Chapter 2: Look deeper

Alissa's POV
'Come on your too slow. Slow people get left behind." The Reven haired girl says running in front of me.
"I'm not slow your going too fast. Wait!" I shout at her but she doesn't slow down.
I decide to try and run faster and I finally start catching up to her.
"Its right here." I hear her voice as she leaves the forest and reaches a clearing.
As I run to the clearing the light gets brighter and brighter until it becomes blinding.
I squint trying to see what she's showing me.
But my body begins to shake and everything becomes blurry.
"Wake up sweetie or you'll be late for school." I hear a faint voice say while my body is being shaken gently.
"I need to see this." I mumble turning on my side.
I've been having this dream for weeks and I finally get to see how it ends. And I get get rid of this weird need to see how it ends.
"Get up, you need to shower and go." She gently slaps my cheek.
For some reason my cheeks are super sensitive and I get pissed off when someone touches them.
"Mom nooooo. Why did you slap my cheeks?" I jump up complaining.
"It was the only way to get you up. I have no idea what you were dreaming about and I sure hope it wasn't sex."
"Mom ew,no. Just no." I cringe at her words jumping off my bed.
"That's what I used to say until I did it." She tries to justify her argument.
"Mom I don't even have a boyfriend. AMD just so you know. I'm still a virgin."
"Good to know honey, now keep it that way until your at least 18." She strictly and I hear my dad groan.
"I hope you heard that dad. I'm still virgin." I yell making sure he heard.
"Good, because I'm not ready to go to jail yet."
If and when I have s*x, not letting any of them find out. That'd be too weird.
And it's not like I'm planning on having s*x any time soon. My mom's a nurse and my dad's a doctor. It would be too easy for them to find out.
I take a quick shower and get dressed fo school.
My birthday is in two days and I haven't decided where I want to go yet.
Maybe thay weird dream is telling me something, mabe I should go wherever that dream is happening. Or even somewhere familiar.
But but all I see is trees every time. And that girl, I couldn't recognize her to safe my life.
This is so frustrating for some reason.
I hear the honk of Roberts car so I grab my back and run downstairs.
"Later mom and dad. Love you both." I yell grabbing my keys and heading out.
"Where's that list you promised me?" Is the first thing out of Julia's mouth as I enter the car.
"Good morning to you too." I say with a smile.
"She's obsessed with that mini bucket list for some reason. It's all she talks about." Robert pipes in.
"She's acting like we're gonna die or something." I joke and we burst out laughing but she stays quiet.
"Hey is everything okay?"
"Of course it is. Why wouldn't it be." She shows me her usual smile but her eyes say something different.
I decided to leave it alone for now.
"Hey, why don't we take a trip to forks on your birthday?" Robert suggests and imagines from my dreams flash through my mind.
"Yeah, maybe we should." I say closing my eyes trying to get a clear picture.
"What are you doing?" Julia ask in a weird tone.
"Ummm, I'm just trying to remember something."
I keep my eyes shut tightly then block out the sounds around me so I can focus on the dream as it plays in my mind.
"We're here." The familiar voice of the girl says but she's not a kid anymore shes all grown up but I still can't make out her face.
I squint to see what she's showing me and I see a wide lake in the opening. But the light coming from it was so blinding I had to look away.
"The lake!" I yell opening my eyes.
"Hey not so loud, do want me to crash?" Robert whines.
"Sorry." I say with a chuckle.
"What lake?" Julia asks.
"I want us to go visit the lake in the forest at Forks."
"That's a odd request." She looks at me with a strange expression.
"Yeah but it's what I want. Hey Robert could you get one the seniors with fake IDs to hook us up with some booze?" I ask.
"Hell yeah I can. Let's have a lake party! Woop woop!" He cheers honking the horn starting everyone as we pull into the schools parking lot and we burst out laughing.
The day goes by slowly and it felt like everything and everyone was moving in slow motion.
It was like I'm trying to subconsciously take everything in.
I just have this feeling that something's going to happen. Something big and life changing.
I just pray to whoever's up there that this something is something good.
I look over at Julia and I see her giving Robert a weird look that I've never seen on her face before.
I was about to call her out on it but she decides to speak.
"Hey guys, can we have lunch off campus today?" She asks and her mood suddenly changes.
"Yeah why not. I'm in the mood for hot wings." I say leading the way to car.
"What? Why? Today is pizza day, why would we want to skip that?"
"I just want a change, and its only for toaday Rob." She gives him the pouty face.
She must really want this.
And I need to get to the bottom of her weird behavior and I need to do it as soon as possible.
"I'll drive." She grabs the keys from Robert without warning.
"Shut gun!" I yell running to the front seat.
"Come on what are we 12?" I groans taking the back seat." Hey it's not so bad back here, now I she why you two sit together sometimes."
Julia and I laugh as she pulls out of the parking lot and speeds off to God knows where.
After about 5 minutes of driving she pulls up to a old diner.
"Oh my God! We haven't been here in years!" My voice is filled with shock as I speak.
"Hey this is where I first saw you two." Robert adds.
"It was?" Julia and I ask in unison.
"Yeah don't you remember?" His face is covered with disbelief as he tries to jog our memory.
But for some reason I can't seem to remember seeing him. And from the looks of it neither can Julia.
We used to come here all the time 3 years ago. It was just our hangout spot.
But when the owner changed we stop coming. I've heard that they kept the same chef but once the owner changed it just didn't feel the same anymore.
"Wow, it looks different and the same at the same time." Robert says in awe of the place.
"I know." I add.
"Its weird, I feel like I just stepped into a time capsule."Juli says and I see a sad look in her eye.
"Hey is everything okay?" I ask as quietly as possible.
"Yeah, I just didn't realize how much I missed this place." She says holding back tears.
I pull her in for a brief hug" we can come back anything, it's not like it going anywhere" I rub her shoulders and she smiles and hug me back.
We order to go and then eat in the schools parking lot.
As we eat, laugh and talk that weird feeling like everything is happening in slow motion takes over again.
Maybe its because my birthday is near.
We rest of the day goes by smoothly and we enjoyed every second of it.
"Hey mom, your home early again." I'm surprised to see my mom home so early again.
Is she planning something big for my birthday.
"Yeah most of patients got released today so I got the rest of the night off. I was too tired to cook so I ordered pizza."
"Okay mom, I have homework so I'll be up in my room." I say running up the stairs.
"Wait!" She says stopping me half way up." There something super important I want to talk to you about but I want your dad to be there when we do it." She says in a serious tone.
"Okay, are you pregnant? Because if you are he probably already knows."
She burst out laughing at me words.
"Of course I'm not pregnant. But this really is important and I have to say on your birthday so make sure you and your friends make it back in time."
"Sure thing mom." I say running up the stairs .
"Alissa I serious, make sure your back here in time." She gets super serious all of a sudden.
That's so weird I wonder what it could be?
First Julia's weird behavior, now my mom. Who's next Robert or my dad?
I'd make a bet with myself to find out but that would be pointless since I'd win and lose at the same time.
My phone suddenly rings when I see Robert's name pop up. Why would he be calling me.
"Halloooo!" I say laying on my back.
"Hey, you doing okay?" This is weird, he would normally just message me.
"Yeah, what's up?" I get straight to the point.
"Well, since tomorrow is the day before your birthday I was wondering if you'd like to hang out at mine and watch a twilight marathon." She asks in a weird tone.
Yep, just my dad left to go.
"Sorry, Julia and I are having a sleep over that night she has some dumb pre birthday ritual planned. Something about making mee ' as bright as the sun'." I repeat her words with a light laugh.
"That sounds like something she would say. " he joins in my laughter but it sounds kinda forced.
"We can do it after my birthday for sure." I try to cheer him up.
"Yeah, definitely. See you tomorrow then."
"Yeah." With that the call ended.
I wonder if I'll get that weird dream again tonight?
