I woke up tangled with Chance again. We'd both had a rough night, but he'd been tossing and turning more, though unable to turn much because of his leg. So I did the kind thing and moved first. I pulled my leg from between his, making sure not to bump his bad one, then sat up and immediately hated my life. Though bundled up in all my winter gear, I was freezing the moment I came out from under our blanket pile. I hurried over to the stove with chattering teeth and restarted the fire. The log pile beside it was pretty substantial, so at least we had that in our favor.
