The car ride was quiet. Tense even. Everyone was on edge and you could feel it plainly hanging in the air. I was wedged between Jensen and Grayson in the last row of the car while Rebecca and Sterling were in the middle and Peter in the driver’s seat. Through the rearview mirror, I could see the SUV the Delgado’s and Vern were in, trailing closely behind us. I kept my gaze straight ahead, mostly watching the road.
