Cynthia “Do we at least get a kiss? Cause you two look so cute together.” The president drawled and I watched as Jaden kissed Ashley by the side of her lips, while everyone except me clapped heartily. Jaden is my boyfriend, and we’ve been together for over seven years, since high school, but our relationship became a secret since he began to play hockey professionally and I became the team’s coach. Which is why I have to sit and act like I’m fine with watching my boyfriend and Ashley, a top model of the country, attend a bunch of events together as a date. Of course, it was just a public stunt, which the agency planned. It wasn’t real, but it still hurt to watch them act like they were in love. Since the moment we arrived here, I haven’t been in a good mood and not even a handshake from the president could bring me out of that mood. I should be the happiest right now. In just two months, a hockey team that no one knew, is suddenly a global sensation, all thanks to Jaden leading the rest of the team to deliver a massive defeat to a famous team that used to officially represent America. And tonight, the White House finally invited the entire team over. There’s already rumors that our team, the owls, would end up replacing the fallen team and start officially representing America everywhere. Should that happen, every player in the team would rise to stardom and my career as a coach would kick off immensely when I’m just twenty-five. And I am extremely happy. I was once a little girl who loved hockey to an obsessive point, but couldn’t pursue it due to a severe injury at ten. That birthed a new dream for me, to become a coach, cause at least that way I’d always be close to the ice. A lot of people outrightly laughed in my face and believed I was washing my time, claiming this was a man’s job… except Jaden who believed in me from the start. I just wished that now, I can publicly be in his arms while we both keep rising to greater heights together. After all, we plan to spend the rest of our lives together, and it’s tiring that we still can’t do anything in public, except in private. He promised that we’d go public after his career takes off and this is the perfect time for him to finally publicize our relationship. But he keeps insisting that it wasn’t the right time yet. My phone pinged and I looked at it. It was an unknown number. I frowned, clicking on it just as the next question the president asked wafted into my ear. “So, Jaden, what plans do you have for my little niece?” Yeah, the president is Ashley’s uncle. I paused, glancing up and watching as Jaden laughed bashfully before him and Ashley exchanged a look. “Well, sir, we’re kinda taking it slow…” “That’s right, uncle.” Gorgeous Ashley in her sparkling silver dress sighed out demurely, her head leaning against Jaden’s shoulders. “Jaden thinks the news would upset his fans.” “What news? If it’s the one the whole Internet are impatiently waiting on, I doubt that would happen.” The President pointed out and everyone laughed. But I wasn’t laughing. There was nothing funny about the conversation. “So, son, what’s the news? Are you gonna keep your old president in the dark?” “Uncle!” Ashley berated softly but she was grinning shyly. Jaden stood and took her hand in his, kissing it. “I guess the cat can come out of the bag since the president gave his blessings. We’re in a relationship, sir.” It was like the world stopped as those words echoed through the room and my nails dug into my palm till it bled. Hoots and claps echoed around me, while the president hugged Jaden and asked him to treat his niece well. My head whirled hard, unable to believe what just happened. I glanced sideways to see the rest of the team members watching me with shock. They all knew I and Jaden are dating after all. My stomach twisted at the sympathy on their faces as they all began to speak. “It’s probably just a part of the publicity stunt, so don’t look so sad, C.” “True.” “Jaden loves you, everyone of us knows that.” “Yeah. No way is this relationship real.” They all echoed while nodding, but I couldn’t be here a moment longer, not when it felt like the world was about to be pulled from beneath my feet. I wasn’t sure of how I excused myself but I did, and now I was stumbling into the car which belonged to the agency, asking the driver to take me back to the block where the entire team lived. My phone pinged again and I wanted to fling it out the window, but I paused on realizing it was from the same number as before. There was no messaged, just video clips. For some reason, instead of just blocking the number, I clicked on the first video. It was dark at first, the roof in it kept shifting, while giggles echoed in the background. I was about to turn it off when a familiar voice’s rang out. “Part your legs for me, Ashley baby. I’m gonna eat you out till you see stars.” My heartbeat stopped, and my hold around the phone tightened. No. No. It couldn’t be. But as the image shifted from the roof, to between pale, naked thighs, Jaden was cockily staring right at the screen, while his tongue darted out to slid over the p***y right in front of him, then he buried his face in it like a starved animal and groaned. Moans filled the air, and cries of Jaden’s name over and over again while she pulled on his hair hard. I couldn’t breathe. I knew I should turn it off but I couldn’t. I felt frozen. The news he revealed to the president back in the White House made sense now. Jaden, the man I was supposed to spend the rest of my life with, was cheating on me… with Ashley whom he swore was just a thing he was doing for the public. Oh god. I suddenly felt so sick that I only managed to roll down the window before puking. I didn't remember getting home and into the apartment I shared with Jaden in the agency, but I did, and I held back my tears with everything in me. It hurt so much, but I refused to break down. What I needed right now, was answers. It felt like a horrible joke when Jaden finally stumbled home after so many hours. I guess it would have hurt less if he was alone, but he was with Ashley, and they were kissing heavily, desperately pulling at each other’s clothes while I sat in the dark, watching numbly. The sight twisted my heart even more. “You have no shame, huh?” I asked quietly as I switched the lights on, welcoming the shock on their faces. “Babe, why’s she here? This is why I keep asking you to move in with me.” Ashley gritted out as she regarded me with so much scorn. Jaden leaned down and nuzzled her throat. “I thought she went someone else after storming off. Why don’t you go wait in the car? We’ll go finish this at yours.” He said to her and after they exchanged a kiss, he was finally alone with me. His blond hair was tossed, framing his face in a way that made him look smoking hot. Jaden was very attractive and he knew it. Since the team suddenly got famous two months ago, clips of his face have gone viral every single day. “Say something!” I marched forward, shoving at his chest while I felt my heart crack from so much hurt. “Say something, you bastard. Say something!” “Do I have to say it? We’re over, Cynthia.” He breathed out calmly while staring down at me, hands pocketed. A dry laugh left me. I couldn’t believe my ears. “Oh, don’t look so shocked. You knew the relationship wouldn’t get anywhere after I started blowing up. You think I’ll still settle for you when I can have people better than you?” His words made me recoil, and I felt like screaming. “How can you say this? I built you, Jaden. I coached you since highschool, throughout college. We promised to win together—” “It’s my talent that got the whole team this far. Not your mediocre coaching, but my natural star talent.” He stepped closer this time. “You know you were never that good a coach. You f*****g sucked, because you’re a f*****g girl. I just never said anything before.” I gasped in disbelief while my heart shattered. Never did I imagine I’ll hear those exact words from him. He pulled out his phone as he continued. “Which is why I’ll like you to willing drop out of the team. That would save you the embarrassment of being kicked out yourself. I’ll like you to also keep our past relationship a secret, so… name your price, I’ll have the money wired to you.” My mouth hung open for a few seconds. Right in front of me, the man I loved for seven years was no more. This is a monster, a cruel one. “You’re crazy, Jaden. I’ll never do that!” I gritted, breathing hard from rage. “This is my career, which I poured so much into. I also built this team, it was nothing without me. Why the f**k would I drop it because you offered to pay me off?” “Wrong, it was because of my talent. And I already have a new coach on ground, a better coach. I’ve even told the agency about it. Either drop out or you’ll forcefully get kicked out.” “I’ll never do that. You can’t force me.” He grinned. “I can’t?” I stepped forward, my heart thumping hard. “If you try to ruin me, I swear, I’ll ruin you in return. Someone sent me your s*x tape with Ashley and I’m gonna release it to the public.”
