Also, I spoke to your mom. She wants us to marry. So, no cheating.” she says slyly. “Time to get on one knee and slip a diamond ring on this finger” she says with attitude while wriggling her ring finger in my face.    That does it.       I schooled my expression and composed myself and pulled my elbow away from her fingers before turning to face her. I tied my hands behind my back with my right in a fist controlling my anger. I narrowed my eyes at her and took one step closer to her. She instinctively cowered back seeing that I was steel cold in front of her. I held my face close to her and spoke in an icy voice. “I have never given you or anyone the rights to question or order me around. You do not and will never own me Bec. As for marriage, NEVER. I, Ekon Valerio Keats will never fall on my knees for you or any other” I maliciously smiled at her. “Speaking about cheating…” I stood up and straighten my posture “funny you would say that.” I finished walking away leaving her gaping.
