Two days later, our situation had changed little, if at all. The only difference was that we were both crabby and hungry. The granola bars were gone, and we were subsiding on handfuls of bran cereal here and there. It wasn't going well. As I climbed out the window, my whole body was sluggish, and my mind was fuzzy. My stomach alternated between grumbling and swirling with nausea. Yesterday my signs had been fine, but I'd decided I would check on them again. I didn't want to chance some wind blowing them away in the night and us not being found in time. Because time was an issue.
