Chap 18 – Chased by My Shadow

LUNA POV

    It’s been a few days since Ekon has come around. I have been surprised by my own thoughts and actions. I have been thinking about him a lot more than I have anyone. Memories and pictures of him have affected both my mind and heart. It never missed an opportunity to think of him and when it does my heart skips a beat at the mere thought of him.

    I find myself taking extra effort in presenting myself well. I have walked to the dock every night. However, this past few days has been different. I walked down not for me, but for him. I remember the way his jacket adorned my shoulders. His musky smell represents him well. It was comforting and his gesture warm my heart.

    I would lie to myself if you said that someone has warmed my heart and made it to my mind before. Just thought of his soft kiss to my forehead makes me smile. I know it is weird to have someone kiss you goodbye at the first meet but with him it feels normal. As if we have been doing this before.

    ‘OMG!!! He just slips to every single c***k in my mind and make his way to my heart every single second and I can’t stop smiling. I must be crazy’

    I make my way to the dock with all my necessities. Anticipating. Just to see him once more.

    The picture of him is just perfect. The way he carries himself with confidence. It suits him. He spoke with sincerity and straight to point which is refreshing. His laughter sounds rich and magnificent that it fills my heart with butterflies. But, something about it feels that he doesn’t do it enough. His smile soft and tender, reminds me of the evening breeze.

    A shiver runs down my spine when I remember the way he called me Luna. A name that no one has ever used before. I can’t stop remembering the way he looks at me. His blue eyes filled with so much adoration for me. 

    ‘ Me? No. this can’t be happening. This isn’t right. This is unfair to him. He shouldn’t be getting close to me. It will only end up hurting both of us. I should not be feeling whatever this is. My time is running out. When he finds out about my condition his eyes will no longer fill with adore. It will only be filled with sadness and sympathy. The, only loneliness will be my company…’

    My heads spinning. I feel the ground under me move. I tried to hold on to whatever is nearby. A stump. Holding on to it, I try to stabilize myself. Breathing calmly as I have been previously thought. My heart is ready to jump off my chest and it hearts to breathe. I slid myself down along the stump and rummage through my pouch for my medicine with shaky hands. I’m losing grip and consciousness faster than before.

    Amidst the panic, my vision catches a glimpse of Leo beside me. I know he was trying to calm me down but thoughts of Ekon fills my mind causing the panic to raise. Leo pushes me to lay down on my back. Leo couches low near me and nuzzles my neck repeatedly trying to keep me awake.

    All of the sudden I felt cold where Leo was previously at. I could hear him barking. I was slipping away when I heard some calling out to me from a distance followed by heavy footsteps.
