Chapter 13: Dumbest Man

2274 Words
August's heart beat skyrocketed drastically to the point that he thought it was about to explode with every agonizing seconds. Why are you doing this to me? If you know me just say it already..... He screamed at the lady that was torturing him with her look. "Oh don't mind me, it's not possible" Melissa laughed while waving her hand in the air in a dramatic way. She'd weighed the two in her mind and come to realize that it's actually an absurd thing to compare those two. Although this person possessed a striking resemblance with the person she'd in mind but it was too impossible for them to be the same person. But why do they share the same name? It was really baffling! However, she decided to give up on her baseless guess. After all this one and that one's character are different. One is rumoured to be intelligent, cold, powerful and also brutal in nature; one of the numerous reasons she doesn't want to associate with him. While this very one before her was the opposite; childish, petty and.....that one would be discovered later. August was finally relieved upon hearing the lady's words. She doesn't know..... he sighed in silent glee. He felt like bowing his head seven times in appreciation to whatever God up there that had heard his silent pleas and decided to intervene by helping him. Encountering problems that could send him back to that castle at this initial stage wasn't a good and pleasant thing at all. "Tell me, what made a big and sexy guy like you to also runaway from home?" August blushed immediately he heard this from Melissa. Such a beautiful lady with sweet mouth. "Oh my, you're also blushing?" Melissa teased. " I'm not" August grumbled as he tried to hide his red cheeks but his crimson ears gave him away. "But you're" Melissa persisted with a grin. " Stop teasing me" August warned seriously upon realizing that she was doing it on purpose. "Oh, I will stop. Just that you're cute" Melissa decided to back off but her words said otherwise. August sent the lady a death glare that sent shivers down her spine. And for once, she thought the man before her perfectly fit the description of the other one in her memory. "Have you looked at yourself in the mirror? You look so strong and powerful but yet you have no strength to withstand a common push from me" Melissa couldn't help but to explain her observations with a shrug. She didn't mean to be rude but she couldn't help but remember the incident that had occurred earlier between them. She'd pushed the man with the hope to see him withstand the impact but to her surprise, he was so weak and almost fell despite his muscular body. August looked at his body and realized that all what she'd said was nothing short of truth. He has shamed his original body owner and only hope that he would forgive him wherever he's. But he's a man no matter what and would never allow a lady to challenge him so blatantly. "You should be happy that I'm not a bad guy. You can't just go around pushing unknown guys that way. What if I'd retaliated?" His pride as a man was at stake. So August defended shamelessly. However, her next words scared the s**t out of him. "I was actually hoping for that, you know" Melissa smirked. "How about we go somewhere and duel briefly" She proposed excited. " Huh?" August widened his eyes in horror. "I know that you must be stronger than me and only allowed me to be, because I didn't pose any form of threat or harm to you. And besides, I'm really excited to see your type of power" Melissa happily explained. Of course I'm curious as well but I unfortunately don't have any, August swallowed hard. "Are you sure of this?" He asked. "Yes, yes...." Melissa nodded her head in response before calling attention of the waiter that'd served them. August on the hand was rendered speechless. "What are you still waiting for? Get up and let's go. I have settled our bill" Melissa's voice sent the man out of his reverie. "Calm down and have a seat first" August's finally let some words out of his mouth. Her words had frightened him so bad as his body felt a great fear engulf it immensely. Just one push from this lady was enough to confirm how strong she was as it almost sent him to the floor. Moreover, people from this place had a special ability which he doesn't have apparently. So how was he going to defend himself? Because defeating her would like dying a second time. He couldn't just stand still and watch her punch him like a punching bag or use her powers on him. Never! So the best thing to do was to convince her out of this death wish which she was unknowingly wishing for him. Although I'm curious to know the type of power she posses.....still I don't have to get myself killed because of it, August thought. "We just finished eating right now and it's not advisable to engage in a fight to avoid complications. How about we duel another day?" August persuaded the ready to fight lady that was obviously happy to fight him. "Why not, we can still fight" The lady insisted. "I don't fight after eating" August lied. After giving it a second thought, he added with a wink. "I prefer having fun instead" Melissa blushed for the first time which gladdened August's heart. Of course I have a killer body now and can pull off anything, August patted his chest mentally. "Tell me" Melissa decided to change the topic since it was obvious that August doesn't want to duel with her. It was no point persuading the man any further. "No, you tell me first" August returned. "Tell you what?" Melissa questioned with her eyebrows raised in confusion. "According to your question, you also ran away from home. So why?" August asked. "You're such a weirdo" Melissa rolled her eyes but still answered straight forwardly. "I ran away because I don't want to marry the Prince. What about you?" "You mean the Prince of this Kingdom?" August couldn't believe what he just heard so he asked to confirm. "Yes of course, is there two Prince's in this kingdom?" Melissa sneered while she looked at August as though she was looking at a fool. Clearly not bothered by the scornful gaze from the lady, August's mind wondered about other things. He swallowed hard as he discreetly watched the lady before him. Does it mean that she's never seen this face before, August pondered while he looked at the lady closely; beautiful face, white and glowing skin like a baby's, green eyes that accentuated her green hair perfectly and of course, a set of thin lips that any man would kill to have a taste of it. She was truly the definition of beauty and the kind of woman that befits the prince of a kingdom. What a pity! The prince surely missed a lot by dying so early. "Hey, hey, heyyyyyyyyyy!!! A shout from the impatient lady sent August out of his head. "What are you spacing out about? Won't you answer my question?" Melissa was a obviously angry and so she complained. "It's not fair at all. I answered your question outrightly but you still don't want to answer mine?" "I'm sorry" August apologised. "Uhm... I ran away just like you guessed because I'm being confused as someone else" August explained awkwardly. "That's bad and definitely better than my own reason" Melissa shrugged. "Is the person your brother or just related to you?" "Not at all. They're just having problem differentiating the two of us. I really don't want to live an imposter life" August said with a serious and believable voice. He hoped the lady would believe her slightly lie words. He forgot that she's bound to find out sooner or later. "That makes us even then" Melissa declared in a cheerful voice. "Why don't you want to marry the prince? Isn't it an opportunity that every lady wants to grab?" August thought for a while before asking this question. "Well not for me" Melissa shrugged. "Why?" August persisted. "I still have a long way to go and I don't want to tie yet to a prince that might die in a war tomorrow leaving me an unhappy window" Melissa explained. August nodded with an 'O' as he silently cringed at her last words. He really didn't know anything about this kingdom. Well thank God that he somehow managed to run away. I'm intelligent indeed! So August thought. But in a certain lady's heart, he was the most dumbest person that she'd ever met. It's one of the reasons she doesn't suspect him as the prince of the kingdom. Unaware of the displeasure in August's expression, Melissa continued. "If the Prince of the kingdom dies in a war, nobody will marry his Princess. She will remain single for the rest of her life. So I'm not ready to live my bouncing life that way. It's a no for me" "Has there been any case where the prince died in a war?" August asked ignorantly. "You're asking questions as if you're not from this kingdom" Melissa scolded with a scoffed but still went ahead to answer the oblivous man's question. Maybe he really doesn't know since he's not close to palace like she was..... Melissa thought. "Of course, there's been many occasions. That's why the prince is always forced to give birth or pregnant her princess before any war occurs" "Can't the prince be exempted from wars?" August couldn't help but to ask even though the lady was now fuming in anger. "Stupid question again" Melissa scolded once more feeling irritated by the man's stream of nonsense enquires. This time she didn't want to answer but the expectation that could be seen on August's face won her over. "No" She mumbled indignantly. "Then don't marry him" August advised. He has forgotten that he was the so called prince that might die in a war. "I can't believe that I'm having this type of conversation with an ignorant man like you. Or are you pretending to not know anything?" Melissa glared at August. "What did I say that's wrong" August couldn't understand. "Are you seriously telling me that you don't know that it's only one lineage that produces the Princess?" Melissa seethed. August surely didn't understand anything. In fact he was even more confused and lost. What exactly was she insinuating? And why was she madly angry at him? Indeed he's a dumb man for forgetting where he was and why they were having that conversation in the first place. What should I say to her that won't add more fire to her anger? "Then have fun as much as you can before marrying the prince?" August tried to soothe. And to his surprise, it did the wonder. "Of course, that's why I'm out here". Melissa finally smiled causing August to relax his unsettled mind. According to the little he understood about this strange world, everybody was born with ability. So as a fake prince with no power or whatsoever, it's wise that he resist from angering people here anyhow. "I'm also out here to live my life and have fun" August added. "Nice meeting you partner" Melissa giggled as she stretched her hand for a hand shake. "How about we go somewhere and have some deserved fun?" August suddenly flirted with a wink. As if that wasn't enough, he squeezed the lady's hand tenderly. Melissa's face turned red immediately as expected but her next words almost threw August off the window. "I have had enough of boys darling and I'm switching to girls.for.now" She retaliated before snatching her hand from August's grip. After saying this, Melissa got up as she made her way toward the door while August remained seated on his sit with mouth wide open. She's such a straight forward lady that doesn't know how to mince words. "Aren't you coming?" Melissa called out from the door causing August to forcefully close his mouth and rush after her. "There's a club called 'downtown'. Let's go there and see what's happening" Melissa suggested. Of course August doesn't have any suggestion, so he agreed. Having a native of the land by his side to guide him through was truly beneficial to him. The two got outside and the smile on August's face was immeasurable when he caught the sight of his awaiting power bike. "Oh my....this is Raven 000012 model. This is expensive how did it get to your hand? Only the Prince's store have it" Melissa squealed in bewilderment. That explains why it's so expensive.... August rolled his eyes. "I bought it. I didn't steal it" August said sarcastically. "I have my bike, what are you going with?" August asked as he hopped onto his power bike. "Yes I know. We're going with it and I'm doing the driving" Melissa declared as she stopped August from mounting the bike. She got on first and patted her pillion seat. "Hey, that's my bike and I have just one helmet" August complained. "Take the helmet and hold on tight" Melissa instructed as she handed the only helmet to August. Left with no choice at all, August wore the helmet and climbed on the pillion. Then, the two drove off towards an unforseen and inevitable danger.
