Chapter 12: Melissa

1851 Words
Canon who wanted to wait for his Boss at the door got carried away by the beauty that crossed his part. He has been chasing the lady for some months now and had failed on every attempt to woo her. He really liked her so much. Not just like, he was really in love with her. That explains the reason why he left his duty and chased after her. When he regained his senses was after she rejected him yet again. It hurts so bad but he couldn't dwell on it much. He needed to find his Boss that he suddenly realized was missing. Canon ran to the security room to look at the camera footage. He cursed under his breath when he saw August escaping through the back door. How many minutes did he left him and now his gone? He gritted his teeth and bit down his lips, as if that wasn't enough, he smashed his fist against the wall. With his hands bleeding, Canon ran out of the building to the garage with his heart beating hard in his chest. He hoped what he was thinking wasn't true. Upon getting to the parking lot, Canon was disappointed to see that August's car was there, which only meant that his Boss must've gone home on his own. This is really bad....he thought. What if he enters into danger? No, he mustn't think that way. Canon wished the best for his Boss **************** "Welcome to greenlight, sir. What model of Motorbike do you want to buy?" The man in black and white suit asked August with a smile on his face. Ah, it must be the salesman.... August assumed. Being distracted from trying his flirting luck for the first since he came to this unknown place didn't sit well with August; he didn't even ask her for her name or any means of contacting her. Shouldn't he'd done that when he'd the chance? August gritted his teeth as he tried to compose himself. He sent the salesman a deadly look secretly as he continued to curse him in his heart. If it wasn't for him, he would've succeed in getting that lady's contact info. "Give me the best and latest model that you have" August said, his voice was mixed with grudge. Totally oblivious of the fact that he has offended his customer greatly, the salesman led August towards a garage that was filled with different models and designs of motorbikes. August continued sending the man daggers while he chewed him in his heart. He only calmed his spirit down when he saw the sea of power bikes before him. This made him to finally smile at the salesman who also breathed a sigh of relief. The salesman didn't know why but he felt a thick tension in the air as he led this strange customer to this place. However, the smile from the customer was all it took for the atmosphere to be cleared. Out of excitement, August tried to touch one of the bikes that caught his undivided attention. That one was all black with elegant and beautiful designs. It had stainless parts in few places. The bike looked intimidating and powerful with it's sleek design but he wanted it as it best described what he had in mind. August was surprised to see that he couldn't touch it but instead, touched air. "Sorry sir, for safety precautions, we don't exactly show the bikes to our customers. We only show them the virtual ones" The salesman explained. "Oh... is that so?" August was taking aback. "You requested the best and latest model sir. That's why I took you to this place" "Does it mean that there are some that you show to your customers directly" August wanted to know. " Yes sir. Those ones are the old versions and not as expensive as these ones" The salesman clarified. " Oh I see" August nodded his head. "Which means that this ones must be ridiculously expensive" He unknowingly thought out loud. " No sir. They're considerably expensive" The salesman man corrected politely with a smile plastered on his face. "August felt embarrassed when the realization dawned on him. "How much is this one?" August pointed at that one that he appreciated the most. The salesman man pressed a button on the wall and the bike he pointed at became larger while the others disappeared. August gasped in admiration as he watched this; the garage looked like a real one with myriads of bikes to feed the eyes but with just one button that was pressed, all of them disappeared leaving one behind? The designer of this place must be a wizard. "That one is 45 million silver coins, sir" The salesman declared without batting an eye. "What" August almost screamed out but when he remembered the amount of zeros he'd seen in his account (the Prince's account), he controlled himself. The zeros were almost uncountable and it's not surprising to see that the prince worth that much. Although he still doesn't understand the currency of this world very well, one thing he was sure of was that the amount of coins in that account could last for many life times. August thought he should help and spend some so it won't be a waste. After paying for the extremely exorbitant power bike, August refused them delivering it to him as he immediately drove it away. Breezing through cars felt thrilling and fulfilling to August as he cruised his ride while he resumed his journey to nowhere in particular. He fired the speed monster relentlessly, striving to at least get far away from the eyes that must be searching for him by now. Finally getting to do what he had always wanted to do gladdened August's heart. Driving a power bike felt so cool, he felt refreshed by the heavy breeze that was threatening to throw him off the bike. In this world, not only cars and space crafts could fly. Even powerful bikes like the one he was on top could also do the wonder of soaring into the sky but he wasn't ready to take that risk; dying one time was already enough for him. ************* Back in the castle, Canon searched everywhere but couldn't find his missing Boss. Normally, he wasn't supposed to feel worried at all. It wasn't in his place to do so because his previous boss with a good state of mind could take care of himself. In fact he was very powerful to the extent that he could detect when danger was looming in the dark. He would simply deal with it and it's source. He himself couldn't even look him in the eyes while talking to him. But now, things has changed. This August's his business especially now that he doesn't remember anything. His safety was in his hand and if anything bad happened to August, he would be held responsible. So to secure his own life, he desperately needs to find and protect his boss. He must do it discreetly. The king would never spare his life if anything should happen to August; he didn't even inform the king about his son's health. Canon slapped himself mentally and almost screamed his frustration out. If only he knew what he's gotten himself into. This is a serious case that could take his life and that of his families. Next time, he vowed to stay as far away as possible from that lady. For now? He must find him. But where? There's only one way.... Canon thought as a glint of hope resurfaced in his hopeless eyes. ******************* After driving for what seemed like eternity, August finally felt safe. He slowly came to a stop as he noticed a restaurant from afar, his stomach has been growling in protest and he needed to feed it. He parked his new baby properly and removed his helmet before walking into the restaurant after admiring it a bit more. And by now, everywhere was already dark. Just as he was about to open the door, he was suddenly pushed away by a lady. She spared him a pitiful glance before opening the door and walked in. What nonsense, August thought furiously. "Hey you almost pushed me to the floor, the least you could do is to say sorry" August barked angrily as he chased after the lady. The green haired lady didn't say anything but appeared unfazed as she catwalked to a table by the corner and sat down. Being treated like a fool when he was demanding for an apology from the arrogant lady further aggravated August the more. Who the hell does she think she is.... he thought as he also followed the lady to her designated corner. He's a justice seeker and he won't stop until he obtains it. "Hey, am talking to you. I know that you're not deaf, therefore, you can hear me outrightly. When you hurt someone, you should at least apologise to the victim. Isn't that what being a reasonable human is all about?" August reasoned. Nevermind the fact that he was now in the body of a big guy with handsome face, the truth remains that he was still the same person; the petty August from planet Earth that has a good sense of justice. "Hi, I'm Melissa" The lady finally opened her mouth to introduce herself. "I'm August" August rolled his eyes grudgingly. However, he failed to see the smile tugging at the corner of the lady's mouth. "August, huh? That's a sexy name" The lady teased. Hearing her complimenting his name caused August to blush. Nevertheless, he continued with his petty demand. "That's not what I'm talking about so don't try to change the- " Oh yes I know. You're talking about justice and whatever. Let's just eat ok and after that I will give you your so called justice" Melissa waved her hand dismissively as she cut August's rantings short. After he was promised of his justice, August couldn't argue anymore as he swallowed all he wanted to say. He reluctantly sat in front of Melissa like a cornered dog. She smiled at him but didn't say anything. August just rolled his eyes. The two quietly ordered their foods and ate silently. It wasn't until every dish on the table was consumed by their hungry stomach leaving the plates empty that Melissa opened her mouth first. She looked at August intently with her brows furrowed. August felt pressured by the lady's scrutinising gaze and looked away, his stomach didn't help matter as it fluttered and churned uneasily which stimulated the abnormality of his heart beat. He felt like a criminal that was caught red-handed. "Can she really tell who I am?" He couldn't helped but wonder. Then the lady opened her mouth once more, "You know, I couldn't see you properly because my eyes was clouded with hunger. But now that I'm staring at you with a clearer eyes, your face looks familiar" August shifted on his seat uncomfortably as he scratched his head nervously.
