Chap 20 – Funny Breakfast with Ekon

705 Words
LUNA POV       I woke up to the sun blazing through the window. Looking at my bedside table, the clock read half past ten. I stretch and get out of the bed and halt with a frown. Leo did not greet me this morning. Weird.       I walked of my room and towards the stairs when the smell of pancakes or waffles wafts through the air. I can’t never tell the different though.   ‘OMG is there a thief in my house? Wait… why would a thief cook in my kitchen?’       Grabbing my dad’s baseball bat, I tip toe down the stairs. I halt at the end of the stairs when I hear a man’s voice.    ‘Ekon? Who are you talking to?’   I try listening to his conversation. I’m not eavesdropping. I’m just being caution. Right caution.   “Hey man, do you she will like my pancake?” he asks.   “Bark,” Leo?   “Well, I suppose this will have to do. All she has organic in her pantry,” he says.   “Bark, bark” I frown.   “I thought so too,” he decides. I chuckle at their weird conversation.   I back track my steps when a question pops into my head. ‘Why is Ekon in my house preparing breakfast for me?’       I sat on my stairs think what led to him being in my house. I don’t remember inviting him home. I drop my head into my hands propped on my knees. Memories of yesterday start flooding when my latest panic attack came to thought. So, it was Ekon who called out to me yesterday.   ‘How much does he know now? How do I handle this now?’        Taking a deep breath, I decide to play it cool and handle the situation when I cross the bridge. I walk into the kitchen but stop short when I see Ekon dressed in casuals. I mean he looks extremely handsome in formals but, he looks super ‘Hot’ with a capital H.   Dressed in a stone washed blue jeans hanging loosely on his hip and a royal blue polo t-shirt. ‘OMG’.   “You do know it isn’t polite to stare?” he startles me with his question.   “I wasn’t staring,” I mumble but he heard.   “It’s ok take your time and stare. I’ll walk the ramp for you if you want,” he says with a smirk.       Aargh… men and their smirks… “You wouldn’t qualify to walk the ramp Ekon” I say nonchalantly and he laughs to it.   “Anyway, good morning. Have a seat. Breakfast is served” he says professionally.   “Good morning. I never knew I hired a house chef,” I say and his smirk was just plastered on his face again. “Anyway, who were you talking to?” I ask when he placed my plate in front of me.       He eyed and tilt his head towards Leo to answer my question. I looked at Leo trying to control the laughter threatening to burst out. I covered my mouth with my palm trying to keep in. “Were you talking to the dog?” I blurt out.       “Hey” “Bark” they respond immediately and I couldn’t keep in any longer and I burst out laughing. I held my stomach with one hand while the other grasp the kitchen island trying not to fall from the high chair. My eye teared as I laugh too much.        Ekon watch me with amusement dancing in his beautiful blue eyes. I laughed heartily till I started wheezing and coughing and both Leo and Ekon were by my side in a heartbeat. I accepted the glass of water Ekon handed me as he soothingly caresses my spine offering me comfort.        I looked up at his now worried face and I immediately pulled away then thanked him. His eyes suddenly turned sad and my heart fell at the sight off him but I could not lead him on. He withdrew his hand and made his way to his chair across from me with a smile. I felt disappointed to see that his smile did not reach his eyes and it is all because of me. I looked down at my plate and ate my food in silent.       We made our way to couch after breakfast and Leo sat with Ekon on the love seat instead of with me. ‘Wow’. Note the sarcasm.   “What happened last night?” he asks breaking the silence.   “What do you know?” I ask instead of answering him. I need to know how much he knows before I blurt out the truth.
