In the room, we went our separate ways. I pulled on snow pants over my jeans and traded my converse for boots. I pulled on two jackets, my poofy coat, a scarf, a hat, and gloves before finally feeling ready. In the living area, I found Chance in a winter coat, gloves, and cap. He looked good. Too good. When his eyes fell on me, his lips twitched before he pressed them to restrain an unmistakable smile. I narrowed my eyes at him and stormed to the door in a huff. It wasn't my fault the cold was my mortal enemy. We met up with the others, grabbed our shovels, and were herded to the side door.
