Epilogue
“Crack!” A sharp sound echoed through the room. “Are you even human? You won’t even save your own sister’s life?!” Bryan shouted angrily. Moon held her swollen cheek in disbelief as she stared at Bryan. “You… want me to save Olivia? Do you even realize she needs my heart?” “So what?” Bryan sneered. “Olivia is a model — the most beautiful woman in Haneul City. But you? Did you really think I would fall in love with you? A fat pig with an ugly face!” He looked at her with complete disgust. “If it weren’t for our families’ arrangement, do you really think I would’ve gotten engaged to you?” Moon’s eyes widened in shock. A cold sweat broke out across her body as her mind went blank. She had relied on her medical skills to help Bryan slowly recover from his disabled legs, step by step. Just when she thought they could finally be together, the Gray family suddenly announced that Olivia was suffering from heart failure and urgently needed a heart transplant. To save Olivia, Moon would have to sacrifice her own life. She thought Bryan — her fiancé — would never agree to such a cruel request. But she never expected him to trick her into coming to the hospital and force her to sign the organ donation papers. Tears streamed endlessly down Moon’s face, yet she suddenly burst into laughter. After three years of love, she had fallen for a monster. Bryan looked at her almost hysterical state with visible disgust. He grabbed her wrist tightly and shouted, “Sign it now! Olivia doesn’t have much time left!” “No! I won’t sign it!” Moon struggled desperately, but how could she possibly overpower a man like Bryan? Soon, the two crooked words “Moon Gray” appeared on the document. Bryan finally released a relieved sigh. He immediately handed the papers to the assistant beside him. “Give this to the doctor and begin the surgery immediately!” “Yes, sir!” Soon, Moon was dragged into the operating room. After the anesthesia was injected into her body, all her strength disappeared, though she remained faintly conscious. “Bang!” The operating room doors slammed shut. Moon wanted to speak, but she no longer had the strength to even open her mouth. At that moment, the side door opened. Her stepmother, Joan — who had always pretended to treat her like a daughter — slowly approached with a smile on her face. At the same time, laughter echoed through the room. Moon stared in horror. Olivia, who was supposedly unconscious on the bed beside her, suddenly sat up laughing. “You…” Moon forced out weakly in disbelief. Olivia climbed out of bed and slowly walked toward her with Joan. “My dear sister, I’m truly touched that you’re willing to donate your heart,” Olivia said coldly. “Unfortunately… I don’t need it.” At that instant, Moon finally understood. Olivia never had heart disease. She never needed a transplant. What Olivia truly wanted… was her life. Moon struggled violently against the restraints, but her hands and feet were tightly bound, and the anesthesia left her powerless. Olivia pretended to wipe away tears as she looked down at Moon lying on the operating table. Then suddenly, Olivia froze. She stared at Moon’s face in complete disbelief. “Your face…” she stammered. The acne and dark spots covering Moon’s face had mysteriously faded away, revealing flawless and stunning beauty beneath. Even without makeup, she looked breathtaking. For the first time in her life, Olivia — known as the most beautiful woman in Haneul City — felt inferior. At that moment, she realized something terrifying. If Moon entered the entertainment industry, she would become a thousand times more famous than Olivia could ever dream of. “How… how is this possible?” Olivia’s face turned deathly pale. So the ugly pig they mocked all these years… was actually beautiful. Moon had once foolishly believed Bryan loved her for who she truly was, so she planned to surprise him after fully treating her face. But what did she receive in return? Betrayal. Bryan had forced her to donate her heart to Olivia. Jealousy instantly filled Olivia’s eyes. She absolutely could not allow Bryan to see Moon’s real face. “Quick! Start the surgery immediately!” Olivia screamed. Joan also shouted impatiently, “What are you all waiting for? Do it now!” Everyone in the operating room had already been bribed by them, so no one hesitated. Suddenly— The operating room doors burst open. A tall figure appeared at the entrance. Olivia and Joan froze in shock. “What exactly are you doing?” Bryan’s older brother walked in, his gaze dangerously cold as it landed on Olivia. “I—” “Get her out of here,” he interrupted sharply. Panic flashed across Joan’s face. Without hesitation, she grabbed a heavy metal object nearby and struck Moon violently on the head. Moon’s vision blurred instantly. Then everything went dark. Before losing consciousness completely, she faintly heard a furious voice. “Hold her down! Call the police immediately!” … Moon was secretly transferred to a private hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, Olivia and Joan were quickly released using Bryan’s connections. Pain. Her head hurt unbearably. Moon suddenly opened her eyes and saw an incredibly handsome face inches away from hers. The man had been touching her face. The moment he realized she was awake, he immediately withdrew his hand. Moon was stunned. What was happening? Wasn’t she supposed to have died on the operating table? How did she end up here? And who was this man? Her mind froze as she looked around the room. To her surprise, she was still in a hospital. She tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through her head. “Don’t move,” the man said calmly. “Your injuries haven’t fully healed yet.” Moon stared at him cautiously. “Where am I? And who are you?” “I’m Bryan’s older brother,” he replied. “And you’re obviously in a hospital.” Moon lowered her gaze briefly before speaking. “I need to go home… but first, I need to recover completely.” Adrian looked at her in disbelief. “Did you lose your memory or something? They almost killed you.” Moon smiled faintly. “I know.” A cold glint flashed through her eyes. “But I need to make them pay.” Adrian was slightly taken aback by the hatred hidden beneath her calm expression. Finally, he sighed. “Suit yourself. You can leave whenever you want.” Moon glanced at her reflection nearby and noticed the acne and dark spots slowly reappearing due to the lack of treatment. She let out a quiet sigh. She was penniless now and needed money to continue her treatment. But one thing was certain. She would make everyone who hurt her repay her suffering a hundredfold.
