Rebecca opens the oak doors to her small, private study. She gestures with one hand for me to take a seat. I watch her as she stops in front of her desk, slowly turns around and sits on the edge of it. Her blue eyes pinned on me. They were the same shade as Grayson’s. She clears her throat. “I just wanted to check in on you. See how you’re doing.” Oh? “I’m fine.” “Good,” she says, nodding her head. Her eyes briefly flicker to the window. “No cold feet?” I shake my head. “None here.” She smiles, but something is different about this smile. She seems uneasy.
