The river made a course correction shortly after I started out this morning. It is heading a little bit northeast now. I thought rivers ran east or south. Come to think of it, that first river I hunted with Heinz and Grant ran west. Hmmm. That was sure a long time ago. Strange things these rivers. They seem to have a life of their own. Man doesn"t really have much control over them, and when he tries to get control, he usually screws them up. There have been quite a few small creeks feeding into the Platte and it continues to get wider and deeper. My butt hasn"t bumped bottom for a long time. I"ve seen quite a few geese but not many ducks, and of course, no hunters. Just their empty blinds staring out at the river. Empty blinds certainly look haunting when the season is over. Sad spaces,
