Chapter 5: Glowing waters 2

Alissa's POV
I woke up to the sound of my mom, dad, and two best friends singing happy birthday to me.
"Guys get out, I haven't even got dressed yet." Is the first thing I groan out as I open my eyes.
"Happy birthday!" They yell in unison and throw a handful of streamers at me. Then my mom hands me a cupcake with a one candle on it.
I smile blow out the candle and eat the cupcake and they all cheer.
"Thanks guys" I say smiling at them, " now scram."
They all exit the room except my mom. She has a sad smile on her face as she sit on my bed holding an old jewelry box.
"Mom, I turned 16 not 25." I joke trying to cheer her up.
She let's out a sad chuckle then she opens the box. A breathtakingly beautiful pendant that looks like a solar eclipse sits on the gold chain.
"Promise me to keep this on, and never take it off." She says while placing the necklace around my neck.
"Mom why are you acting so weird." I ask wiping the tears from her eyes.
"I'm sorry sweetie, you just grew so fast." She laughs at her own words then wipes her tears. "But I'm serious about this necklace. Never take it off no matter what." The seriousness in her voice let's me know shes not playing around.
"Okay mom, I promise." I pull her in for a hug and she hold me tightly.
"There's so much I have to tell you, but I want you to go and enjoy your big day first." She says and kiss my forehead then gets up to leave.
"We can talk later when I get back. Or even tomorrow." I tell her jumping off my bed to ready.
I quickly shower and get dressed then head downstairs. To my surprise everyone is gathered by the kitchen waiting on me.
"Happy birthday again sweetheart, I love you" my dad's says then hugs and kisses my head the same way my mom did.
He hands me a same box wrapped up as I gift.
I open it to find bracelet and on it were mini lockets with different family photos of me him and mom.
"Aww thank you dad, I love it." I jump into his arms and hug him tightly. I start to sniffle as I feel tears prick my eyes.
It's so weird why does this feel like we're saying goodbye.
"Your mom was in on it."
"Thanks mom." I say reaching out for her to join in and make it a group hug. "I love both of you." I whisper.
"We love you too." They whisper back and I can't help but smile.
After all the sappy stuff ended we headed out for school.
Our parents don't know this but we only planned on going to first period then ditching.
As we arrive at she I get a tone of gifts and birthday wishes from almost everyone. We made two trips back to car and first bell hasn't even gone yet.
I know I'm nice to everyone and super friendly but I thought most of them didn't like me.
Turns out I was wrong.
"Thank God we decided to take first period or we would have gotten a failing grade for that pop quiz." I complain to Julia.
"I think Robert failed, he looked more lost than usual."
I burst out laughing when I see him with ink stains on him face.
"There a fraction on your face." Julia tell him cracking up.
"Enough with the jokes can we get out of here?" He mumbles
"Sure fraction face let's get going." We laugh and head to his car.
Since he's sleepy Julia takes the wheels.
And we go on our mini day trip we stop to buy a stacks and we already know Robert has drinks in the back.
We drive for about an hour just gossiping and talking about girl stuff then Robert suddenly wakes up.
"Good morning fraction fake." I say in a chirpy tone.
He finally takes a hint and look in the mirror, he starts cursing under his breath while wiping the fraction off his fac and Julia and I burst out laughing.
We spend the rest of journey singing our favorite songs on the top of our lungs until we were hoarse.
Soon we pull off the highway and head for the lake.
"This is a good place to oark right?" Julia asks Robert.
"I think you should try and go into the forest a bit more, plus theres cameras on my car so I don't car." He tells us and she follows his advice.
As soon as she parks I grab the towels we packed, Julia get the snacks and Robert carried the igloo.
"Damn this thing is heavy. Julia make sure to lock the the car."
"Man up Robert, I bet it's not even that heavy"
"Guys come on, I soo ready to have fun." I try to stop their bickering.
"Guys this lake is amazing!" I shout dropping the towels on a clean spot before running to the water.
"Calm down girl, and take your clothes off we didn't bring any extra!" Julia reminds me.
I turn on my heels and quickly strip out of my clothes, leaving the baby bikini I had on under my clothes.
I hear Robert let out a wolf whistle and I try to throw water at him be he's too far way for it to reach him.
"Really clever" He laughs at my dumb idea.
"Come on! What are you waiting for?" Julia asks him as she joins me in the lake splashing water in my face.
She splash each other for awhile before he decides to strip and jump in making an even bigger splash.
We soon get into a splashing fight but I slip and fall. I open my eyes and look what under the lake looks like but what catches my eyes is the slight glowing for my necklace.
I quickly stand up to take a better look at it.
"Hey what happened are you okay?" Julia also coming over to me.
"Yeah, I just thought my necklace glowed for a second." I tell her and a serious express takes over her features.
"Are you sure."
"Yes, no, I don't know. Maybe."
"Make up your mind."
"Is everything alright?" Robert's joins us and ask.
"Yeah we're gonna get some drinks." She's blow's him off.
Should I not say anything thing?
"But we just got in." He argues confused. "Did something happen when you fell?"
"No dumbass I just want drink and I want her to come with me." She mumbles and her mood change is clear.
She sits next to the igloo then takes her phone and starts playing music. I grab two sodas handing her one and she takes it.
Robert stays in the water by himself and I take a seat next to her.
"It there something you wanna tell me?" I ask after a few sips.
"Yes but not in front of him." She motions to Robert with the can.
"Hmm, sounds fishy to me." I joke bumping her with my shoulder.
She keeps staring off at the lake, its like her mind is elsewhere and as soon as her eyes land on Robert a sad expression takes over her face.
I stay quiet observing her unusual behavior. Then suddenly I begin to feel scared and a feeling of panic takes over.
"What the hell is wrong with me?" I accidentally ask myself aloud.
"Hey are you okay?" Julia asks with concern lacing her features.
"Yeah I'm fine, a weird feeling just came over me. I'm good now." I lie, I don't want her to worry about me.
It seems like she has a lot going on right now.
"Let's get back in there. He seems really lonely." I give her my best reassuring smile before getting up and running to the water.
We spend the rest of my birthday swimming, dancing and making fun memories.
"Hey guys, it getting kind of cold now. I think we should get going." I suggests.
"Five more minutes please." Julia begs.
"Fine, five and only five." I say sternly and she jumps on my back playfully.
"Guys what the hell is that?" Robert ask pointing to a spot in the water.
"Hey don't try to scare us out of the water it won't work."Julia warns him getting of my back.
I look to where he's pointing a d the water starts to bubble and change color.
"What the hell is that." I ask backing away.
"Move away from there." Julia shouts at Robert because he's inching closer. He stops in is travis and the water begins to glow bright blue.
"Holy sh*t what's happening?" I ask getting scared.
A girl jumps up from under the water and we all run away screaming.
"If this is a dumb birthday prank it not funny!" I scream on top of my lungs so loud that I scare the birds away.
When we reach the shore I finally stop and turn around.
The girl is soaking wet but I see no diving equipment on her and she's in normal clothes. She's coughing up water and coming towards us.
Her curtain of dark hair is covering her face so I can't make out her features. My instincts tell me to go to her so I grab a towel and move towards her but someone grabs me in a chokehold from behind.
"Robert what the hell are you doing?" Julia yells stomping over to him.
"Stay back guardian or she's dead, just like your good friend Robert."
