Chapter 6: Marrying an Ex-Girlfriend

“-maintain this marriage forever.”
Eve finally finished saying her wedding vows.
It still feels like a dream, the woman I love so much who had to be taken away from me by force, is now back in my arms.
The happiness I feel cannot be described, if I don't hold Eve's hand I think I will fly.
I kissed her hand gently, then moved on to her forehead and nose.
I stopped when I was about to kiss her lips. I looked at Eve's teary eyes. Then I decided not to kiss her on the lips.
It's been one week since Eve signed the divorce papers with Ethan, and now she's married to me.
It wasn't easy even though I knew she didn't want to stay with Ethan either. But the only way I could protect her was to make her my wife.
Seeing Eve betrayed and suffering made me want to give her the happiness she wasn't getting. To do that, I needed to make sure that Eve was no longer in a relationship with any man.
So I also helped her to take care of all the terms to divorce Ethan.
I still love Eve, my love hasn't diminished one bit even though she was married to Ethan.
Because I knew Eve was in that marriage because she was forced to, not because she wanted to.
She was used as a debt redemption by her father, that's outrageous.
And I think Eve was very frustrated and angry with her ex-husband the other day not because she didn't want a divorce, but because she was betrayed.
After Eve told me everything that night, I wanted to see Ethan right away.
Unfortunately, Eve forbade me, she didn't want violent revenge because it would only hurt temporarily. That's why I still haven't done anything to that bastard.
Imagining the betrayal Eve received, where she was taken as a second wife without her knowing, was unforgivable. It was so heinous because Eve believed Ethan loved her at first, but it turned out that she was only used as a breeding tool for that man.
I promise I will always love Eve for the rest of my life until I can't breathe anymore.
I wipe away the tears that are about to fall from Eve's eyes. These beautiful eyes should only shed happy tears.
“Thank you for choosing to stay with me,” I said.
Yes, I am very grateful to Eve for giving me another chance to make her happy again like before. With this precious opportunity, I wanted to make the most of it.
Eve smiled, but it was a forced smile.
“It's okay if you don't want to smile yet, don't force it.”
I stroked her hair gently.
“No one sees us other than the priest, so it doesn't matter.”
That's right, no one witnessed our wedding. No guests at all.
It was Eve's decision, I respected it.
And that way, my adoptive parents don't have to know that I married Eve. Because they won't stay silent, they will protest.
I hold Eve's hand tightly and lead her to the car.
Eve is really beautiful in this wedding dress. She's like a wingless angel. I can't even take my eyes off her.
“Are we going back to your house?” she asked.
I was planning to take Eve for a honeymoon. Not because I wanted to sleep with her right away, but because I wanted her to take a vacation.
Since Eve hadn't traveled at all in her previous marriage, it felt very unfair. With Ethan's wealth, he should be able to take Eve abroad at least once a year.
So now I want Eve to experience the vacation she wants. Especially if a vacation can ease her mind, then I can take her on vacation every day.
“We'll go see the aurora.”
I glanced at Eve.
“I have some work there.”
Argh, why can't I just say that the purpose of going there is to please her? Why did I make that excuse as work instead?
Eve sighed. “Well, I can't refuse right?”
Please, Eve, don't be disappointed, it was me who misspoke. I don't want her to think that I married her for any other reason than loving her.
“I mean, since we're going there for vacation, I want to visit the company there at the same time,” I corrected.
Eve didn't respond again, she chose to look out the window.
It's okay Eve, I know one week is not a long time to heal the wounds in your heart. I'm ready to wait until you heal, I'll be by your side.
I drove the car to the airport. Everything is ready, we just need to leave for our destination.
It will be a long and warm journey. And this will be my first trip on an airplane accompanied by a woman, the woman I love, Eve Jaden Lauder.
I decided to give my real last name to Eve, one of our dreams when we were dating.
“I have to wear this wedding dress to the plane?”
Eve finally looked at me.
“People think I ran away with you.”
I chuckled, “I've prepared a set of clothes for you, it's in the back. You can change when-”
I reflexively slammed on the brakes when Eve pulled off her wedding dress and grabbed the change of clothes I had hung over the passenger seat.
Eve made my heart beat faster.
How could I not?
Now she's taken off her wedding dress and she's not wearing a single piece of cloth on her upper body.
I was at a loss for words and could only watch her change in front of me.
“Why? It's like you've never seen a naked woman,” she said nonchalantly.
Hey, I've never seen a naked woman before! But I couldn't get the words out because I was still in shock from what I had just seen.
The good thing was that my car had black glass that wasn't see-through, so no one would be able to see from out there.
But still, Eve managed to give me a heart attack.
I swallowed my saliva hard.
“You can change your clothes at the airport later.”
“I want to change here. After all, you're the only one who sees me and you're already my husband, right?”
I reflexively nodded quickly.
“If I change at the airport, it will raise questions in the minds of many people. Especially since you're a famous businessman, many people know you. What would they think if it turned out that you were married to me, who is Ethan's ex-wife?”
Eve rolled her eyes.
“They won't accept that a wealthy, young billionaire like you is married to a widow.”
I quickly covered her mouth with my hand.
“I don't care what others say about being your husband. I love you, that's the only reason I married you.”
