EVE
I wiped off the results of today's makeup class. It's not that I didn't like it, it's just that after Olivia said she knew Tiffany, it felt like I was following her. I feel uncomfortable.
Every time I hear something related to Ethan, it turns out that my heart is still not too ready to accept it.
I hadn't heard about him for almost two weeks, which was the reason why I was fine, but now I was just entering the relapse phase.
Everything about Ethan made me sad and angry at the same time.
“Ma'am, Mr. Darren is home.”
Alice snapped me out of my reverie.
As she left, Darren suddenly walked in. He looked at me from my reflection in the mirror and smiled.
“Did today's makeup class go well?”
“Yes, thank you for bringing Olivia here. That must have been very expensive.”
Darren hugs me from behind. It's so sudden, without warning and reminds me of the time he hugged me when he saw the aurora.
“Is it really that smooth? Your expression looks the opposite.”
I had to sigh. I honestly didn't know whether to be honest with Darren or not. But if Darren changed his makeup artist, he would have to pay a lot of money again. Wasting money on my selfishness was not wise.
“Just say it, it's okay,” he said softly in my ear.
“That tickles Darren.”
I elbowed his stomach to get him to break our hug.
“Olivia was very helpful and friendly, I just don't like how my makeup turned out today, that's all.”
“Ah then, we can make the class hours longer right? So that you can practice carefully and more comfortably.”
I didn't mean it that way. Why did I increase the class time?
“Actually, the time is enough. I just need to keep practicing. Olivia is very busy anyway, so there's no need to increase the class hours anymore, okay?”
“Alright, alright, if that's what you want then what can I do?”
Darren then gently pulled my hand to get out of this room.
“Where are we going?”
He turned his head.
“Let's go to the beach to watch the sunset.”
The beach? God, I want to go there so badly.
The last time I visited the beach was when I was looking for Darren. But he didn't show up and I only found out recently that he was being held captive by my father's men.
I thought at the time that my love was unrequited and Darren was just playing with my feelings, it turned out that he was indeed prevented from seeing me.
Darren and I loved the beach, we had made an appointment during the New Year holidays to visit the beach again because it was going to snow.
Seeing snow on the beach was strange but it was like magic because it was so unbelievable, it was so beautiful.
“Even though it's not snowing right now, at least we can be there enjoying the sunset. Next time I'll take you to the beach again if it snows,” he said.
I can't believe Darren still remembers his promise from the past.
“Keep your promise this time.”
“Sure, I'll keep it, Eve.”
We finally went to the beach in Darren's car.
He gave me sunglasses, the same pair as his.
Then he took the hood off the car, sending my hair flying. But it was so much fun!
“What if someone else sees us?”
“Why? After all, the news about us has already spread. They already know we're a couple, so let them witness this.”
Darren gently stroked my hair.
I wanted to be like Darren who had such thoughts.
But I'm not the type of person who can easily get rid of other people's thoughts about me because from a young age I've been told how I have to look good in front of others.
Apparently it carried over into adulthood until now, when I should only focus on myself, not the words of others.
I glanced at Darren who was also enjoying this trip.
Darren is truly like an untouchable young master. His aura is so charismatic that it makes me dazzle. He really makes me ask myself if he is indeed Darren, my ex-boyfriend.
Oh God, if Darren was indeed sent to me to heal the heartache caused by Ethan, then let him stay by my side longer until my feelings of love for him return to what they once were.
“Is it hot?”
I shook my head quickly.
“I like this kind of weather.”
“Thank God.”
Then Darren increased the speed of the car.
We arrived at the beach just as the sun was about to set.
Since it was a rare moment, Darren took me for a run on the sand.
Our steps were heavy because our shoes were full of sand which made Darren take off his shoes and mine.
Darren carried me bridal style and ran to bring me closer to the shore.
“Stop, put me down Darren!”
He laughed seeing my face which was probably red from embarrassment by now. This wasn't a private beach, so other people must have been watching us.
“We're newlyweds,” he says with a wink.
I threw my shoes at him.
“Watch out!”
He managed to dodge my throw. And then he tickled my stomach.
I couldn't stand being tickled so I ran away, trying to get away from him.
Turns out Darren was chasing me. I ran even faster because of Darren's annoying face as if he wanted to tease me.
Eventually we ended up running around on the beach instead of enjoying the sunset while sitting quietly. But I like it that way. I enjoyed this moment that finally came true.
Because I was tired, I finally stopped.
“You gave up?”
I nodded, no longer able to speak.
Darren covers the sunlight that dazzles my eyes by standing with his back to the sea. At this point I could only see his silhouette.
Suddenly my heart was beating very fast. I don't know if it was because I was running and stopped suddenly or because I saw Darren standing in front of me with a smile on his face.
“Are you feeling better?”
He walked over to me and pulled my hand until it eroded the distance between us.
“You don't have to hold anything back, just tell me. I'll definitely help you out of your worries. You trust me, right?”
I unconsciously nodded.
He tucked my hair behind my ear.
“Thank you for believing in me, Eve.”
