Chapter 12: Ex-husband's Regrets

1132 Words
ETHAN Damn it! Eve, how could she know Darren who is the CEO of Vega Group? Vega Group! The family company that I've been eyeing for a long time to become an investor in my company. This is so impossible to happen. And what was that, they dated in high school? Shit! That means back then, when my family and I came to her house and her father handed her over to me, she was already in a relationship with Darren? But how did Eve know Darren? I mean, their lives are so different. Their circles must be different, too. And how did they meet? “I'm sorry Sir, there's a file you need to sign.” No matter how much I tried to calm down, I couldn't do it. The news of Eve's wedding with Darren had me in a tizzy. Was it possible that Eve was already expecting her divorce because she cheated on me? If that was true, I would sue her for breaking the contractual agreement made by her father. “Sir?” I pounded on the table. “Just put it down and you can go.” But then I realized something. “Wait, do you know something between Eve and her new husband?” Davis looked down instead of at me. “I don't know about your ex-wife's personal relationship, Sir. In fact I only found out you had a second wife when she came to the office, Sir.” Damn, come to think of it, it's true that Eve's arrival to this office was for the first time because I never brought her here. That's because things would get messy if anyone found out that I had another wife besides Tiffany, my first wife. Even though Tiffany and I both knew and agreed that I was remarrying to have children, the office people didn't know. They only knew that my wife was Tiffany, a famous model who many men wanted to be with. I hid Eve because I didn't want her to be recognized by others as I had intended to divorce her after she gave birth to our child. But after 6 years of marriage, she never got pregnant. So there was no reason to keep her anymore. But still, seeing the news of her relationship with Darren, it felt like I was the one being fooled here. Eve was nothing more than a woman who produced offspring that her father sold to me to replace a debt. That's why I didn't have any feelings for her. I called her after she ran away from work on my birthday yesterday because I was afraid she'd leak our relationship to someone else. People who are heartbroken can do anything, right? I was afraid Eve would go rogue and reveal everything and ruin my career. Turns out she didn't tell anyone and I thought she would disappear or move out of town. But then she showed up as a billionaire's wife? What a cunning woman. “I have to find out if Eve also told Darren that she was once my wife.” I decided to open the document handed over by Davis and sign it. I read it as usual, but when I saw the words 'Vega Group', I couldn't help but be surprised. Vega Group agreed to be my company's investor? That massive company wanted to cooperate with my company? Gosh, what a miracle! “Yes! It worked after all!” This way my question was answered, Eve probably hadn't told Darren that I was her ex-husband. Because if Darren knew, he wouldn't have agreed to invest in my company. That woman knows herself too. “Looks like you just saw a shooting star?” Tiffany came over, I immediately ran to hug her. I lifted her up and took her for a spin. “Hey I'm dizzy!” I couldn't hide my happiness. Tiffany should know that my company is going to grow much more rapidly now that I've gotten a funding injection from Vega Group. “There's good news.” I kissed Tiffany all over her face. She just giggled and rolled her eyes. I always liked the smell of the perfume she used, it reminded me of freedom and luxury. As a model, she has very good taste from head to toe. When compared to Eve, they are much different. Physically Tiffany is still number one, Eve is nothing. “What's the good news? You want to buy me a new car?” She pushed me until I fell on the chair and she was on my lap. I love Tiffany's style, she always has a way to liven up the romantic atmosphere between us. I put my arms around her waist and brought her body closer to mine. “Vega Group is investing in my company.” Her eyes rounded perfectly. Who doesn't know about Vega Group? Well, except Eve, because she rarely plays with her phone because I restrict her. “Are you serious?” she asked for confirmation. “Yes, I just signed the documents.” I pointed to the document on the table. Tiffany picked it up and sat next to me again. She read the document carefully. And then she smiled as broadly as I did. “Finally!” She hugged me tightly. I hugged her back. I rested my head on her shoulder. “Do you agree to stop modeling after this? I think my money is more than enough to fulfill your needs. You don't need to work anymore.” Her embrace slipped and she stood up from my lap. “We've already discussed it. I'm not going to stop modeling.” She sighed. “You haven't forgotten that I allowed you to marry Eve so that she would carry your child instead of me? You know that if I have a child, then my body will no longer be the same. And a model's body is an asset, Ethan.” Still, I thought getting this investment would make Tiffany stop. Because I also want her to claim me as her husband in front of everyone, not secretly like this. She is my wife and people know, but no one knows that I am her husband. “Not that if you get this good news, you can make me give up my career. I've been modeling long before I married you and I'm not going to change my decision.” She picked up her bag and walked out of my room with the door firmly shut. This is how our conversations always end, I'm sick of it. I'm going to find another wife eventually so I can have children and hopefully that will allow Tiffany to stay home and leave her modeling career behind.
